I doubt he had $400K, although he could have sold his house since he planned to die anyway.

Haha yeah… I’ll just trade my house. May be cheaper to run after the divorce too

you're being evasive. Reagan was advised of the following

    1) the Hughes Amendment was not properly passed and would be stricken by the courts
    2) the Hughes Amendment was unconstitutional and would be stricken by the courts
    3) the good parts of the McClure-Volker Firearms Protection act were extremely important
    4) the democrats were going to win the senate in the fall of 1986 and that would kill the bill

so he signed it. The first two pieces of advice did not come to pass, they were right about the Democrats winning the senate

We aren't talking about a 400,000 dollar mini gun
we are talking about the registered (200 dollar tax stamp) hand held carbines and SMGs=-none of which legally owned HAD EVEr BEEN uSED TO commit a murder in the last 86 years

However, your answer clearly states that you favored the ban

He could have flown one of his two planes into the crowd and killed ten times as many
he could have sold one plane, bought a mini gun and set it up in that perch
or he could have bought a couple dozen Mk 33 Fragmentation grenades and chucked them into that crowd.

No, I said its irrelevant to me. Learn to read.

He could have done many things, but chose to do what he did.

I am talking about miniguns, and you can talk about anything you want. The guns which you refer to are strictly regulated, so there aren't many around, and hence very few in wrong hands.

You find a gun ban irrelevant? You don't care one way or another

    I call bullshit on that

A ban on machine guns is irrelevant TO ME. A ban on land mines is also irrelevant to me, because I have no intention of ever getting one with, or without bans.

I’m not arguing they should be cheap but they should be around (miniguns), even modern ones. The second was created to have the same sword and shield of small arms as the military has.

He had an airplane, and, I suppose, credit cards as well.

so you don't think a ban on machine guns-even though there were no reported murders or other violent crimes with legally owned machine guns for over four decades before that law was passed is not improper?

The military has them, but they are attached to boats, armored cars etc. The gun + ammo is pretty heavy and it eats up ammo so fast that it would not make sense to carry it around on foot.

Yea, well, he chose AR15 as opposed to a minigun.

As I said, they are strictly regulated and very expensive, so there aren't many around and hence very few in wrong hands. Again, you are making the argument for the banners.

the real issue was the ban on commonly used police and national guard weapons like M4 carbines and HK MP 5 SMGs

they also are classified as crew served weapons and as you well know there is a serious divide between many strong 2A advocates of whether crew served weapons were arms that citizens would normally keep and BEAR

You should be able to own a tank in my opinion. If a municipality decided to invest in a tank they should be able to.

No, it can be operated by a single man. SAW and LAW are also 1 man weapons.

which are more likely termed ordnance or artillery-as opposed to an arm that a citizen would normally keep and bear

you can own a tank-its the coaxial 50 caliber HMG and the 120mm smoothbore gun that is the sticking point legally

SAW fires 5.56mm round, so, I'm not sure how that qualifies as artillery. People would buy them if they could, so the "normally keep and bear" doesn't mean much.

Sure. Very few were sold, and even fewer are in criminal hands.

too heavy, almost impossible to conceal, though some of the Prohibition era bootleggers had BARs stolen from NG or Police Armories. MAC style machine pistols are far more popular among gangbangers-white supremacist extremists used a MAC style SMG to murder leftwing talk show host Allan Berg. The weapon started as a legal semi auto and was illicitly converted to automatic. same with the Ruger Rifles used in the infamous Florida shootout where SA Jerry Dove and and another FBI agent were killed-as were the two mopes. A group called the MIDWEST BANK GANG that colleagues of mine prosecuted (one, a guy named Guthrie, hung himself in the boone county Jail (used by the Cincinnati FBI as holding cell after Tim Oakley, AUSA SDOH interrogated him). The other leader-a guy named Peter (AKA Donna) Langan (who was a drag queen or Trans (it's disputed) in addition to being a white supremacist bank robber) was caught after a shootout with the FBI in columbus-he had a converted AR 15 IIRC

Reagan would not even make it through the radical Republican Primary today. Also, Trump would probably publicly state that "Melania is hotter than Nancy".

what does that have to do with this thread? in reality, Reagan's policies aren't very different from the GOP political agenda today. On the other hand the Democrats are far far different than the Democrats when I was growing up

JFK was a war hero, and an NRA Life member.
HHH was more pro gun than Nixon and George McGovern was a war hero with the DFC
Even carter was pro military and was a naval officer

all of them were patriots who didn't hate America

now democrats are commie-light-gun banning haters of hard working Americans, haters of law enforcement and supporters of all sorts of extremist behavior such as dudes with dicks competing in girls sports and gender confused mental cases being paraded before children

I don't really have an issue with it. The obvious question is what happens when there are hundreds of thousands of them in circulation, and they end up in wrong hands

Yes, he would be called RINO, gun-grabber, libural, and all other typical pseudo-con hit phrases. His party is unrecognizable from his days

LOL. Sadly I know you are not kidding, or exaggerating, because based on your posting history I know that is how you actually see the Average-Joe democrats. You are not alone, which proves the effectiveness if the 24/7 media propaganda.
