It is said that the most critical measure of a society's worth is in observing how it treats the most vulnerable members...its children.

Over the past sixty years, all of the following trends gained serious momentum...

    1. Mothers prioritizing work over time with their children
    2. Fatherless families becoming more and more common
    2. The trashing of the public school systems
    3. Increasingly unaffordable and unavailable health care
    4. Horrendous parenting
    5. Lack of religious/spiritual teachings and guidance
    6. Turning three generations of kids over to tv, the internet, and social media
    7. Widespread availability of pornography to children
    8. Creating millions of obese and chronically ill children through unbelievably poor nutrition and sedentary lifestyles
    9. And the worst of all, governmental and corporate support of child predation with the exposure of children to all kinds of bizarre behaviors by some of the most unstable members of our society

And people wonder why there are so many kids suffering from mental and physical illnesses!

Shame on America for prioritizing wealth and ideology over the well-being of our most precious resource...our children.

    Shame, shame, shame.

With every right comes responsibility. Unfortunately we’re a band of narcissists and the later is foreign to many. Worse, we indiscriminately arm the band and watch our children get slaughtered.

I can not imagine ever taking on the responsibility of raising a child myself. Too bad people don't need to undergo any training before doing so in the wild.

Is this a surprise when making more bucks is much more important than children? That's America, where the dollar rules everything and keeping up with the Jones' is the most important task in life.

It's not all of America [and it's not just the U.S., but I am sure it's more prevalent here]. There are still people who have their priorities straight.

Unfortunately, corporate philosophy went mainstream in the 70's - 80's and many internalized and applied this bottom-line mentality to the exclusion of all else [including their kids]. Subtract any religious grounding and add in ideological brainwashing and you have a society of narcissistic materialists [and not much else].

1, 3 and 8 are due to failures in our extreme corporate capitalist society. We have allowed families wealths to stagnate while the wealthy consume more and more.

2 is likely tied in to the above but I have noticed the trend that men want women to work full time jobs and then be the sole caregiver and home maker. Why would a woman want an adult child?

4, 6 and 7 is related to the above

5 is going to happen as the education of society increases. People realize that the sun doesn’t set because of a sky fairy.

9 — by child predation do you mean what we see happening in religious organizations all around the country like child rape and hiding pedophiles? Or are you upset that the rainbow people are allowed in public?

Have you considered the role of pharmaceuticals in the plight of children?

Have you considered the role of poor public policy like the drug prohibition in the plight of today's children?

These are feminized men. Do you know any "regular" guys who do not want to work, but instead, stay home all day and take care of their kids? What guy in his right mind would want to do that?

Most of what religious teaching is about has nothing to do with that. It gives young people a moral foundation and guidance [which obviously they are not getting at home].

Even people in prison understand the absolute evil that child predators represent. These practices [by whomever] should be severely punished and there should be absolutely ZERO tolerance. You mess with kids, you lose for freedom for life.

It is true, nobody can imagine what it is like until it happens to you but one of the things becoming a parent does is it makes you put your self aside and another person becomes the priority. This makes you grow up in a hurry.

Somehow, baby boomers decided that the responsibility of having children was inconvenient so they decided to farm-out this responsibility to the schools, to television, the internet, anything that would allow them to continued their prolonged adolescence.

And of, course, the parasites [socialists] are ALWAYS waiting to pounce on any opportunity to take over [every damn thing], extract their profits [bloated public salaries] and leaving the hollowed-out carcass to rot.

I never said those men were not working, I said they want the woman to work three full time jobs (maintaining a home, caring for children, and being employed).

It also teaching young people to fly into buildings and gives adults a place to rape children.

I agree — when there is an organization that has to have child rape insurance they should probably be deleted as well.

I get that, but there are reasons why things were the way they were for thousands of years. Men and women are wired differently, and although any man can certainly do what he must [as is the case for women], it seems like the best chance for success is to stick with what works best most of the time.

The bottom-line is that the vast majority of women are better caregivers as is the case that the vast majority of men are better workers. The majority of men are willing to do whatever needs to be done [no matter how much it sucks] because this is what they have been doing for thousands of years.

I can agree with some of the items on this list. But there are others that I think are not really an issue and others I am glad to see.

If you didn't want anyone putting in their opinion then why post on a public forum?

    If you want specifics

    1. Mothers prioritizing work over time with their children
Prioritizing? How about need to. There was a time where an individual made enough to take care of a family. Not anymore. Between tax cuts for the ultra wealthy and corporate greed those times are no more.

    2. Fatherless families becoming more and more common
Ah yes, back to a better time when a woman couldn't afford to leave her husband when he turns out to be an abusive jerk.

    2. The trashing of the public school systems
I agree they have been trashed, but probably not the way you think.

    3. Increasingly unaffordable and unavailable health care
    Something we agree on.

    4. Horrendous parenting
I would need to know what you think constitutes "horrendous parenting"?

    5. Lack of religious/spiritual teachings and guidance
Here we disagree completely. There is absolutely nothing of worth in religious/spiritual teaching.

    6. Turning three generations of kids over to tv, the internet, and social media
So much better when they were working in the mines and the meat processing plants.

    7. Widespread availability of pornography to children
Oh no, children seeing boobies...whatever will we do? I know, lets send them to schools where they can be shot.

    8. Creating millions of obese and chronically ill children through unbelievably poor nutrition and sedentary lifestyles
    Another thing we agree on.

    9. And the worst of all, governmental and corporate support of child predation with the exposure of children to all kinds of bizarre behaviors by some of the most unstable members of our society
I'm sure I know what you mean by "unstable members of our society" and if you mean what I think you mean, well, you're just wrong.

    That better?

Unfortunately, far, far. too many teach their children not a religion but to abuse others by a religion with things not actually in the religion. Take, for example, the fact that Jesus taught with the story of the Good Samaritan that Heaven is for good people not Jews nor Christians nor Muslims, good people only need apply. No check mark boxes for religion.
