    Sandy Shanks said:
Considering the four principle criminal cases involving the former Republican President -- inciting an insurrection against our elected government, theft of hundreds of pages of classified documents, attempting to defraud the voters in Georgia, and the payment of hush money to a porn star -- clearly the last alleged criminal action was the least important and the weakest case.

Now, presumably, the case involving the porn star is over.
    ******************************************************************************************************************************************************

The media was wrong in its presumption. Trump's lawyers are shocked.

    And I was wrong.

The Post reports along with every other media source in its own fashion, "A Manhattan grand jury has voted to indict former president Donald Trump, his lawyers said on Thursday, making him the first person in U.S. history to serve as commander in chief and then be charged with a crime.

"The grand jury had been hearing evidence about hush money paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, allegedly to keep her from saying she’d had a sexual encounter with Trump years earlier.

"The indictment has yet to be unsealed, so the charges and specific allegations were not immediately clear, but Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his investigative team were probing whether Trump falsified business records connected to the payments in a way that could constitute a campaign-finance violation."

Of course, Trump plays the victim card for his gullible followers. He claims he is never responsible for what he has done.

Trump, who has long railed against law enforcement officials, particularly when it comes to investigation of his conduct, quickly issued a statement condemning the indictment. Democrats, he charged, “have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable — indicting a completely innocent person" who paid $130,000 to keep quiet an affair he never had.

The Guardian reports, "According to the Wall Street Journal, the office of the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, has presented the grand jury with evidence involving the former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who claims to have had an extramarital affair with Trump beginning in 2006.

"The National Enquirer, which endorsed Trump’s first presidential bid, agreed to pay McDougal $150,000 for her story about the alleged affair. But the tabloid ultimately did not publish McDougal’s account, effectively quashing the story in an industry tactic known as “catch and kill."

    Tuesday? Tuesday? Anybody say Tuesday?

Who said Trump would be arrested on a Tuesday?

... Ahhhh... it was TRUMP! Curses! For a second there I though I could lay claim to the prediction in the title.

I'm worried that you haters will be doing an inappropriate dance when and if the arrest comes, as though you "have finally got him!!!"

And you may yet; but please bear this in mind:

The Sixth Amendment guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay, the right to a lawyer, the right to an impartial jury, and the right to know who your accusers are and the nature of the charges and evidence against you.

Also to be lost in the delirium following his arrest are the legal principle of presumption of innocence and that the prosecution bears the burden of proving that the defendant is guilty beyond all reasonable doubt. This means that the prosecution must convince the jury that there is no other reasonable explanation that can come from the evidence presented at trial.

Who here can be impartial if called to serve on Trump's jury, should he be indicted? Who here is willing to entertain the possibility that maybe, just maybe, Trump paid off Stormy Daniels because he was afraid that his wife and children would be ashamed of him? This as opposed to "he did it to gain political advantage."

I fear passions are too deep at this point for anything resembling an impartial jury or a fair trial.

This statement totally discredits your post tail line as the ultimate source for the truth. You have convicted someone before they have been tried. not that that is anything new. You have been calling Trump a criminal for as long as I have been posting here with no convictions. That undermines your credibility.

If the trial is held in Manhattan, expect a guilty verdict. It’s like prosecuting a defendant in Washington, DC. All Democrats are “not guilty” there. This is what the country has come to because of the education system.

You said "Trump will be arrested Tuesday" in the thread title.... not "Trump says he will be arrested Tuesday"... 2 weeks ago... your claim missed it a bit...
but as some on here can't quote Trump saying "march peacefully and patriotically" correctly it is no surprise...

What are you talking about. I can't convict anybody. And he WILL be tried. So I would expect you to be very happy. I'm sure, deep down, you MUST be. Unlike those religious cultists on Fox who put their religious faith for Trump before love for their country.

You have repeatedly claimed that Trump is a criminal despite the fact that he has never been convicted.

Of course! The moment you commit a crime, you're a criminal. But that has to be proven in court to become a CONVICTED criminal. Trump loyalists have been demanding court hearings. Now they are getting them. And they don't look too happy about it. Could it be because they REALIZED that he IS a criminal? Evidence is very public. So it is very likely that they were just in denial. And now they are just thinking getting what they wished for was not so great after all.

Do you have an opinion as to whether Trump is guilty of the crimes alleged in the indictment?

It is interesting that you don't apply the same standards to Hillary Clinton, who deleted many emails, destroyed devices in an apparent effort to hide evidence and paid a fine for an illegal payment to fund Steele Dossier. There are even a few liberals on these boards who have breathed a sigh of relief as Hillary has, I hope, ridden off into the political sunset. You also have no interest in the possibly illegal activities of the Biden Family. You don't even want to investigate it despite the existence of a laptop which might evidence on it.

As is often said, there is one system of justice for Democrats and another for Republicans.

I'd say that this claim by Trump has more bad mileage on it than Stormy Daniels.

Trump doesn't write most of his social media posts anyway so all he has to do is have one of his stooges sign the Truth Social post attacking Stormy & Co, yes?

'Donald Trump to appear by video as judge reinforces ban on attacking witnesses'

By MICHAEL R. SISAK34 minutes ago
NEW YORK (AP) — The judge in Donald Trump’s criminal case is holding a hybrid hearing Tuesday to make doubly sure the former president is aware of new rules barring him from using evidence to attack witnesses.

Trump won’t have to show up to court for the afternoon hearing at a Manhattan courthouse, avoiding the mammoth security and logistical challenges that accompanied his arraignment last month.'

Trump is allowed to speak publicly about the case, but he risks being held in contempt if he uses evidence turned over by prosecutors in the pretrial discovery process to target witnesses or others involved in the case.'

THANK GOD! I'd already finished with coffee.
"Grand Jury Leaks:" "lying fake news"
We've seen this so many times before, no denial of the leak only that the person who leaked should be found or in this case maligned. I consider it a positive that they recognize the truth in what is said even if they believe we can't handle the truth.

We know about the audio with Trump and Cohen discussing Pecker and Weisselberg and the 150,000 to Karen McDougal.
    A new Trump audio?

Cohen may have also tapped other conversations with Trump's people and David Pecker's National Enquirer arranging NDAs and monies to McDougal and Stormy?

U.S. Prosecutors in Trump's criminal case say they have recording of Trump and a witness

    Source: CBS News

'Prosecutors in former President Donald Trump's Manhattan criminal case have released to his attorneys a recording of Trump and a witness, whose identity was not disclosed, according to a document the office made public Friday.

The document, called an automatic discovery form, describes the nature of the charges against a defendant and a broad overview of the evidence that prosecutors will present at Trump's preliminary hearing or at trial. Trump's attorneys and media organizations, including CBS News, had repeatedly requested that such a form be made public in the weeks since Trump's arrest on April 4.

In a section devoted to electronic evidence that will be turned over, a prosecutor for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office indicated they have disclosed to the defense a "recording of a conversation between defendant and a witness."

"The section also indicates prosecutors intend to disclose recordings of calls between witnesses and others.'

Trump faces additional charges of obstruction of justice, retention (W/superseding indictment)

Source: St Louis Post Dispatch Today

'WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former President Donald Trump is facing additional charges in the Justice Department's classified documents investigation.

The additional allegations of obstruction and willful retention of national defense information were added to the indictment Thursday by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith's team of prosecutors.

A new defendant, Carlos De Oliveira, was also added to the case.

The superseding indictment can be found below. The first mention I see of defendant De Oliveira is on page 24, when he helps Nauta carry boxes.

Bottom of page 28: De Oliveira asks Trump Employee #5 not to tell anyone Nauta was "coming down" because that trip was supposed to be kept secret. Page 29, Nauta wanted De O' to ask Trump employee #4 how long security footage was kept. On June 29th, Nauta and De O' walked through the tunnel and pointed out surveillance cameras. Later that night, De O' had a private conversation regarding the security cameras with Trump Employee #4, which he asked to remain secret. He asked how many days the footage was retained on the server, was told it was about 45 days -- and then said "the boss" wanted the server deleted! Trump employee #4 said he told De O' that he should reach out to a Trump security supervisor, and De O' insisted that "the boss" wanted the server deleted.

On page 30, Trump reaches out through Trump employee #5 to ask if De O' is loyal. On hearing that he was, Trump called De O' and said he'd get him an attorney.'
