Yes. Its called a "bump" stock for a reason. Because it "bumps" the trigger using the recoil effect. For each time the trigger is pulled a recoil effect happens (for ALL guns), which then "bumps" the trigger again. Rinse repeat. The gun itself is STILL a semi-automatic gun. It CANNOT, by definition, be an automatic weapon. An automatic weapon, by definition, is a gun in which the trigger is only pulled ONCE yet has multiple rounds shot out.

Also, just to let you know, automatic weapons ARE legal in the US. It just has more regulations on being able to get one legally. So, even IF SCOTUS had said its the same as an automatic rifle, that does not mean that the Executive Branch has the power to ban it. Again, that takes an act of Congress to do. Not a decree by the Executive Branch. So once again, you run into the FACT that this case was about separation of powers.

Kal, the trigger is pulled only ONCE.

The Court is wrong. Far more than one shot is fired with the one trigger pull. Do you agree?

You have no alternative but to agree, Pull the trigger once with a bump stock, and the entire magazine empties at machine gun rate.

Logically and in all other ways, inarguable.

The bump stock has no trigger. The gun does. The bump stock does not. Like I said previously, the same exact effect can be accomplished with just your finger. The trigger is pulled multiple times.

Go to the 1:30 mark in this video. No bumpstock required. Same effect as a bump stock.

Blah, but you have ignored what SCOTUS said.

    Is that right or not?

Thank you for being impolite, even when I go against many in my party and agree with the left. When a leftist agrees with me, I thank them and take it as a win.

No doubt those who desire to be a future mass murderer agree with you.

Supreme Court gun ruling stuns Las Vegas shooting survivors

On 1 October 2017, Heather Gooze was serving drinks at the Route 91 music festival in Las Vegas when concert-goers began running into her bar, screaming and covered in blood.

A gunman perched high in a Las Vegas hotel had opened fire on the festivities below. He killed 60 people and wounded over 400 more. He was able to carry out what is still the deadliest mass shooting in US history because of a mechanism he installed on his gun known as a bump stock.

In the aftermath of the massacre, then-President Donald Trump banned bump stocks, a modification that allows a rifle to fire like a machine gun. It was a rare example of the US making a change to its gun policies in the wake of a mass shooting, and it was a reform that survivors of the attack welcomed.

The ban was all the more extraordinary because it was instituted by a Republican president and supported by the National Rifle Association, figures that would normally oppose a gun control proposal.

IMO, Trump and the NRA's decision on bump stocks was a PR move so they didn't appear to be indifferent to a preventable mass murder event on the scale of the one in Las Vegas. A concern not shared by the conservative supremes.

He was found to have defended himself in a court of law after they determined he was protecting himself from the slaughter of left-wing skateboard wacko.

Nice try though, can't even name one. Lmao

Every round fired with a bump stock requires a separate and distinct pull (action) of the trigger. This is the distinction between a semiautomatic and a machine gun by US codified law. A machine gun fires continuously while the trigger is depressed (one action) while a semiautomatic requires a full action separate trigger pull for each round fired.

Current US law does not disallow any firearm or firearm configuration based on how rapidly in succession a full action of the trigger may occur on a semiautomatic firearm. Thus, because a bump stock only increases the rapidity with which those separate and distinct actions (pulls) of the trigger occur, it is NOT a machine gun by law. It’s simply a semiautomatic.

A machine gun and a semiautomatic with a bump stock are mechanically different and specifically defined in US law based on these mechanical differences. You can’t ignore law (or you aren’t supposed to in a Constitutional democratic republic) just because you don’t like it. You have a clear and open path to change that law through the legislative bodies. But not through the executive or judicial branches. That’s violating the Constitution.

If you pull the trigger and hold it in while using a bump stock one round will fire. The trigger must be released and reset and pulled again to fire another round. Unlike a machine gun where there is only one function of the trigger for multiple shots. The bump stock just increases the speed at which a human finger can operate the trigger.

The law is based on a “function” of the trigger. A bump stick does not circumvent the necessity of a separate function of the trigger for each shot. “Pull” does not appear in the law. The law is based on “function” of a trigger.

You are misinformed of the law and of how firearms operate.

A semiautomatic CAN NOT fire more than one round per function of the trigger. A trigger on a semiautomatic MUST be fully released, travel back to pre-firing position, reset, and be pulled rearward AGAIN to fire another round. Period. End of story.

You are claiming the SC is wrong and clearly you have never even READ the laws relevant to the case. Sad.

You're wrong.. The bumpstock does not modify the trigger mechanism. It simply takes advantage of recoil to assist "with practiice" the trigger being pulled quicker..

But the shooter does not move his trigger finger, the triggering is carried out by just holding the gun hence why a firing rate in excess of 7 rounds a second can be reached until the clip is emptied

That’s correct. Kind of. I don’t know about the 7 rounds per second, that would depend on bolt weight, length of gas tube, barrel length etc. but I’ll assume that’s correct for discussion sake. But irrelevant to THE LAW. There are legal devices that increase firing rate of semiautomatics that work without the operator touching the “trigger” at all.

A bump stock allows the firearm to recoil into and away from the stationary finger. Without a bump stock the firearm is motionless and the finger moves. But still one FUNCTION of the trigger which is what defines a machine gun vs semiautomatic BY LAW.

With a bump stock the firearm is not held firmly. That’s why accuracy suffers. For a firearm to be accurate it must be as stationary in relation to the target as possible. Allowing movement of the firearm by NOT HOLDING it firmly when using a bump stock decreases accuracy.

By banning the bumpstock the pull and release trigger was born.. So where you had a addon that took some practic and skill to perform, and was unreliable and reduced accuracy we have a addon that cycles a round on the pull and release of the trigger..

Same deadly accuracy as a stock rifle and as fast as the bumpstock that anyone can operate..

It’s amusing to see Trump haters supporting his violation of law. Very amusing. They don’t dislike lawlessness. Not really. That’s an act. They despise rule of law if it suits their biases. Trump was dictator for a day and they LOVED it so much they are mad at the court for overturning that dictator day.

    Definitely amusing.

    eff all dictators…

Six justices agreed to overturn the ban because it blatantly violated the Constitution.

If you want to argue that the Leftist ideology demands that Supreme Court justices do nothing, while the other two branches openly and blatantly violate the Constitution, then the Leftists have some serious soul searching to do.

No, the trigger is pulled everytime a round is fired. The trigger a doesn't "reset automatically". Hence the term "automatic weapon".

It isn't that they don't want Trump to be a DICTATOR. They just don't want TRUMP to be the dictator.

The Leftists are all about The United States having a dictator, just as long as it's THEIR dictator.

You don't really need a bump stock to 'rapid fire' a gun. A bump stock might be a little faster than a semi-automatic but the gun will fire no faster than it can. Heck, look how fast Oswald got off at least two shots with a bolt action rifle.

Charles Whitman murdered 18 and wounded 31 with a bolt action rifle. He was in a sniper hide that allowed him 96 minutes to operate.

It's a good thing because the ATF violated the Constitution by implementing the ban. The Supreme Court overturned the unconstitutional ban. It's always a good thing when the Constitution is upheld.

You've just unwittingly made a great case for all of those types of "addons" to be banned.
