    Read.... and learn

    SNIP
    Trump has shown a wide range of pathological behavior over the past seven years or so. He has an unhealthy fascination with violence. He lacks impulse control and empathy. He revels in cruelty. He compulsively lies and exhibits traits of malignant narcissism. He is a confirmed sexual predator and misogynist. He has a tenuous relationship to reality, and increasingly retreats into victimology and a persecution complex. He believes himself to be almost literally superhuman and often behaves like a cult leader.

    In my many conversations with mental health experts during the Age of Trump, one of their consistent themes has been the suggestion that if the ex-president was not a rich white man he would likely have been arrested or otherwise removed from normal society decades ago.

    I dunno about decades ago, but certainly @ 2017...

    Anyone who thinks Biden is not deep into a state of cognitive decline is delusional.

    Though not as delusional as anyone who thinks that your opinion on this, has any merit, whatsoever.

    That is an interesting revisiting of history, to witness how little has changed, among Republicans, who now see the sinister hand of "the Deep State," everywhere they look. Some things, though, have changed:
    first, fewer Republican voters, in the past, seem to have been endlessly gullible to fallacious fear tactics, or to have had unending patience, for such nonsense as McCarthy's; probably related to this, Republican elected leaders used to be more responsive, when one of their own, made an ass of himself.

    From your Wikipedia link:

    <Snip>
    Near the end of the hearings, McCarthy and Senator Stuart Symington
    sparred over the handling of secret files by McCarthy's staff. McCarthy staff director Frank Carr testified that everyone who worked on McCarthy's staff had access to classified files regardless of their level of security clearance. Symington hinted that some members of McCarthy's own staff might themselves be subversive and signed a document agreeing to take the stand in the hearings to reveal their names in return for McCarthy's signature on the same document agreeing to an investigation of his staff. But McCarthy, after calling Symington "Sanctimonious Stu", refused to sign the agreement, claiming it contained false statements, and called the accusations an "unfounded smear" on his men. He then rebuked Symington by saying "You're not fooling anyone!" But Symington retaliated with a prophetic remark of his own: "Senator, the American people have had a look at you now for six weeks; you're not fooling anyone, either."[35]

    In Gallup polls from January 1954, McCarthy's approval rating was at 50%, with only 29% disapproving. By June, both percentages had shifted by 16%, with more people (34% approving, 45% disapproving) now rejecting McCarthy and his methods.[36]

    After hearing 32 witnesses and two million words of testimony, the committee concluded that McCarthy himself had not exercised any improper influence on Schine's behalf, but that Roy Cohn, McCarthy's chief counsel, had engaged in some "unduly persistent or aggressive efforts" for Schine... Before the official reports were released, Cohn had resigned as McCarthy's chief counsel, and
    Senator Ralph Flanders (R-Vermont) had introduced a resolution of censure against McCarthy in the Senate.[37]

    Despite McCarthy's acquittal of misconduct in the Schine matter, the Army–McCarthy hearings ultimately became the main catalyst in McCarthy's downfall from political power.
    Daily newspaper summaries were increasingly unfavorable toward McCarthy,[38][39] while television audiences witnessed firsthand the unethical tactics of the junior Senator from Wisconsin.

    On December 2, 1954,
    the Senate voted 67–22 to censure McCarthy, effectively eradicating his influence, though not expelling him from office.[40] McCarthy continued to chair the Subcommittee on Investigations until January 3, 1955, the day the 84th United States Congress was inaugurated; Senator John L. McClellan (D-Arkansas) replaced McCarthy as chairman.
    <End Snip>

    While the Senate did vote to censure McCarthy, let's not give those Republicans of another generation, too much credit: note that they did not censure him until after he had lost his bid for re-election.

    You nailed it: Trump's freedom of speech, includes the freedom to lie-- though not in court, under oath; at least not without potential, adverse consequences.

    This news conference is nothing more than counter-programming: a fake story, to compete with the real one, prior to the actual trial, which Trump hopes to put off until after the election (and, though it's a state trial, I would not doubt that Trump may still hope that, if he wins in November, he might be able to make it go away).

    I don’t think Biden’s mental and physical decline is funny. Most people view it as disturbing. After all, this man is the president of the United States.

    You had portrayed yourself as able to determine, with 100% certainty, serious cognitive decline, for President Biden:

    A couple of quick questions: are you a psychiatrist or psychologist? Some other type of mental health professional, and expert on cognitive decline (other than through personal experience)? Have you had a face to face session with Biden, to evaluate his mental condition?

    Or are you a non-professional, with no mental health training or expertise to speak of, who is maintaining he can make a trustable diagnosis, from only what he has seen on television (and probably by believing what he's seen or read in the far Right wing media)? And you want to talk about being "delusional?"

    Is this the same Joe Biden who is masterminding both Trumps downfall and the cover up of multiple monied scandals by his family?

    I am sorry but I cannot see this photo without remembering the joke about the late unlamented local politician who had a similar temperament and build to Trump

    A man walked into a specialist restaurant and ordered turtle soup but after over an hour the soup had failed to materialise. Concerned he called the waiter over and asked what the problem was. The waiter replied that the chef was having problems with properly dispatching the turtle so it could be cooked. “Don’t worry - I will fix it” the man replied and with that let the waiter lead him to the kitchen only to watch the chef frustratingly trying to chop the head off the turtle. Every time the chef tried to bring the hatchet down on the turtles head it quickly withdrew the head into its shell and the chef missed. “Ah!’ Said the man, “yes I can fix this but stand by to do the deed.” With that he went to the rear of the turtle shell lifted the turtles tail and stuck his finger in its bottom. The turtles head shot out the shell and the chef was able to decapitate it. “That was amazing!” Said the chef. “How did you know to do that?”
    “Well” replied the man “I was Trumps dresser for years and that was the only way I could get his tie on!”

    Biden isn’t masterminding anything.

    After all he’s not running anything.

    Half the time he doesn’t know where he is. Sometimes he needs a young child to tell him where he just returned from. He needs to be directed on which way to go leaving a stage.

    When he speaks he can barely string two coherent sentences together. Plus he makes up new words no one can understand. Being assigned as his signer is a frustrating job.

    Regarding cognitive acuity, Biden knows that he is President of the United States, elected in 2020 by over seven million more Americans than his opponent, a delusional old geezer who actually fantasizes that he is!

    He was never in politics until he ran for office. Of course a big time developer needs to always make the right donations. They have to grease the corrupt palms.

    Biden is an abject failure. He thinks he’s the greatest president in US history.
