I agree with you. I am 6' and a long ride can take a toll on my back. Never been on one. hmmmmm, maybe one day. Actually, the topic began with Ctrl talking about racing professionally. One of the reasons I bought the bike I did was with the intention of having it as a track bike one day. The only thing holding me back is the $. I am just married and am starting the process of buying a home, it is the last thing on my mind now. Plus I wanted to get as much time in the saddle as possible. There are a lot of squids who ride sportbikes, there is no doubt about that. With that said, I have seen just as many (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s driving harley's and all sorts of bikes, not just 600 CC sportbikes. So you buy a bike because it was "the fastest production motorcycle in the world, yet only use 20% of it's potential. You just pooped all over your own point. My bike does fine on the highway, thank you, even with endless tractor trailers. Get a "real" motorcycle to only use 20% of it's potential? No thanks. I would rather a 600, where I could take it to the track and try my hardest to use it to 100% of it's potential. I am not sure I would use the word 'mature' to describe yourself either, judging from your posts, anyway. Maybe you just need to open your eyes then.
My next bike will be another VFR-800. I agree, the best all-around bike I've ever ridden. Squids, interesting I've heard the term thrown around in riding circles...and the ZX-14 has it's share of those as well. There's no doubt the bike is too much for the average rider out there. I will freely admit that when I'm going 70mph, with plenty of room on the tach before redlining...and still in first gear...it's hard not to think when I am ever going to be use the power...without becoming a human missile. It's too much bike, and owning one comes down more to ego than anything else. Still, it's an under-rated sport-tourer. I've had the handlebars lifted with a riser so the riding position isn't leaning so far forward, and it's a decent tourer, though it's heart is more pure sport bike than tourer...and as a sport bike it's only real advantage is on straights. A liter bike is more than enough for even an advanced rider.
A 600 is too small a frame for any extensive touring. The average car, even a basic sub-compact...can do 100mph plus. Should the driver therefore always drive at a 100mph? Maturity in motorcycling is respecting the bike and knowing your personal limits. My riding level, even as an experienced rider, does not match the bike's potential, and frankly even an advanced professional rider would be foolish to max out a sport bike, even a 600...on the street. A 600, when wrung out will take you in excess of 160mph...and frankly getting stupid at those speeds on the street is not something that interests me.... should I spend therefore majority of my riding time exploring the limits of the bike or stay in the zone that matches riding skill with safety. Maturity in riding isn't complicated...because it can, doesn't mean you should.
Apologies for the non-riders and haters of motorcycles for taking over the hobby thread by the way. for the record an R6 is a nice bike and if track riding is your goal one day; that's a good choice for sure... Thread on another board about a fellow ZX-14 owner bragging about "100mph in 1st gear" Interesting response from a 600 rider...and I quote. funny stuff...
I would.... Although New Hampshire does OK with biking and skiing too. Although I have been to Jackson skiing and that makes NH look like small hills.

Reading, drawing, model trains, anymore my hobby would be playing catch, building things out of legos and whatever else my son wants. I guess anything that involves building something be it in little plastic bricks or with wood and a saw.
I have lots of interests and lots of hobbies. I enjoy dancing, drumming, hiking, gardening, reading, writing, making jewelry, and alternative healing. Years ago I started collecting angels, switched to fairies, then switched to crystals. My house sports quartz crystal clusters both inside and out, and I have some beautiful amethyst cathedrals, too.
I forgot to include rock collecting in my hobbies. Do you have any stresed amethyst? I have a very beautiful blue piece.
I make sausages, jam, chutney's etc... Road and Mountain Bike (XC), learning the guitar and Ukelele, drink with friends.
