Time to Get Real About Ukraine

Makes little difference in the Bakhmut battle such as it is - in which a tank is just another piece of long range artillery .. as that is how the battle is being fought .. trench warfare - just at longer range than in previous wars .. don't see where the enemy is firing from. So tank just sits there and fires like every other piece of Artillery ... unfortunately Russia having a 10-1 artillery advantage .. the tanks not making much of a difference to this ratio.

Regardless .. the tanks wont be showing up until after the war is mostly over .. so way much adeau about nothing.

Obivously, it would need to be agreed to by all nuclear powers, making all of them into enforcers. That way no one would dare violate the prohibition because they would need to fear reprisal regardless of alliances.

Anyway, it's a silly suggestion loosely based on The Day The Earth Stood Still. The bottom line is humanity should get beyond these squabbles and focus on promoting life rather than destroying it and advancing the human race as a whole.

 

You think the war will be over by fall? I mean, I know that Challenger 2 and Leopard 2 tanks are good, but I don't know if Ukraine will have the Muscovites licked quite that quick.

I agree about Bakhmut, but the idea is to break through defenses and out-flank the opponent, not just turn the new tanks into more artillery.

 

We did when we allowed representatives we elected to trade them a mealy mouthed promise of some security for their freedom to own nukes.
They gave up their nukes, and while I acknowledge the promise was worded in such a way as to make it evadable if we felt like it: I don't feel like it. I feel we have morally bound ourselves to their defense against Russian aggression since we made them cough up their nukes. Because I feel morally bound, I do not feel a need to attempt a legal evasion.

Norway says it has sent eight Leopard tanks to Ukraine

Eight German-made Leopard 2 battle tanks which Norway pledged to Ukraine have now been received by Kyiv, the Norwegian armed forces has announced.

Footage released by the Norwegian military on Wednesday (March 22) showed a Leopard 2A4 tank being transported by road to an undisclosed location on an undisclosed date, before being loaded onto an Antonov transport plane along with munitions and an armoured support vehicle.

The tanks were promised in late January, along with four special purpose tanks from its armoured engineering and bridge layer category, based on what Ukraine said it needed the most.

The Norwegian armed forces announced on its website on Monday (March 20) that the eight Leopard 2 tanks had been received, and the delivery was also confirmed to Reuters by email.

Kyiv has secured from several of its Western allies pledges to send modern battlefield tanks to help fend off Russia's invasion as Moscow steps up its efforts to make advances in eastern Ukraine.

Other NATO countries, including Germany, Poland and Portugal said they would deliver a total of 48 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

Norway, which shares a border with Russia in the Arctic, had 36 Leopard 2 tanks in total.​
