It looks like the U.S. is growing the mood to confront fascist russia directly.
If we do end up bombing fascist russia, now is better then later, as Ukrainians significantly weakened and tied Russian military. I hope the U.S. is preparing its global strike capabilities, in case we need it.

Russia is in trouble now - all significant political groups are taking an aggressive stance against fascist Russia. Closed airspace and direct participation in the conflict is not out of question anymore.

I hope we at least give Ukraine enough planes and air defenses to make a real difference for them. Russia's imploding economy and civil unrest should do the rest.

This shows that the support for directly confronting Russia is becoming wide and even includes Trump and his most hardcore followers.
It’s a bad thing for fascist russia. ;)

Wanted to add that, in general, I’m against directly confronting fascist Russia, but if all political forces are on board with it then why not?
I think our direct involvement in the conflict won’t result in nuclear war, and event if it does - judging from the state of the Russian military, a huge majority of Russian nukes won’t be able to take off. But, attempt to use them will spell absolute doom and disintegration of fascist Russia.

I've actually heard from some Trump supporters who think this is somehow a good idea.

Its pretty clear to me that Putin wants it - how are you going to avoid it? Appeasement? If we give Russia Ukraine, then we will give China Taiwan, and Russians will go after Moldova, Georgia, Baltic states, and, possibly, Finland with Poland.

The last world war shut down at least three militaristic dictatorships and brought peace and prosperity to much of the world.

I hate the Mutually Assured Destruction, MAD doctrine right now. It is basically being used as a shield for Putin to do whatever the hell he wants as long as he doesn't directly attack NATO. We are too petrified to do the right thing and step in to save these people.

I see the signs of our governments warming up to that idea. Russian nukes should not be a blank check for their despots to unleash violence on their neighbors.

That idiotic suggestion does not represent the "mood" of the US. No one else is suggesting anything as stupid as bombing Russia and then blaming China for it.

How is anything short of WW3 'appeasement'. Russia is going down the drain very fast.

True, most Trump fans are ignoring what he says he would do and are busy saying out of one side of their mouth that this is happening because Biden is too weak, while saying out of the other side that they wish he was weaker.

But, there is an increase in support for going further with supporting Ukraine. That “further” includes sending fighter jets and good SAM systems, as well as a possibility of closing Ukrainian skies.

Who would fly those planes, and closing the airspace aka shooting down Russian planes would be an act of war.

Ukrainians themselves can fly the fighter jets that are being discussed right now.
Sending lethal weapons to a country that is at war is already pretty much taking a side and participation in the conflict. A fighter jet and a Javelin have one thing in common - both are advanced weapons. We, the western world, are already at war with fascist russia - not everyone just caught up to that fact yet.

Many righties would be ok to sacrifice Ukraine and the rest of europe if it means a republican dictature is installed.

Not really. Ukraine today is more like Spain in the 30's. It's sadly, a neutral battlezone. Only if Russia attack a Nato allies directly will this become a war with Russia.

What kind of training have then received on planes like F35, or what planes are you talking about?

The CCP is probably very tempted to start bombing Russia with Chinese planes with Chinese flags.
What percentage of the Russian military has Putin committed to his war against Ukraine?

Another inconvenient and apparently forgotten truth:

The primary territorial threat to Russia is China - not Europe.

Pretty much....what I'm thinking is some S400 operator decides to send a couple missiles into a Nato state for kicks or something.....and that escalates fast from there. Not saying that happens....but could be some nut job just the same.

The hand-wringing west probably still wouldn't do anything.
