Thanks a lot, Donald Trump, for taking away women's reproductive rights and what is really sick is that you are bragging about it, and it's unfortunate consequences of putting women in danger in critical circumstances, as the video below clearly underscores, thanks a bunch, Donald Trump, I hope you are happy about other's misery you have created for them and the danger to women's health you have caused for them.

This video tells the tale, in very powerful terms.

Transcript (but the video is about the images, the dialogue doesn't get the message across, so please watch the short one minute video)

LAWRENCE O'DONNELL: Harris campaign posted this video today about Amanda and Josh Zowaski (sp?) a Texas couple who attended this year's State of the Union Address by President Biden after what they endured in Texas thanks to Donald Trump

CUT TO: (black screen with typed message overlays ) :

"in 2022, Josh and Amanda were expecting their first baby, Willow"
"At 18 weeks, Amanda's water broke and she had a miscarriage:"
"Because Donald Trump Killed Roe v wade, Amanda was denied standard medical care to prevent an infection, an abortion"
"Doctors were forced to send her home"
"Three days later, she was in the ICU with sepsis"

    "She almost died twice"
"The infection caused so much damage,
"She may never get pregnant, again".

    CUT TO:
(couple reminiscing about a lost child due to miscarriage and the danger to her health she was subjected to due to Trump's killing Roe v Wade) :

...this is one of our Willow boxes this is just filled with some of the things that we had started gathering for her while I was pregnant yep there's her little baby book..this is the outfit that she was going to maybe wear home from the hospital all of these um this is the blanket that she was in her little Footprints it's okay

Well, one solution! Women get out and vote and vote for your privacy and health care. Men, do the same for the women in your lives.

This has to be front and center in Biden's campaign.

The worst part about this is that Trump did it, not because he's particularly anti-abortion... but to score political points.

Trump makes more and more people suffer. He doesn't care, if he thinks it will gain him some votes.

lmao. Roe V wade was overturned in 2022. Trump was and still is a civilian with zero political authority. Guess who was president during this? Biden. :roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol:

True. The consequences of Trump's four years will be felt for decades. And that's the WORST part of the Trump regime.

When was Trump on the Supreme Court? Every state has the right to create laws governing abortion - which, since "control abortion" is not one of the enumerated powers granted to Congress belongs to the states. I thought you Democracy were defending democracy; sound more like you're working to accumulate more and. more power.

Yeah, the consequence of the people of individual states actually governing themselves on issues not specifically, and constitutionally, granted to Congress: The horror.

One day you can open a thread and explain why if you recite "...one nation, under God, Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." you STILL believe that we are 50 nations that torture children, divided into 50 different "countries" in which those who live in one state can have more or less liberties than those who live in another.

Don't bother now... it's a different topic so I'm not going to comment. We'll get to that some day. Or you can open your own thread. But not the topic of this one.

And who appointed the judges with the express claim that he would do so in order to overturn RvW?

    Trump.

No problem - the answer is that is total BS. Nobody is torturing women or children - well maybe your Hamas idols are, but that IS a different story. Oh, and it's NOT you that decides which liberties each state has - it's the people that LIVE in the state; and IF they want changes they can affect them.
All that has happened is that the people of the individual states have been given the powers the Constitution grants them.
. So you throw the stink bomb and run off?

He is going around bragging that he ended Roe (because he appointed the justices that ended roe). Since that is his claim, we have a right to rebut him on his terms that he set.

Yep, and they were lying during the confirmation hearings that they saw RvW as law of the land.

Trump was bragging he killed Roe because of his SC appointments.

Biden didn't create a 6/3 conservative Roe killing court, Trump did.

You are aware of the fact that the three SCOTUS justices that Trump put in place came directly from a Federalist Society list, right? You do know that they were selected by that organization and Mitch McConnell specifically for that purpose, among other far right agenda issues?

BREAKING: ARIZONA COURT RULES THAT NEARLY ALL ABORTION IS ILLEGAL IN STATE

The court decision out of Arizona reminds us there are lots of unknowns still to reveal themselves over the course of this election. This is a pretty big one. The state court ruled that Dobbs means the near complete ban on abortion under an 1864 law must be enforced in the state. If I’m understanding the ruling, it is for the moment stayed. So it doesn’t go into effect today. But it likely will pretty soon. Arizona abortion rights advocates say they already have sufficient signatures to get an abortion ballot initiative on the ballot for November. That’s not confirmed yet. But these groups have a lot of experience knowing the number of excess signatures required to be certain you’re going to get on the ballot. So it’s a safe assumption that that ballot initiative will be on the ballot. It’s just not certain.

So what we seem to be looking at is a situation in which abortion will become illegal and the only recourse is to win that ballot initiative in November. That’s disastrous near-term for Arizona women and potentially very good news for every Democrat on the ballot in the state.

    This too.

Been watching this latest debate since the rumors first started that Roe was going to be revisited by SCOTUS.

It is correct SCOTUS tossed Roe.
It is incorrect to say that they or trump took "away women's reproductive rights" or are now subjecting women to torture et al.

Its this rhetoric that makes it all but impossible to have a reasoned discussion.

What the court did was put the question of abortion on the individual states. Individual states now must decide when or even if abortion is allowed.

Sad stories like the one here do not silence the sad question of the rights of the unborn or the tragic decision women face.
    Alone.

How about we try to eliminate the emotionally charged rhetoric and see if there isn't some common ground we can start with?

That is great, I am sure we can have a less emontionally charged and more nuancred discussion about why gas prices were high in 2021/2022. But, no the typical answer is "Biden did this".

BTW: I generally agree that a more nuanced approach to political discussions would be great. I doubt you will get it on this forum, however. Everything always has to be 100% black and white, to your own party's credit and the other party's fault.

As to the aborion topic, it is pretty clear that red states were salivating at the chance to have control over the abortion issue, so THEY could take women's rights away. And they did just that.

Nope, the House.....then Congress can codify laws to put this injustice to women to rest. The dems will win the Senate and the presidency again in Nov.

I'd say Mitch McConnell deserves more credit/blame. He's the one who really played dirty to make it all happen. Any republican president in today's day and age would have tried to poison the court against RvW. But Trump had far more ammunition to do so because of Mitch McConnell.

I'm against abortion except in cases involving rape, incest, and the mother's life is in danger due to her pregnancy. Having said that I will never have to make that choice. But I think Trump has put out the right policy -- let each state decide. We have 50 states, all the people are different, very different in many ways. I think each state will make the policy that most of the state's people want. I'm in Florida and if Oregon wants to abort babies, then it's none of my business and will not cost me.

I disagree because it's about fundamental rights. The mother has a fundamental right to control her body. The fetus is not a person, and so deserves no rights. But to those who disagree, it's a matter of murder. Leaving it to the states seems more a matter of uncertainty about who is right, than that it ought to be a states rights issue. Murder and the right to ones own body are not typically things you just leave to the states to decide whether they're legal or not. I know murder charges are normally handled by the states, but that doesn't mean it would be okay to have a state where murder, actual murder, is legal.
