So how are mid-winter bush fires relevant to the fact that China is building more nuclear power stations and solar and wind farms and plans to build the world's largest hydro-power system, and der Fuhrer Trump just wants to drill baby drill to melt Greenland's ice cap?

You were not obliged to bring up fires, but you chose to do so, and with a claim not supported by the data.

Has the frequency of mid-winter bush fires increased or decreased?

That's pretty much it. Mankind has never been able to control the weather. But what makes mankind unique, particularly given their woefully inadequate powers as an apex predator, is their ability to invent ways to adapt to the weather, whatever it brings.

Maybe, just maybe, California will learn.

Or simply continue to crumble in the face of weather they can't control.

Exactly. They wastefully spend billions on mitigation which will do absolutely nothing acknowledging that they recognize a problem but the spend relatively nothing on adaptation resulting in no fire breaks, inadequate water supply to fight fires, and cuts in the fire department. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

And there should be government restrictions on building new houses in fire prone areas, and not just from insurance company incentives.
