Complete nonsense. and you don't even know what a "weapon of war is" other than it is intended to frighten stupid people. You do know that it is already illegal for felons to possess any modern firearm type. And the post you responded to said nothing about guns. so doctor-cure thyself

you brought up guns here, not me.
and "weapons of war" is a code term that people ignorant about firearms use to scare other ignorant people

No. You want to be legally entitled to steal from others, and not make just compensation for what you are taking from them.

If you are legally entitled to do something that is not stealing which by definition is illegal

what i see in this complaint of yours is that you despise the capitalist system and hate the market

In many 'camps' where homeless bums hang out, you'll often see some sign somewhere that proclaims, "Property is theft!" The takeaway? Often, those who have little or nothing don't want anyone else to have anything either....

@Media_Truth is correct, and you are wrong. A weapon of war is a weapon that was designed to be used in a war. For example, the AR-15. THAT's what the purpose it was originally designed for. Therefore, it's a "weapon of war". Whether it was later modified or not does not alter the facts.

    Anyway... just a short comment.

More to the point of this thread, Trump is still a bad person who separated children from their family for the purpose of causing the child and the parents to suffer (a.k.a. "torture").

I only wanted to set the thread back on track. Carry on...

so much disinformation. and tell us GOLEM, what makes owning a "weapon of war" wrong.

Your definition of torture is as inane as your claims about AR 15s.

Both Trump and Biden are, indeed, "bad men", but for essentially different reasons (and I'll spare you a recitation of all those... most of which we know by now).

In a larger sense, we may be at that point as a nation where, given our geopolitical and economic circumstances, it doesn't even really matter who we 'vote for' anymore. As a nation, we are in decline (no doubt of that), but does this really matter to you in the year 2024? Realistically, it may not (surprisingly enough)....

Consider: The greatest "nation" in the history of Western Civilization, the Roman Empire, survived almost 300 years after its last "good" emperor, Marcus Aurelius. To modify an old observation, "Rome wasn't built in a day...." but it didn't fall in a day, either!"

So, surprisingly, it's begun to occur to me that by now, in 2024, the momentum driving America into decline is unstoppable, and it doesn't matter who we 'vote for' now. Mathematically, I cannot massage any calculation I know of that yields a Trump victory, so we'll simply get another Democrat "emperor" (probably not Biden after all), and we'll continue our slow slide downward. Shades of grey! And, it doesn't matter anyway... our decline started in earnest over twenty years ago!

If I have a point it's that because it no longer really matters to us, in America in 2024, there's no use in eating out our stomach linings by worrying about it. We have more years of prosperity and power remaining as a nation than any of us alive today has left to be alive! So, relax, be calm, and enjoy your life....

Conclusion: Trump won't be elected, and some Democrat will be... so, what?! Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da....

It's clear why Trump is a bad man. Not sure I understand why you believe Biden is.

I know that bigots believe America is in "decline" because they believe there are too many immigrants who are not white. They have no idea that immigrants were who made this country great.

The REAL moral decline of this nation will begin when Trump is in prison. The embarrassment of having had a sexual abuser President who used his power to torture children will perdure forever in our History like the embarrassment of having been a nation with slaves.

GARBAGE. The definition says nothing about legality. Read and learn:

"steal, v.t., 1. to take something from another without permission or right, esp secretly or by force" -- Webster's New Universal Unabridged

You are literally claiming that when private tax farmers in the ancient world were legally entitled to go around with a gang of thugs and forcibly take everything of value from people, they weren't stealing from them.

You are literally claiming that when slave owners were legally entitled to take the products of their slaves' labor without paying them wages, they weren't stealing from them.

You are literally claiming that when the Nazis passed a law that legally entitled them to confiscate the property of Jews, they weren't stealing from them.

Not to put too fine a point on it, that is disingenuous, despicable, evil filth. Which is exactly what I have come to expect from you in every post.
I love the free market, which is why I hate capitalism. You love capitalism and hate the free market because capitalism legally entitles you to steal, and the free market does not.

    Proof:
A free market cannot exist under capitalism because by definition, capitalism requires private ownership of the means of production: producer goods (which classical economics called, "capital") and natural resources ("land"). Private ownership of natural resources inherently forces everyone to subsidize the resource owners by paying them for permission to use what nature provided at zero cost. Forced subsidies by definition cannot exist in a free market. QED.

Why would it be a contribution to our national decline (in any sense) for Trump to serve a sentence in prison? If he is found by a jury to have committed crimes, then he must endure the punishment. Indeed, the "crime and punishment" certainty is reflective of what America was like before our decline became so pronounced. I must say, you confused me by indicating there's anything wrong with Trump facing justice under Law and Order just like any other citizen, Golem.

As far as your diversion concerning "bigots" and immigrants "who are not white" is concerned, I made no reference whatever to immigrants, immigrants' color, or anything pertaining to race... so I don't know why you found it necessary to inject a statement like that in your reply.

I will agree, though, that it is a great "embarrassment" to us in our American national history that we ever allowed slavery here. It is an embarrassment which, unfortunately, we share with England, France, Canada, Spain, Portugal, China, India, Japan, Korea, et al, including nearly all of Sub-Saharan Africa (where it is believed that slavery actually began thousands of years ago).... Happily, as we all know, slavery in the United States ended completely 159 years ago!

No; it is indisputable fact, which is why you cannot refute a single word of it, and no one else can, either.
That's another outright fabrication on your part. I have had many disputes with socialists on this and other forums because I argue for private property rights and the free market. They claim I am a defender of capitalism, which I am not. I am a passionate defender of rightful private property in the fruits of one's labor, which is why I hate wrongful private property in other people's rights to liberty. Clear?

If you claim private property is always rightful -- which seems to be your claim -- then you are claiming that chattel slavery was rightful (and I have actually seen soi-disant "libertarians" -- more accurately called "propertarians" -- make that claim). If you admit that private property is not always rightful, you need to give an account of how to tell the difference between rightful and wrongful private property. And you can't. I can.

I missed a word. The recovery from REAL moral decline of this nation will begin when Trump is in prison

I didn't say you did. I said this is why BIGOTS think Biden is a bad man. And I was asking what your reasoning was when you said that Biden is a bad man.

Thank you for helping me to better understand why so many people hate President Donald J. Trump so much!

I believe that he will go down in history as having played in the same league as President Lincoln and JFK.... but they were both flawed and human and made terrible errors on occasion themselves.......

you make up some non-standardized use for a word, claim it applies and claim that makes it factual.

You haven't told us why the hard on against property. This appears to be some sort of affectation.

I don't remember Lincoln or JFK being mentioned in any history book as sexually abusing women, torturing children or inciting an insurrection. In fact, I haven't seen ANY former president in any history book being remembered for anything like that. Looks to me like Trump is opening a new category in which, hopefully, he will be the ONLY member.

I'm not talking about "errors". I don't think Trump sexually abused all those women by "mistake". Not like he tripped and accidently grabbed them by the p***y. And he certainly told us that torturing children was the PURPOSE of his policy, so that parents who saw how children suffered because of his policy they wouldn't want to come. That is not an "error". That is pure evil.

Please remember forum rules: if you have a point to make it's YOUR burden to make it. Quotes, references, links, ... should be used to support your point. But not to make your point for you.

Trump's victims didn't feel that he "betrayed" them. They feel that he RAPED them.

In a way you might not anticipate, I can agree, at least partially, that if Trump is found guilty of committing a crime for which the punishment is imprisonment, then, YES, it would temporarily retard our 'decline and fall', but only in a very limited, microcosmic way. The ruination of the United States is profound and multifaceted, Golem, embracing much more than any one individual liar, con-man, and bombastic, egocentric autocrat (i.e., Donald Trump).

And although you evidently agree with my sentiments about Trump, you would surely dispute my assertion that Biden, too, is a "bad man". Through your forum personna as a highly-partisan liberal, surely nothing else would be anticipated. Thus, while some of our opinions may intersect, others surely would not. If nothing else, surely in your heart-of-hearts, you might agree that even though you dispute an assertion that Biden is a "bad" man, he's definitely bad for the country!

While still in full possession of his mind, Joe Biden was corrupt, actively and passively, and this has been amply demonstrated in a summary review of him in the Biden family "business" going back years! But you will immediately dispute that, demanding "courtroom"-grade proof. His actions as vice-president in Ukraine alone should be adequate, blatant as they were, but nobody in the Democratic Party will admit that... so why would I expect you to...?

I'll wrap this up by suggesting that America's recent, and dramatic slide downward actually began during the administration of White, Republican male George W. Bush! Didn't expect that, did you...? :omg: .And, it's continued, and accelerated ever since. The worst is yet to come, but nobody alive in this country today will have to live to see it....

But, let me offer early congratulations on your party's victory in November (which I've been predicting since January)... Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da! ;)

It is perhaps a decade since I read the website "Red Man's View" but I assume that it can still be found.......

The Red Man's View that I read a decade or so ago was not merely a video..... but was a full website... but it did fit with this video.

Basically.. .the website fitted with the idea that President Lincoln... behaved toward the First Nations Tribes much as Adolf Hitler behaved toward the Jewish people....... I assume that this would be because back in the 1800's..... President Lincoln feared what would happen if the First Nations Tribes were to be given weaponry that would rival that of the USA army.... [one possible group that might have taken that tactic might have been Mexico.... for one example]?!
