How do you consider this a tattoo fail?

    o3impoAf3kiEistbeUynJA2.jpg

I love tattoos, wouldn't ever get one myself but I like them on other people. Of course the liking depends entirely on the artwork.

Amazing work, isn't it? It's because of that picture that I went to the artist's website, and then to the site where I found a more local artist who is just as talented. I'd consider visiting Russia for a few weeks to have that quality of work done.

Truly is, so realistic the picture looks almost fake. Is the artist who did this work from Russia? Do you happen to know the website off-hand or the artist's name? I would like to check out his/ her stuff.

Most tattoos are remarkably stupid. They are stupid, of stupid things. They are permanent stupid ideas of stupid things.

"mommy, what's that on your back?"
"That's mommys tramp stamp honey... see when mommy was young, these quasi celtic meaningless tattoos were very popular, presumably because they were easy to make/fix by bad tattoo artists, and you rarely have to see them."
    "I can't wait till I get a tattoo"

    Awesomesauce.

You are as original as everyone else.

"Art" is not what most artists do. (*)(*)(*)(*)ty art is.

There are a WHOOOOOOOLE lot of tattoos out there. It is a small ratio of good ones. Chances are, if you have a tattoo, it sucks... and reflects only your ignorance. Chances are, if you have a good one, you have others that suck. It is rarely indicative of intelligence... therefor they pretty much say "I am a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing idiot... or... hopefull I was one and grew out of it... and am sort of stuck with this."

    imo.

Your post above is a sign of ignorance. You are making a claim that anyone with a tattoo is intellectually inferior to those with none. Do you know this as fact? If so, please post your source to them.

For the record...I bet that I have a higher IQ than you...just sayin'

Statistically unlikely, but I am not trying to have a (*)(*)(*)(*) fight. The OP asked for a reason. They typically reflect ignorance... or youthful ignorance at best. This is not absolute. I have a number of exemptions, most especially for military.

Most tattoos suck. Most tattoos are unoriginal and poorly executed. If I see another pseudo celtic arm band I might just laugh, or cry. Another Chinese character that doesn't mean what they think it means...

I am not aware of may intellectual jaugernauts covered in tats. I am willing to say most Nobel lauriats, Copley medalists, Max-Planck recipients do not have "art" on them. Most brain surgeons, astrophysicists, theoretical physicists, rocket scientists... et al... are unincumbered by ink.

However every scumbag ex con/drug dealer seems to.

You can choose to think that is coincidence... I don't care.

I see a person covered in tats I wonder what went wrong in their lives that made them that needy for attention. Call me crazy.

I think the word you were grasping for was psychological.

Care to rebut? Because as your argument sits it seems like you are simply aware... of circumstance.

    I'm more Freudian.

I think the underlying rationale (sub-concious) for tattoos is that folks who get them think it will enance their sexuality. Maybe to show they are tough, therefore possess good breeding genetics.

    Why all the psychoanalysis?

Someone can't just get a tattoo cause they like them?

I see tattoos as personal graphic statements representing themes centered around the individual that has them. Typically graphic representations (paintings, etc.) are meant to be observed in total. Tattoos are different. Most of the time, one cannot see any appreciable part of them. Therefore, I must conclude that a tattoo is meant as a highly personal 'tag' meant only to satisfy the person who receives it.

Because arrogant intellectually bankrupt people with very tiny minds are unable to understand anything that they themselves do not desire.

They don't like tattoos, so tattoos are bad as are the people who get them. I must be a drug dealer for a guitar pick shaped Yin Yang on my arm.

I don't like tattoos. I don't have any. Neither does my wife. I like it that way.

That being said, both my sons and my daughter have tattoos. My soon to be daughter in law is a tattoo artist and a pretty good one to boot. Tattoos are a form of expression and should be given the freedoms other forms of expression have. Some are classy. Some are ugly. Some are downright ignorant. Some just make everyone go WTF. Who cares? It doesn't hurt anyone but the one getting the tattoo. If all this judgemental bull(*)(*)(*)(*) over other people's lives (not just tattoos, but everything) were to go away, we would ALL be happier.

Well, not quite. Some people get tattoos with the specific intent of pissing someone else off. They would be really disappointed if suddenly everyone was tolerant of their anti-social attempts at angering people.

    It's a perfectly acceptable rationale...

Not everybody gets tattoos because of some psychological reason...

    Some people just like tattoos...

Anyone can do anything they like to their body. Bearing the repercussion.

Ok hypocrites. You put out an ad for an au pair/nanny/babysitter.

I was joking. Hence the Freudian slip...(no pun intended)

You have to admit some of the reason for getting a tattoo is peer pressure.
The "cool kids" have them, so I'll get one too. Not unlike when kids start smoking cigarettes.

Maybe for some people, they get tattoos out of peer pressure...

    Not everybody...

See my earlier post about considering how one would appear in a professional setting before getting any tattoo...

Case in point. Taking a single "extreme" instance and formulating a broad and general argument based on just that.

Put it this way, I can't think of one person with a tattoo who has contributed to science, technology, philosophy or maths. In other words, most or all people who have tattoos are degenerate peoples and porn stars.

Also what is the purpose of having a tattoo? Its poisonous for your skin and blood anyway and it's as if people with tattoos are trying to show off their body and tattoos to others and we all know showing off is corrupt and ego oriented.
