With regard to climate change, do people think:

  1. We should obscure sunlight if possible

SIGH - same man-made radioactive isotope comment as above.

This is like watching someone tell you they are going to ride their Kawasaki Ninja from LA to Norfolk VA because it’s too dangerous to fly. SMH.

    Not even close.
Energy notes from the edge: AI latest – the energy beast is fully unleashed; and when a Bee gets an A – an insect skill set could benefit humans in an incredible way
    From BOE REPORT
    Terry Etam
Of interest to BOE Report readers, do note that natural gas is the only solution in the next 5-10 years to handle this crunch. . . .

Many modern industrial western behemoths have pledged to facilitate their growth in a green way, which – the current rate of AI growth – is incompatible with a rapid (or any sort of) energy transition. Renewables have not been able to keep up with rising energy consumption levels before the AI wave, and these cumulative trillions in AI investment only move the goal posts farther away.

So AI developers are doing the logical thing, in the time frame they want their AI up and running (i.e., right now). They are going right to the energy source to build data centres. Some are building near natural gas fields (see: Ohio’s exploding AI demand, right near the massive Appalachia gas field). That’s all well and good, because new wells can be drilled to meet that demand.

But there’s some very sobering news for the country’s other power consumers. AI developers have zeroed in on, logically enough, the only true 24/7 source of emissions free energy: nuclear power. . . .

Just because it’s amusing to see you throw a sister organization to the IPCC (both part of the UN) under the bus again, there’s this juicy tidbit.

    https://www.iaea.org/newscenter/pre...onsistent-with-international-safety-standards

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-66610977

I guess this water is safe to drink but not safe for release into the ocean. I guess the WHO, another sister agency to the IPCC, goes under the big greyhound bus. Thump, thump. Makes for a bumpy ride!

Tritium (that is the only radioactive isotope left in the Fukushima discharge now in “significant “ quantities ) is found in nature. It’s created in the upper atmosphere naturally.

Yes. Radio active tritium emits a low energy Beta particle changing into helium with a half life of ~ 12 years. I incorrectly stated earlier that an alpha particle was emitted.

Ironically, I wish tritium’s half life was longer. LOL. My weaponized tritium needs replaced….it’s no longer very effective. :)

Hogwash. This is what you stated-
“Radioactive cesium is present in all water samples”

    And you said this-
“Radioactive materials are contained in every material in existence.”

As I mentioned, the above propaganda was 100% dishonest, as radioactive isotopes from fission are NOT found in nature. And make no mistake, this conversation was about fission Nuclear Power.

Perhaps you can explain. What was the purpose of the dishonest quotes above?

How convenient for you to dismiss the 3 hot, highly radioactive cores, which is the entire reason for the cooling water. Don’t you get it? The work hasn’t even begun!!!! Per the operator of the plant, therewill need to be cooling water discharges for the next 30 years minimum.

The shills better gang up on another topic.

I’m simply addressing the errors in your posts. Why should we listen to anything you post when it’s chock full of misinformation? How can your unsubstantiated opinions be correct if everything you post to communicate those opinions is factually incorrect?

Yes, there will be discharge of water that has been scrubbed to the point it has far less tritium in it than the WHO allows in their recommendations for safe drinking water.

Who cares if water many times more pure than WHO drinking water standards is put back in the ocean?

You are scared of better than drinking water quality water being put into the ocean? Really?

If you would refrain from posting obviously false information you may get a better reception.

I’m definitely a shill for facts and verifiable evidence. You shill for misinformation, disinformation and disingenuousness.

I’m not dismissing anything. Simply pointing out your posts are factually incorrect. Even the UN agencies you loved 36 hours ago have evidence your unsubstantiated opinions are incorrect. You loved UN agencies less than two days ago. Cited them as infallible authorities to appeal to. Now you believe you know more about tritium and wastewater than 80 global experts that studied this for the IPCC sister organization IAEA. If you don’t like water safe to drink discharged into the ocean on the other side of the Pacific Ocean then petition the United Nations. If you think you know more than the IAEA, write them a letter and straighten those UN jokers out once and for all.

    LOL

All elements have radioactive isotopes found in nature. That is fact.

Naturally occurring radioactive Cesium originates from spontaneous fission of uranium-238.

All of the bolded have many other causes. Do you think that the expulsion of the Hebrews from the modern Middle East, which created all of those things and more, came from "climate change." The Great Rift Valley of Africa would be a mighty crowded place without human movement.

The water is processed and all radioactive material removed except for tritium. Don't you get it??

Exactly! So we see the problems associated with masses of refugees. We certainly don’t need more of this in our world!

It’s important to realize that NOTHING has been accomplished at Fukushima. The real work hasn’t even started. These massive water releases are to keep the Corium cores cool. The money being spent worldwide (Japan and worldwide monitoring) is massive. More Nuclear expenses. More nuclear expenses.
    More nuclear expenses.

Also radioactive Cesium isotopes from Fukushima have been found on the coast of California.

A huge disaster from this disastrous industry. Get rid of it worldwide!

ANY PROGRESS WITH THE MELTED REACTORS?
The 130 tons of contaminated water created daily is collected, treated and then stored in tanks, which now number about 1,000 and cover much of the plant’s grounds. About 70% of the “ALPS-treated water,” named after the machines used to filter it, still contains Cesium and other radionuclides that exceed releasable limits.

Massive amounts of fatally radioactive melted nuclear fuel remain inside the reactors. Robotic probes have provided some information but the status of the melted debris is largely unknown.

    That’s a political decision.

All those materials will be removed except tritium before release. Nothing is released to the environment above regulated limits which contain very high safety margins.

BWR fuel rods contain uranium oxide fuel pellets which are enriched with U-235 from 0.7% - 5%. That’s very far from being fatal. The composition of the partially melted fuel is exactly known.

Sure, that’s why they’ve done nothing for 12 years. Like Chernobyl—-death within a couple minutes. It’s a disastrous freaking mess, like the whole industry.

    https://world-nuclear.org/informati...worldwide#nuclear-reactors-under-construction

China is currently building 30 nuclear reactors to produce electricity. It has another 40 builds planned and 158 current proposals. More than any other country. Close to their population centers. Savvy? Or crap?
