ASo all this "working together" was just blowing smoke and his job the next two years is to screw the other side. Pitiful.

    Myth.

He's had six years and now youbare saying he is just going to try and screw Republicans and obstruct their plans to finally get the economy in gear.

Ahhh the Americian people didn't elect, in a crushing defeat, a Republican Congress, with the fewest Democrats since the 1920's to give Obama what he wants. That elections have consequences thing. That "we won" thing. And it was Obama himself who declared his policies were on the table in that election and they were resoundly rejected. He should take the example of Clinton, the era of big government is over.

Jodi Ernst wanted to tell us the Tom Joad story of her life. Only thing is, she was born in 1970 and the era she grew up in was the Reagan era. I think her story was a bit off the mark though, these guys did it better.

I'll assume he explained that everything is perfect, and more importantly... better than when Bush left.

There were better things on TV at the time.

In before the rule 11 closure..

He is very good at that. His speech essentially says, "The BS stops here".

No doubt, there will be a lot of petulance about it from the right.

I don't think she termed it as Tom Joad, perhaps you can give me the exact quote, but her parents were not well off, they and she worked a farm which is certainly hard work, she applied herself well throughout her life.

"Ernst was born Joni Kay Culver in Montgomery County, Iowa, the daughter of Marilyn and Richard Culver.[6] She was valedictorian of her class at Stanton High School.[7] Ernst earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Iowa State University,[8] and a Master of Public Administration degree from Columbus College.[7][9] While in college, Ernst took part in an agricultural exchange to the Soviet Union.[10]

    Military career[edit]
Ernst is a lieutenant colonel in the logistics branch and currently commands the 185th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion at Camp Dodge, the largest battalion in the Iowa Army National Guard.[11][12] As of 2014, Ernst had served 21 years between the Army Reserve and the National Guard. She spent 14 months in Kuwait in 2003-2004 as a company commander during Operation Iraqi Freedom.[9][13][14]"

How does that compare with the other person who spoke last night?

The voters come out in droves during a Presidential election. If I remember correctly, 67% of Democrats were no shows at the voting booth during the midterm election, which explains the Republican majority we are now stuck with. Many claim that they were sending a message that they wanted the Democrats to wake up and actually be Democrats. The candidates that distanced themselves from Obama's policies lost their seats and to hell with them for their lack of integrity. The GOP has given him squat since his first day, so things are no different now, other than he appears unruffled and ready to do whatever he needs to do to seal the legacy he has chosen for himself...veto pen in hand.

    .
"We'll always have our 'Red State Model'!"

The President had the audacity to deliver the State of the Union Address in which he noted the improving state of the union's economy, and outlined his agenda that consists of several priorities for which the American electorate expresses a high level of support.

In other words, he poked the TPs in both eyes, and they are, not unexpectedly, howling loudly without much substantive commentary evident.

Anticipate a couple of ear plug requisitions by the 114th Congress.

As I recall turnout had nothing to do with it, losing votes did. And as Obama declared it was a referendum on his policies and they were resoundingly rejected.

More we're tired of a do nothing Democrat congress and a posturing President and we're ready to turn the country around and get us back on track.

Actually those who embraced him lost.

He had a Democrat congress from day one and for the next two years and he got what he wanted. The Republicans gave him his tax increase. So please dispense with the excuses. We he wanted didn't work and the people have rejected it yet everything he said last night was just a rehash of what he was saying on day one.

And he will go down as a failed President who got his stimulus, who got his tax increase, who got his health care and then when all that failed obstructed measures to help the middle class get back to work and improve their lot.

He should take some lessons from Clinton who after a similar lose and rejection by the people saw the light and agreed to Republican policies which then sent the economy into high gear.

I could have said any number of fictional characters that walked a mile with no shoes but the story of Tom Joad is one of hardship brought about because of things he did not control. Old Joni here tried something like that on us last night so it works for me. She might be a nice lady, so what? Her pitch last night was straight out of a script from 1950s TV shows and movies. I got news for you rightees out there, America is not going to be led by people who think an Iowa pig farmers concerns and values are more important than those facing the many millions in urban areas. It's over, we really don't care about Kansas anymore Dorothy.

Then keep your politics in urban areas (where they fail miserably) and out of the federal government where it is forced upon everyone.

    Enjoy your next meal.

More of the same, more taxes, more debt, more welfare. All absurd, all so boring and predictable.

Not really. It's just Obamamania amongst his followers, who have a pseudo-sexual attraction to the idea of a non-white President, still after all these years.

No white flag... just a simple dismissal of someone not really interested in debate. (should I post this 4 times to appear as persistent as you that only my opinion and my opinion alone is the correct one?)
