the worst gop will do in 2018 is +-0 and thats a disaster. I think there are only 3 presidents to gain seats in the senate while in office. Trump will be the 4th. The 2018 map is really just that bad for the dems.
I thought there were 8 GOP seats up for grabs? So the worst they could do is -8, is it not? Exceedingly unlikely given they're all from Republican stronghold states (least Republican = Arizona lol), but it could technically happen.
