New Trump tax policy just dropped.

Im generally for any tax cut.
Will he support an appropriate reduction in spending?

Another statement of hot air that Trump would never make happen which is why it can't be called a "policy".

Well that's the rub. In theory, I'm supportive of Social Security being non taxable, as well as the no tax on servers tips, but to make up the difference the money should come from somewhere.

Not only no taxes on SS payments, once retired, property tax should no longer be assessed. Granted, that's a state issue, but being continued tax on property you "own" should have a stale date.

It's good if the goal is to increase deficits & debt. We already know spending goes up under his policies. History proves that.

Comment "the money should come from somewhere" addressed something. Okey dokey.

    Obviously.

Saying the difference should come from somewhere lends to that odd Democrat belief that everything ultimately belongs to the almighty government.

If government takes less from us, then it should just have to do with less.

Well historically, that's almost never happened, and we've simply gotten larger deficits as a result. I favor a balanced budget amendment to end that farce.

If you want deficit reduction, you need to vote for a Democratic president and a Republican Congress and Senate. Only time you’ll ever see anyone try to cut anything.

The president did not elaborate on the proposal to make Social Security tax-free for senior citizens.

    What are your thoughts?

If we're talking about protecting the benefits of the elderly to keep up with the cost of living, I am for it, but if we're talking about decreasing benefits, and throwing in a tax cut that doesn't even make up for those loses, then the whole thing is meaningless

The underlying issue is maintaining social security benefits in a manner than is financially stable, which is going to require some adjustments in our current taxing and spending tendencies

Trump didn't post anything about decreasing benefits.

Nah not when it’s good policy. I would raise the cap on how much you can earn before you start paying taxes.

How about we get rid of Social Security entirely and move it to a retirement savings account?

Closing the EPA, Education and Energy Department will cut spending.

SS is not taxed in Puerto Rico. Interest made on Savings Accounts is also not taxed.
