LOL-- according to you, when hasn't "Biden's corruption," been in the news? I honestly have no idea what "corruption" you are referring to-- we obviously watch very different news programs.

The reason for the timing, however, is because the statute of limitations-- which New York paused, while Trump was in office-- is about to run out.

So when Jared Kushner gets $2 billion from Mohammed Bin Salman, to please Trump for being easy on him for Khashoggi's brutal murder, you don't give a hoot, But, when there isn't one bit of evidence that points to any corruption by Biden, the kind of evidence that will withstand forensic scrutiny, as in actual evidence, then you care about 'corruption'.

    You're quite the guy, Moolk.

You'll never admit that the House committee on the 'weaponization of government' investigation is a witch hunt, as clearly demonstrated in a number of videos.

Look to the Republican party if you really want to understand the anatomy of a witch hunt. I recall 4 years and 8 investigations on Benghazi regarding Hillary Clinton, and after all that, all the taxpayer dough spent, they weren't able to pin anything on her, but they sure didn't mind that during George Bush, there were 13 embassy attacks and 66 people died.

Republicans are flaming hypocrites, but you'll never admit that, eh?

Of course not, you believe Trump, the biggest grifter conman that ever occupied the White House.

She won't get the Trump base, she's hawkish on Ukraine, but at least she understands the importance of winning for Ukraine.

Sure you can. But for Cohen's paying $130k to Daniels, there would be no payments to Cohen by Trump to the same amount.

Clearly, it will be revealed that Cohen was merely the conduit between Trump and Daniels to fog the Trump to Daniels transaction.

A good prosecutor could easily persuade a jury on that point, for one good reason: it's the truth.

By acting as the conduit for the Trump to Daniels de facto payment, he was complicit in the felony campaign finance violation. When you are complicit in the crime, you are indicted for the same crime as would have been charged his co-conspirator 'individual-1' who, BTW, wasn't prosecuted only because he was President

Apparently you haven't though it through enough to do your homework. .

    https://giannicriminallaw.com/what-are-the-possible-penalties-for-a-complicity-charge/
    What Constitutes Criminal Complicity?
New York’s criminal complicity laws provide that if one person perpetrates a crime, someone else is criminally accountable for that same crime if the second person, “solicits, requests, commands, importunes, or intentionally aids” the first person in the commission of the crime.

This means that an accomplice may be charged for the same crime as the person who actually perpetrates the crime. If you are an accomplice to burglary, for instance, you may be charged with burglary, but if you are an accomplice to a murder, you could be charged with murder.

I have stated, in the OP, I am against a hush money campaign violation indictment

But there is a big difference with what HIllary did, allegedily misrepresenting the Steele Dossier/Fusion GPS payments, and Trump's de facto payments to Stormy.

    What was the difference?

In Trump's case, the payment was hush money to prevent the public from finding out about his fornicating with a porn star just after his newlywed wife gave birth.

In the DNC and HIllary's case, the FEC alleged that they misrepresented campaign expenditures, which got her an $8k fine. IF the DOJ had pursued this, it would
probably have been tried as a misdemeanor, and I believe it is DOJ policy not to pursue misdemeanors on political candidates, given the perception that it would be political and what would be the gain for the nation? The public doesn't see these kinds deeds as particularly criminal, and, again, another reason why I do not support the hush money payment as an indictment, unless it is included in a much more serious charge.

Trump's defrauding the electorate is in the 'Trump v United States' kind of crime.

How many times do you have to be told?

It's a 'de facto' contribution if the prosecutor succeeds in persuading the jury that the Daniels, Cohen, Trump arrangement was set up to hide the de facto payment to Daniels from Trump via Cohen, in other words, set up specifically to make it appear to be a legitimate legal expense. It's mens rea -- a guilty state of mind.

Cohen is still guilty under NY Complicity laws.

Caveat: IANAL, this is my lay understanding of the law.

So you think he should not be arrested, even if he broke the law?

So....why is it an offence in the USA to pay voluntarily pay money to someone to buy their silence on a matter not involving a breach of the Law? Obviously it must be in some way, but can anyone explain it to me?

Oh BS, every prosecutor I've ever heard lecture on this point, that relying on criminals to indict criminals is done, ALL THE TIME, given the simple fact that criminals tend to work with criminals, noting that the criminals are the ones who are up front and close to the target.

Convincing a jury on Cohen's credibility will be easy, once it is made clear his 'lying' was done to protect Trump, he did his crimes 'at the direction of, and the benefit for, Donald Trump" and he took responsibility for his crimes, pleaded guilty to the 8 counts he was indicted for.. Once Trump threw him under the bus, and Cohen went to jail for the very crime Trump committed, he will not benefit personally from testifying, he already served his time, and they will believe him.

Listen to former prosecutor (30 years Washington DC federal ) disabuse Cohen's detractors of that credibility myth, in robust detail..

The payment itself, was not illegal. What made it illegal, are campaign finance laws, requiring the reporting of contributions.

Oh, was he the GOP nominee at the time, or seeking GOP nomination.

Sorry, I reckon I am being stupidly pedantic here. If Cohen is guilty as he pleaded then as night follows day......

These machinations we're all late in the game. In fact, Cohen didn't close the deal with Daniels, until October 28th. Here is an article from just yesterday, which gives a full timeline:

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cb...igation-timeline-manhattan-district-attorney/

    <Snip>
    2016
June: Karen McDougal, an actress and former Playboy model, begins trying to sell her story of an alleged affair she had with Trump in 2006 and 2007. She retains attorney Keith Davidson, who approaches the National Enquirer about a possible deal.

July 19: Trump secures the Republican Party's nomination for president.

Aug. 5: The National Enquirer secures the rights to McDougal's account for $150,000 but never publishes her story, a tactic known as "catch and kill." Federal prosecutors later say the agreement was meant "to suppress [her] story so as to prevent it from influencing the election."

August and September: Cohen reaches an agreement with David Pecker, the chairman and CEO of the National Enquirer's parent company, American Media, Inc. (AMI), to secure the non-disclosure portion of the company's deal with McDougal for $125,000. The deal between Cohen and AMI is never finalized, but Cohen retains a copy of the draft agreement.

Oct. 8: Daniels is now also represented by Davidson, who tells Dylan Howard, the editor-in-chief of the National Enquirer, that she is willing to go on the record about her alleged affair. Howard and Pecker inform Cohen about the conversation and put Cohen in touch with Davidson.

Cohen negotiates a deal to pay Daniels $130,000 in exchange for the rights to her story and a non-disclosure agreement.

Oct. 17: Cohen files paperwork to incorporate a firm known as Essential Consultants LLC in Delaware.

Oct. 25: No deal with Daniels has been finalized, and Davidson tells Cohen, Howard and Pecker that his client is close to reaching an agreement with another outlet to tell her story. Cohen agrees to finalize the deal.

Oct. 26: Cohen opens a bank account for Essential Consultants and transfers $131,000 he obtained by taking out a home equity line of credit into the new account.

Oct. 27: Cohen wires $130,000 to Davidson, Daniels' attorney.

Nov. 1: Cohen receives signed copies of the agreement between "Peggy Peterson" and "David Dennison." It is dated Oct. 28.
    <End Snip>

While this case is not one that has especially compelled my attention, I would concur with your diurnal model.

Sure it's important....FOR UKRAINE. That's the whole bleeping point. At least in WWII, Pearl Harbor got attacked. I see no point in our pouring arms into Ukraine. It didn't really work in Vietnam, or Iraq, or Afghanistan. But we believe it'll work differently this time, because we're in 'solidarity with ukraine!' LMAO.

Imagine the framers war for independence, just to be a client state of the Europeans.

"Lock her up, lock her up....". You didn't chant that, did you?

Maybe Hillary should have called on her mob to protest those chants for her political prosecution. Oh, wait, Hillary didn't have a mob.

In other words, Trump's lawyer said he made up Tuesday as the day he'll get arrested after reading the Manhattan DAs leak.

'Trump calls for protests of what he claims is his imminent arrest'

' But advisers to the former president said they have no specific knowledge of the timing of an indictment in the Manhattan case'

" Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said Saturday morning there had been no “notification” of an indictment and said Trump’s supporters should attend a rally he is holding next week in Texas for his 2024 reelection.

Susan Necheles, a lawyer for Trump, said his remark about the timing of his arrest was gleaned from media reports on Friday about local and federal law enforcement players expecting to convene early next week to discuss security and logistics related to Trump’s expected indictment.

Since this is a political prosecution, the District Attorney’s office has engaged in a practice of leaking everything to the press, rather than communication with President Trump’s attorneys as would be done in a normal case,” Necheles said in a statement."
