Of course he listens he didn't come up with all they did on his own, he met constantly with his task force with his VP in charge of it. Biden BRAGGED about his task force yet refuses to tell us what they are advising him all he says is he will talk with other scientist.

I see you're uninterested in discussing anything Powell has to say.

Democrats and their like have been pushing closing down more than dealing with the problem of ventilation and masks. Democrats have been busy breaking windows in stores, not for ventilation either. Shutting down to flatten a curve, one thing, continual shutdowns are another. This REPUBLICAN has been pushing masks too, I just don't want people losing their fracking businesses, jobs, and houses...

This Republican knows full well that not one real competent Doctor on here or anywhere is going to advise everyone with Covid-19 to stay in the Hospital and not go home in their fracking car.

No government has the ability to cut and hold down transmission, just as no government has the ability to stop people from using drugs or having sex in certain positions. Anybody that believes otherwise has not studied human history, or is totally fooling himself.

DeSantis pretty much did everything right.

    Thank you.

And you are right, DeSantis didn't do enough, but that is ALL of them. The easiest way to not get HIV when doing it anyway is with a condom, telling a certain lifestyle not be promiscuous never worked. No State started any kind of mask manufacture in a State Owned Enterprise when masks were unavailable in any stores and sites like Amazon even forbid us to even see N95 masks. No attempt whatsoever was made to keep businesses open with ventilation... They made outside on the windy beach illegal, with a threatened $500 fine, before they made one mask and gave it to an elderly person. The buses still ran, but hey, they didn't open windows on buses in New York till July?

Like someone said, Democrats represent the poor, but not one measure was ever done to really protect the poor, except, closing their minority owned small businesses instead of figuring out how to keep them open.

Look at New Yorker's screaming now. When the only solution is a shutdown, something is fracked up and it isn't the Jews or the Federal Government.

    Not true.

"In 1985, the first federal resources dedicated to HIV prevention were made available to all state and local health departments nationwide. In 1987, a national effort to educate the public about HIV and AIDS was launched and CDC created a comprehensive AIDS information resource, the CDC National AIDS Hotline and National AIDS Information Clearinghouse. Comprehensive school-based HIV education to inform and educate young persons began in 1987, and funding for national, regional, and community-based organizations began in 1988.

The first research on effective behavior interventions to reduce transmission of HIV among sex partners and injection drug users began in the early 1980s. Behavior interventions, including school-based programs, peer-to-peer interventions, strategies that limit needle sharing, strategies that use parent-to-child communication, client-centered counseling, and personalized risk-reduction strategies, are effective in promoting healthy behaviors that are protective for HIV (8).

PHS released guidelines in 1994 and 1995 for routinely counseling and voluntarily testing pregnant women for HIV and for offering zidovudine to infected women and their infants (9). Since this intervention, mother-to-child HIV transmission rates have decreased dramatically. During 1985--1999, AIDS cases among children declined 81%.

As a result of these and other HIV prevention efforts and increases in societal awareness of and response to the AIDS epidemic, new infections in the United States, which had risen rapidly to a peak of 150,000 per year in the mid-1980s, declined to an estimated 40,000 per year since 1992."

Democrats have been pushing the use of masks and Trump has even mocked Biden in their debate for wearing one.

Your point about working on measures other than a shutdown is precisely what British Columbia in Canada has done. (I know because my wife and are hanging out in BC rather than Oregon because BC is working on ventilation and masks. My BC barber has to wear a mask to stay open, but the general mask instruction is a suggestion to wear one where distancing is an issue.)
Suggesting Democrats are rioting is no more fair than saying Republicans are marching with white supremacists.
No disagreement here. British Columbia closed some businesses (not all) and begin reopening in early May.
I don't know how you can say Republicans are pushing masks when Trump is mocking Biden for wearing one.

    From your link:
    "Editorial Note:
AIDS in the United States remains primarily an epidemic affecting MSM and racial/ethnic minorities. A new generation of MSM has replaced those who benefitted from early prevention strategies, and minority MSM have emerged as the population most affected by HIV. Socioeconomic factors (e.g., homophobia, high rates of poverty and unemployment, and lack of access to health care) are associated with high rates of HIV risk behaviors among minority MSM and are barriers to accessing HIV testing, diagnosis, and treatment (4). Minority MSM may not identify themselves as homosexual or bisexual because of the stigma attached to these activities and may be difficult to reach with HIV prevention messages. In addition, the proportion of AIDS cases attributed to heterosexual contact and among women is substantially greater than earlier in the epidemic."

So I stand my what I said.

I don't go to bars...but I do see videos where people go to them, the thing that gets me is that in areas like Florida, where it doesn't get too cold, knowing it is airborne, just exchanging the air with a good attic type fan for a couple hundred bucks would help a great deal. Plexiglass great for spit, not so good for the stuff floating around.

I used to work in a plant that when the air conditioning failed, we opened the hanger doors on both ends, nice, then they shut, the Union told us that it violated EPA regulations to open the doors; we got paid extra for the potential lung, heart, kidney, liver, and cancers... Ventilation does help.

    I didn't watch the debate, because I swore an oath several times to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic, which makes a vote for Biden/Obamanation 100% impossible;

"The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of [those that believe blacks are Kenites the descendants of Cain and the mark is upon them]." (Clinton)

Trump on masks could be why I will be vomiting on election night, after voting for Trump.

    No, he didn't.

My wife and I decided not to return to Oregon because British Columbia (5.1m people) is holding transmission down without issuing a stay-at-home order.

Florida (21.5m people) has 14,903 COVID-19 deaths, roughly 15 times the death rate of British Columbia.

I don't know about you LM, but the numbers generated in this country for the last 9 months have been so wildly exaggerated that they are meaningless.

Maybe Canada does it a bit more honestly. I hope so.

Things in Florida have not been bad compared to other states up north.

That was over a decade ago. She's completely revised her views on the justice system. Do you believe people make up their minds at 18, and never alter their views?

Everyone has to do what they have to do.

My father ... enlisted USMC (WW2), his brother ... Major General USA (WW2), my mother's brother ... Colonel USAAC/USAF (WW2, Korea, Vietnam), my father-in-law ... Colonel USAAC/USAF (WW2, Korea, test pilot)--they all supported Democratic and Republican Presidents.

All of the politicians? The people themselves?

DeSantis, rightly or wrongly, limited mediation efforts by local officials.
States can't make 3M license patented products. The Feds can.

Someone should produce effective respirator products. I have N95 masks I wear when I can't distance.
British Columbia sends health officials around to work with businesses so they can open--and stay open because they don't help transmit the virus. The movie business in BC going full tilt.
Democrats were less able to protect small business and help low-income workers as unions weakened and began disappearing from private enterprise. The party drifted to increasing control of women, minorities, LGBTQ, environmentalists.

The reason things don't get done at the State level is because of that attitude.

After getting my takeout the other day I went to a park to eat, and this kid was doing weird flips and stuff in the grass, over and over he would do them, check his GoPro or whatever, and go back, over and over. 3M doesn't have a patent on those flips, nor is the Fed required for him to make them.

    I didn't say 3M, I said "N95."

The States don't need 3M to make N95 masks.
"N95 masks are an industry standard providing virus blocking technology and some patents claim similar features. Apart from the N95 mask, patents are filed to claim multiple features that provide safety from the virus. 3M owns hundreds of patents that mention the keyword N95." https://patentbusinesslawyer.com/is-n95-mask-patented/#Is_N95_Mask_Patented

What unions {side note, mine, IAMAW} have to do with whether a furniture store, very low risk of transmission, owned my a minority, shutdown in New York for no reason whatsoever just because of where it is, has to do with any union, I just can't figure.
