Ari just showed a clip that's gone "viral" (Geez, I hate that term) of Soprano's lawyer Joe Tacopina say the hush money scheme is illegal and fraud and a potential campaign finance violation....in 2018, on fake news CNN

    https://www.mediaite.com/tv/watch-t...illegal-agreement-during-2018-cnn-appearance/

But he's a lawyer, so now he'll gum flap the other side for whoever is paying him (making an assumption there)

'Bomb threat disrupts NY court where Trump case is being heard'

"A bomb threat was called into a lower Manhattan court on Tuesday just before a judge was set to hear a $250 million lawsuit against former President Trump.

The threat was investigated by police and the courthouse was closed and searched, with authorities finding that the threat was unfounded, according to court spokesman Lucian Chalfen, who confirmed the news to Bloomberg".

The threat in the lower Manhattan court came as law enforcement braces for potential protests ahead of what Trump predicted is his looming arrest in the Manhattan investigation into hush payments made to Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 elections.

Trump said over the weekend that he expected to be arrested in connection to the probe on Tuesday. He called on his supporters to protest the hypothetical arrest, raising fears that violence could ensue as it did after his calls to action before and on Jan. 6, 2021, which was a precursor to the deadly riots at the Capitol."

Discredited in the first sentence by using Snopes - a known fake 'fact checking' site, just like Politicfact.

That Slate article is from 2017 when Snopes was still run by these questionable so-called journalists:

David Mikkelson, the co-founder of the fact-checking website Snopes, has long presented himself as the arbiter of truth online, a bulwark in the fight against rumors and fake news. But he has been lying to the site's tens of millions of readers: A BuzzFeed News investigation has found that between 2015 and 2019, Mikkelson wrote and published dozens of articles containing material plagiarized from news outlets such as the Guardian and the LA Times.

After inquiries from BuzzFeed News, Snopes conducted an internal review and confirmed that under a pseudonym, the Snopes byline, and his own name, Mikkelson wrote and published 54 articles with plagiarized material. The articles include such topics as same-sex marriage licenses and the death of musician David Bowie.

Snopes VP of Editorial and Managing Editor Doreen Marchionni suspended Mikkelson from editorial duties pending "a comprehensive internal investigation." He remains an officer and a 50% shareholder of the company.

Even if Soros did lend Trump money, so what? It's a loan, meaning Trump would repay it. Completely different to Soros funding Bragg.

Former acting U.S. Attorney General Matthew Whitaker says the case against former President Donald Trump is "weak."

Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, appears to be arguing for in the legalese, Whitaker outlines, "is that while the agreement was entered into in 2016, it was paid over time."

"I mean, you know, Miss Daniels got her money. But Mr. Cohen who you know is the star witness for the government, a convicted felon, was paid allegedly $35,000 at a time over the course of several years, and that's the only way that you can get that seven years that have run since that agreement in that five-year statute of limitations. I think it's a stretch. I think this is a very weak case and a very aggressive prosecutor that just wants to get Trump," said Whitaker.

    Twice?

You'd think a former ACTING AG would know that the case is not about Stormy getting paid or really even Cohen getting paid back....

But yes, the continuing of the payments to Cohen over a year timeframe makes the SOL start later than the original Stormy payment

I'm not a lawyer and I get those concepts.... One sad excuse for an ACTING AG/Bootlicker

    OY Vey!

We'll see just how far this defense goes in court.
Emailing back and forth with a potential client and gathering info on the person who you now represent really isn't a conflict of interest because you didn't meet in person or talk on the phone.

'Communications between Stormy Daniels and Trump attorney turned over to Manhattan DA'

    Source: CNN

"Communications between adult-film star Stormy Daniels and an attorney who is now representing former President Donald Trump have been turned over to the Manhattan district attorney’s office, Daniels’ lawyer told CNN.

The exchanges – said to date back to 2018, when Daniels was seeking representation – raise the possibility that the Trump attorney, Joe Tacopina, could be sidelined from his defense of the former president in a case pertaining to Trump’s alleged role in a scheme to pay hush money to Daniels.

Daniels’ communications with Tacopina and others at his firm include details relating to Daniels’ situation, according to her current attorney Clark Brewster, who believes the communications show a disclosure of confidential information from Daniels.

Tacopina denies that there is a conflict or that confidential information was shared with his office. He says he neither met nor spoke to Daniels.

CNN has not seen the records in question. But legal ethics experts CNN spoke with said they could lead to limits being placed on the role Tacopina can play at trial or even his disqualification. The impact that the disclosure will have on the case will depend on the circumstances and the substance of the communications, the ethics experts said."

    Michael Cohen warned you.
    Run Joey run.

"A 2018 television interview that Tacopina did with CNN’s Don Lemon resurfaced in recent days, in which Tacopina suggested he may have been in contact with Daniels before she found another attorney in the hush money matter, which at the time was the focus of a federal investigation.

“I can’t really talk about my impressions or any conversations we’d had because there is an attorney-client privilege that attaches even to a consultation,” Tacopina said in the 2018 interview. As the old interview clip began making the rounds again, Tacopina’s firm issued a statement this weekend that said “there was no attorney-client relationship” – a point Tacopina stands by today.

On Tuesday, Tacopina told CNN that his 2018 interview comments “lacked clarity” and he said that he referenced an attorney-client privilege in the TV appearance “to terminate the inquiry, because someone on Stormy Daniel’s behalf did ask whether I would represent her, and I did not wish to discuss the matter on television.”

“However, those circumstances do not give rise to an attorney-client relationship in any form,” Tacopina said Tuesday.

Comparing Jesus with a PAB is committing blasphemy. lol

'Who Had It Worse, Trump or Jesus Christ?'

'In MAGA-world and Christian Nationalism circles, many Trump supporters see his imminent arrest as eerily similar to the crucification of Jesus Christ.'

    snip:

"Lawyer Joseph McBride, who is representing a handful of Jan. 6 defendants, thinks that the timing of Trump’s likely arrest is notable.

“President Trump will be arrested during lent—a time of suffering and purification for the followers of Jesus Christ,” McBride wrote on Twitter. “As Christ was crucified, and then rose again on the 3rd day, so too will @realdonaldtrump.”

When he faced some pushback on comparing Trump’s plight to Jesus Christ’s hours-long torture, McBride doubled down. “JESUS LOVES DONALD TRUMP. JESUS DIED FOR DONALD TRUMP. JESUS LIVES INSIDE DONALD TRUMP,” McBride tweeted. “DEAL WITH IT.”

Other Trump supporters see eerie similarities between the Manhattan DA and the Romans who crucified Jesus."

There is nothing fake about Snopes. One member of staff plagiarizing material does not in any way make Snopes fake or dishonest.

Obviously the right-wing liars whose lies get debunked by Snopes are desperate to disparage Snopes.

'Exclusive: Trump 'hush money' grand jury called off for Wednesday, delaying possible indictment vote'

    Source: Business Insider

"The Manhattan 'hush-money' grand jury has been told not to come in on Wednesday, a cancellation that comes on the brink of a possible historic indictment vote of former President Donald Trump, according to two law enforcement officers.

And while nothing beyond Wednesday is set in stone, it is unlikely that the grand jury will meet at all this week, said one of the law enforcement sources, who spoke to Insider on condition of anonymity.

The grand jury has been meeting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to hear evidence of Trump's alleged role in approving a 2016 election-eve payment of $130,000 to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, money that federal prosecutors have called an illegal campaign expenditure. Star prosecution witness Michael Cohen had told reporters as recently as last week that he had expected to be the grand jury's final witness.

Had that remained the plan, Cohen's testimony, which concluded last Wednesday, would have been quickly followed by deliberation and a vote. But today's pause in the grand jury's activity — especially if the panel does take the rest of this week off — will likely delay the process into next week."

I doubt your mafia boss theory applied to Trump would be persuasive in a court of law.
