Obama administration officials were fuming Monday over a torrent of Israeli criticism of Secretary of State John Kerry's latest bid to secure a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.

In unusually harsh language, officials said the criticism of Kerry could put the relationship between the U.S. and Israel in jeopardy. They also said the personal attacks on Kerry crossed a line and were particularly disappointing at a time of active conflict.

Israeli media commentators have leveled almost nonstop criticism at Kerry in recent days over his attempts to bring Qatar and Turkey — two countries viewed by Israel as strong Hamas supporters — into the cease-fire negotiations. Kerry was also being accused of abandoning some of Israel's key demands during the negotiations.

U.S. frustration with Israel seeped into the White House's readout of a phone call Sunday between President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The White House said Obama told Netanyahu that the U.S. had "serious and growing concern" about the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza. He also called to an "immediate, unconditional humanitarian cease-fire," according to the White House.

White House national security adviser Susan Rice was expected to address the situation in the Middle East later Monday. The U.S. officials who described the administration's view of the Israeli criticism insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter on the record by name.....snip~

Its not just Kerry, everyone in the White House seems to be a wuss. I don't see the US officials doing anything other than moving their lips as they cry over their spilled milk. Are we going to hurt Israel by dealing the same devastating blow we gave to Russia? "You are bad! Bad Russia! You can't come to America any more!"

Don't you remember when Eisenhower froze foreign aid to Israel?

Look the peace efforts up by every president... Pick one.. Carter, Reagan, JFK.. Nixon.. Clinton.

Israel has always been a freeloader and a headache for every US president.

Don't worry, BO will practice putting some Bass in his voice when he plays to the camera and over what he has told Israel.

Lets not forget the Op-Ed BO wrote for that Jewish Paper saying Peace could be achieved.

It doesn't matter. Too many Americans have a fetish towards Israel to care what the Israeli government says regarding US officials.

Now that's interesting. I sure do remember him Margot.

First off his armies liberated tens of thousands of Jews in concentration camps.

He also created the unprecedented position of adviser to the commanding general on Jewish affairs so as to speed the handling of the Jewish survivors and their move to Israel. he appointed Chaplain Judah Naidich who was then succeeded by a series of civilians beginning with Judge Simon H. Rifkind .

Thanks to him separate displaced persons camps were created for Jews to improve their physical, cultural, and spiritual conditions.

He also ordered the admission into these camps of tens of thousands of Jews fleeing from Poland and Eastern Europe after the war (see Berihah ).

Say now I remember in In October 1945 he received David Ben-Gurion and acceded to his request for planes to bring Hebrew teachers and agricultural instructors from Palestine to the camps, tfacilitating the later immigration of the displaced Jews to Israel.

Guess what Margot, I also remember that during his presidential term of office (1953– 61), hundreds of millions of dollars in grants-in-aid were extended to Israel.

He entered into an atomic energy agreement with Israel provided for training Israeli scientists and making heavy water available.

During his tenure military equipment sent to Israel included training aircraft, signal supplies, and spare parts and ammunition.

He stepped in and ordered not just Israel but France and Britain to back off during the Suez canal crisis to prevent a nuclear war with Russia and yes he threatening sanctions against all three nations.

It is precisely because he was respected by Israel they withdrew and believed him when he said he would support Israel if it withdrew and he did just that.

So you want to try revise history to say what exactly. Lol. Go on then.

What I remember is that duringt he reign of Eisenhower and his Scretary of State John Fister Dulles, they were openly suspcious of Israel and felt it was a major opponent of US vital allies in the area, i.e., Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Oil states.

In that respect he was no different than Truman or Roosevelt before Truman. Zionism was seen as a source of political ideology as unpopular as communism to Arab countries and something the US wanted controlled so as to not anger their oil sources.

What is also funny is that LBJ who you claimed did not get along with Israel, was a huge Israel supporter and pressured Einsehower in the Senate to be more fair.

Sure Eisenhower was pro Arab. Absolutely. He never hid it but was he anti Israel?

He offered international guarantees for noninterference with Israeli shipping in the Straits of Tehran and the Gulf of Aqaba. The United
States also endorsed the Israeli position, "interference by armed forces with ships of Israeli flag exercising free and innocent passage in the Gulf of Aqaba and the Straits of Tiran will be regarded by Israel as an attack entitling it to exercise its inherent right of self defense under
Article 5 I of the Charter and to take all measures as are necessary to ensure the free and innocent passage of its ships in the Gulf and its
    Straits."

It is precisely because Eisenhower was not anti Israeli he could guarantee the above and it enabled the Israelis on March I, 1957, because of that assurance to have no need to go to war with Nasser.

What I do remember is by 1958 Nasser turned on the US and Eisenhower came to regret having protected Nasse, i.e.,:

    http://ivarfjeld.com/2009/08/18/us-president-eisenhower-regretted-forcing-israel-to-pull-back/

Eisenhower was far from an Israel hater. He acted in the context of his era and interestingly it was LBJ during his tenure who argued strongly for Israeli interests.

The US has had its disagreements with Israel over the years. US security needs and Israeli security needs have never been and can not be identical. It is in the strategic interest of the US to maintain alliances with countries that hate Israel. Its also in Israel's strategic interest to maintain alliances with countries the US does not trust such as China.

This does not make the US anti Israel or Israel anti US.

Your attempt to revise history to suggest Eisenhower, LBJ or any other US President was anti Israel or Israel anti US is bull.

The US has always been Israel's strongest ally and remains so in spite of Obama and John Kerry. Nixon may have been an open anti-semite but he knew the strategic importance of Israel in the cold war and for a raving anti semite he had no problem having Kissinger deal with Israel.

The only US President who is blatantly anti Israel is Obama. Not even Jimmy Carter showed his biases in office. Both Bushes and Reagan were pro Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States but never abandon Israel. Clinton was a strong ally. Please do not tell me Colin Powell Bush's Sec. of State was not widely respected and admired in Israel. His military acumen was widely respected.

You can try recreate history to create a schism but the fact is Israel and the US like any close allies have tensions.

Just ask Germany. What you think South Korea and Japan have not had disagreements with the US over foreign policy?

Lol here is Obama sucking up to the anti semite Erdogan and Morsi and the Muslim brotherhood in egypt and Turkey and manhandling Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and you don't think he has raised tension with his traditional Arab allies as well?

Last time I looked Saudi Arabia and Egypot have all dismissed him and Kerry as bafoons.

But you keep up the spin that Israel undermines the US. It does not. It needs the US. It needs a strong US presence in the world. The last thing it wants is a weak US. It is Obama and Kerry not Israel, egypt, Saudi Arabia that has undermined their position in the Middle East.

His disasterous bafoonery in Syria, with Turkey and in Egypt took care of that. But hey sending a visible gay ambassador to Libya to incite the anti gay Muslims who openly killed that ambassador by shoving a broom stick up his butt, in an act of blatant hatred because of his gayness. Yes that was a fantastic example of his understanding of Middle East politics.

Yes.. Eisenhower was good to Israel.. that's why he was so disgusted with them over the 1953 Qibya massacre.

Truman was also disgusted when he wrote to Eleanor Roosevelt that the abused had become the abusers..

Israel is using all those deadly weapons to kill civilians. Where those weapons came from? We supplied Israel with those weapons. We paid them for building that iron dome, which allows them to kill with impunity.

The first candidate who says "what's an Israel?" will win by 10 points. We aren't all that dumb that we think we're going to be saving Israeli souls on Armageddon Day.

Americans can dish it but they can't take it.

    I wonder why that is?

Why can't America learn to grow a spine and realize that not everybody has to agree with them?

Man, I'm tired of this crap.

And...the only...and I mean the only.... reason Hamas doesn't kill more Israeli people is because they can't hit what they are aiming at.

They also can't honor a cease fire that they broker on their own terms.

Do you think Hamas will quit attacking Israel no matter what Israel does? They could confine their borders to one square mile and Hamas would attack.

PS. Obama has the backbone of a chocolate eclair.

Well maybe Kerry can't do it... I guess this is what happens when these important government positions are filled not with experts but with previous Democrat Presidential candidates who lost.

That being said, I wouldn't want that job as Secretary of State. Too tough. I can't even imagine how hard it is to work behind the scenes with all the different factions who hate each other.

Of course Kerry is just there to carry out Obama's policy which is apparently pro-Hamas. The administration is stuck now that they've said Israel has a right to defend itself against missile attack. They can't do anything to progress the pro-Palestinian policy without looking soft or weak on terrorism. Meanwhile hundreds die in Gaza as Hamas keeps up their attacks.

Israel has every right to put down Kerry and the obama administration.

Consider this. In the US, some terrorists hijack 4 planes and fly 3 of them into buildings and the US responds by going to war all over the world, invading Afghanistan and Iraq, destabilizing Pakistan, transforming Libya and Egypt from stable allies to nations torn by civil war, and inserting special forces all over North & Central Africa and Asia.

But when Israel decides its had enough after years of rockets being fired into its homeland, car bombs, suicide bombs, and kidnappings and murdering of children, the obama admin says Israel is being mean and needs to stop hurting the terrorists.

Kerry is a clown. obama is an incompetent fool. They both hate Israel and side with the Islamists. Israel should do what it needs to do and tell Kerry to (*)(*)(*)(*) off.

Hamas has used its own children as islamic suicide bombers. Their charter states their goal: the destruction of all jews. They have admitted to wanting an islamic caliphate that controls the whole world. If Israel disappears as you so wish, you will have a huge problem on your hands dealing with Hamas. They are just like ISIS and Al-Qaeda.

    John Kerry is a fool.
