I posted a data chart. Which loaded word in the chart triggered you?

Oh, PLEASE, Curious. Turn on your television to any of the major networks. What do you see? Watch the commercials, the promos, and, of course, the programs themselves. What do you see? Anything that suggests that Blacks are only 14% of the U. S. population?

Don't take my word for it (or that of "Variety" or anybody else) -- here's the very latest demographic percentages as kept by the government's census bureau: https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/PST045221

Scroll down and you'll see that my 14% estimate of Black population was actually a bit too high:

    Race and Hispanic Origin

    White alone, percent 75.8%

Black or African American alone, percent(a) 13.6%
American Indian and Alaska Native alone, percent(a) 1.3%
    Asian alone, percent(a) 6.1%
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone, percent(a) 0.3%
Two or More Races, percent 2.9%
    Hispanic or Latino, percent(b) 18.9%
White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent 59.3%

Go ahead... turn on your television!

Im not arguing the country’s demographics. The numbers don’t lie. Yellowstone is one of the most popular shows on, currently, and the cast is pretty white. Last year’s Emmys showed mostly white winners.

Commercials are a whole separate category, and I concede your point. No white guy in a commercial can be the smart person in the room. That’s just advertisers going where they think the money is.

Thank you, Curious. And, you're right... every time now there's a White guy in commercials, he's always some goofy-looking slob with one of these 'two-week' beards, and -- as you say -- never the 'smart guy in the room'... even though 'persons' who are, uh, 'non-Black' control the overwhelming majority of disposable income in this country.

But, look at what bunch of politically-correct crap a lot of the colleges and universities have morphed into! And that's where big advertising agencies get their get their executives from! These institutions of 'higher learning' don't even bother to teach students the Pareto Principle... that "20% of the population controls 80% of the purchases"! I'm not sure if that is considered canon in the Star Trek universe

Lower Decks turned out to be a really great show, and is more Star Trek than Discovery.

I think the racial demographics of commercials are unrelated to the actual programs they buttress. TV programs are a longer term investment, unlike commercials, although the skewed demographic effect in TV commercials, particularly car commercials (?) seems real.

You hit on a good example! Examine the next Mercedes commercial you see and take note of who's featured in it. It's so OBVIOUS that I won't say another word... and it's funny because the Germans I know would never waste advertising money in such a laughably STOOPID, purposeless manner.... :spin:

It is. You can look it up on Memory Alpha, which follows the canon. Memory Beta, BTW, is for tracking books, comics and other non canon sources. Although a few books are considered canon, mostly because they were written by the show writers.
