I just showed you the science!

Oh God! The masks are not for blocking the virus. They're for blocking the saliva, which carries the virus!!! Less saliva in the air... less virus in the air... less infected... less time to reopen the economy... less likely the economy will have to be closed again after it was opened.... less likely companies go into bankruptcy... less likely unemployment keeps rising AND also... less likely you, or somebody you know, dies.... What other basic elementary things did you not know?

Wow! Don't they tell you these basic things on the wingnut echo-chamber?

Have you ever been to one of those classes where they tell people at the beginning to not be afraid to ask questions because there is no such thing as a stupid question? If you ever are in one... don't believe that!

Of course! Evil liberals are out to get you! What nonsense!

If you were tested this morning at 8 a.m., that means you were free at the virus this morning at 8 a.m. The test does not tell you anything about whether or not you'll be infected at 8:05 a.m. as you cross the mist that a non-symptomatic moron who wasn't wearing a mask left when he said "Stay healthy" to somebody waiting in line after you

What hard questions? I'm sure I could ask these to any 9 year old who has been following this anywhere other than the wingnut echo-chamber, and they'll know the answers.

None of which you're going to willingly admit or answer. But here you are, claiming smug over a conversation you're clearly not ready to have.[/QUOTE]
And, yet again, the Trump loyalist makes a prediction... and is proven wrong!

I have no idea. I don't know any of them. What they do or didn't do in their life. What they believe. Or what their political affiliation is.

Do you know these things? If you do, please share the link.

I do know what the OP says. I know what this President* we have says. And I know the reasons their supporters use to justify not wearing a mask, Their reasons are political.

I don't automatically assume that everybody who doesn't wear a mask is a Trump supporter. But I do believe that the mask culture has not set in, as it has in just about every other country, because of political reasons and a complete lack of leadership.

What 'political' reasons are being stated against wearing masks?

I don't think theres any 'leadership' that is going to convince Americans to do something they don't want to. Many Americans quite simply don't 'follow the leader'. It sounds to me like you think 'leadership' equates to a mandate with legal consequences for failure to comply... which will of course only cause those in opposition to resist more aggressively.

If the general population doesn't wear masks for the continuing flu outbreaks every year, then why should we wear one for covid; a virus that causes less harm than the flu? Is it because the liberal left has politicized covid, and not the flu?

Strictly speaking they aren't reasons, but actually excuses. The real underlying reason is that Trump doesn't wear one. And they must justify their "idol's" actions. Just like they feel some need to justify him when he promotes some "miracle pill". Or if he says that ultraviolet light or disinfectants will cure you, they either deny he said what he did say, or they find some way to justify the idiocy.

    Why don't they want to?

Leadership has convinced people in all other countries. Why would it be any different in this one, if there were real leadership?

The leadership in power today politicizes everything. And this has cost many lives.

On this, Americans either follow the leader or they follow Science. The "leader" simply decided that what the conspiracy theory groups he follows are more credible to him than Science.

You need to get up to date on the new right wing talking points. Not even the Fox echo-chamber would take you seriously at this point. Now they're more like: no, we never said that Covid 19 was like the flue. Looks like you didn't get the memo.

It's as if you hid in a cave in early January and just woke up today.

OMG... because of the reason I already provided that you edited out in your response.

As I'm certain I've discussed with you before how I view such behavior, its clear you no longer wish to discuss this with me and instead seek to just vomit out your ridiculous, baseless opinions without my opposition.

    Have at it. Good day.

Looks like you couldn't come up with an answer as to why we should wear masks for covid, but not for the flu.

Actually, you politicized this in the very first reply to the Opening Post.

Furthermore, it's obvious that you didn't get your own bogus memo. Why would you send it to MSNPC, Cal Perry and Katy Tur when you're no different than they are?

Little wonder you've been futilely defending them and their double-standard, elitist, mask-shaming faceplant...

Yeah...we've seen that from the Left throughout this entire thread.

How could I "politicize" something that was already politicized?

There are two positions regarding wearing masks: the scientific position, as explained by all scientifically based organizations, including the CDC. And there is a political position to not wear masks which is predominantly promoted by Trump loyalists. The article quoted on the OP espouses the latter.

Please explain this supposed "double-standard" that you seem intent on "exposing"? Do so with quotes and references, please.

My prediction is that you won't. Please prove me wrong. But if you don't, you will have proven that your "double-standard" narrative is nothing but a right wing talking point you grabbed from the wingnut disinformation echo-chamber. So at least try.

I'm still wondering why you think we should wear masks for covid, but not for the flu. Can you help me out on that one?

    LMFAO!!!

Does anyone else see what's going on there?

I trust most of you do, but for those who don't I'll be glad to let you in on the joke.

As for you Golem, it's clear that your position on the masks is political, hence the projection of your own hyper-politicized view of the subject onto others.

And for that we can thank you for proving that masking is indeed a political issue for the Left, which comes as a revelation to no one. You've only confirmed what everyone already knows.

Clearly, this was a political issue for you going in. A better question would be how could you not politicize this issue.

There are more than two positions.

First, there is the no-position position, where people leave it up to themselves and others to decide whether or not they should wear a mask.

Another is the political position promoted primarily by Democratic loyalists that everyone must wear a mask, even when it is unnecessary to do so.

Then there's the double-standard, elitist, mask-shaming faceplant position of the Leftist hypocrites at MSNPC that you have been defending, where people shame others for not wearing a mask while not wearing masks themselves.

There are probably other positions, but that would be belaboring the point...

Did you not watch the video in the OP?

If you had, you would already know 1) what double-standard was exposed and 2) who exposed it. FYI, it wasn't me.

The double-standard was presented and explained to you and everyone else in the video in the Opening Post yet you "predict" that it wasn't?

    BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

I didn't say not to wear masks for the flu. But the flu kills immensely less people than Covid. And is much less contagious. We know the flu, and there are vaccines and treatments. We don't know anywhere near as much about Covid19 If you have no health insurance or a high deductible that your finances might not be able to meet, I would encourage you to wear one that actually filters out the flu virus.

Again.... these are questions that were answered months ago by scientists. I answered your question, so please answer this: don't they explain these things on any of the right wingnut media that you follow?

    Promoted by what?????

Wearing a mask is promoted by scientists, doctors, epidemologists.... Trump's very own CDC. As well as human beings from any party with at least one half of their brain being dedicated to intellectual activities!

It's based on science, and nothing but science. As I said: you brought politics into it. That's the definition of "politicizing"

    You have proven my point!!

No, I haven't proven your straw man deflection, but you did prove that you are willing to resort to dishonest tactics, i.e., deceptively editing other people's posts, in order to fabricate the fiction that someone has "proven" your "point" for you.

Here is my comment, IN FULL, with the section you omitted in bold face:

Again, you and your comrades at MSNPC brought politics into this because wearing a mask is a political issue for you and many others on the Left.

Show anybody who promotes wearing a mask when it's unnecessary to do so. Start by explaining when "unnecessary to do so" is. And then show somebody promoting it.

I shouldn't need to ask you this. If you make a claim you should be able to provide good arguments without anybody having to ask.

What a world we live in when people get outraged over someone’s right not to wear a mask. Jesus people, are you going to start judging people on the underwear they wear? Think about how foolish you’re acting right now.

Oh God. We are deeply deeply in trouble if there are still some in our country who, even at this point, believe that the reasons people are wearing masks is because "it looks good on them". They missed a whole 6 months of what is going on in the world.

But this is what disinformation gets you: disinformed people.

    LOL - Really?

Again, did you not watch the video in the Opening Post? How many times am I going to have to keep asking you this?

You are right about one thing, however - you shouldn't need to ask this because it was already shown to you in the Opening Post.

Now ask yourself, why would it be unnecessary for people who are outside at a lake in Wisconsin to wear a mask?

Here's a hint: There's actually more than one reason...

So your answer to the queston is "rally?"

Just what I thought. You don't have an answer.
Yes. And it has nothing to do with my question.

You: Another is the political position promoted primarily by Democratic loyalists that everyone must wear a mask, even when it is unnecessary to do so.

    Me: Show
anybody who promotes wearing a mask when it's unnecessary to do so. Start by explaining when "unnecessary to do so" is. And then show somebody promoting it.

But, of course, you don't have an answer to my question. Are you now starting to wish you hadn't repeated the part I omitted?
