You are wrong. I drive for an owner operator that is leased to UPS Freight and they pay him less than the post office and do not provide benefits.

    USPS over pays everyone

A couple of facts, for the people who think blacks are the problem here:

(The above is from the letter carrier's union but they cite their information.)

What this means is that the labour is being used more efficiently. The issue is revenue. You charge less for a stamp than most countries, expect to lose money.

Uh when did I say that UPS workers are paid more than the USPS.

Are you union getting over inflated wages?

Based on what criteria? What do postal employees make in other countries?

Yes - almost all of our employees are unionized and get more per hour than non-union employees in similar positions.

I am showing it is the over inflated union wages that is the problem.

You try to blame UPS or fed ex but that is not the problem

The problem is when you overpay every one you do not have enough revenue. The union wages and benefits are the problem

That does not matter. What do other general labor or machine operators make in the private sector in the US

Our employees aren't overpaid. They're paid well, have decent benefits and we make a profit. We not only make a profit but have one of the best records of consistent quarterly growth of any US company.

WTF? McDonald's is doing well. USPS is sucking ass.

    Why would you compare them?

McDonald's has merit criteria. The USPS has race based quotas.

    Compare apples to apples -

    USPS carrier salary 37K - 63K
    Canada Post carrier salary 26K - 55K
    Royal Mail carrier $25K

And so on. You can probably find wages higher and lower searching by country but again - do you want half a million Americans to suddenly have a lower standard of living? Wouldn't it just be easier to add 1.7 cents per letter and not drive down America's standard of living?

One thing USPS doesn't get (but it's catching on) is the time-tested rule of commerce - the market bears the cost of business. The cost of business for USPS includes good wages and benefits and enormous investment in technology that has kept labour costs proportionately low. All that remains is that they charge their customers fair value for the service.

I bet that the USPS is more efficient in cost/letter than Canada Post, despite the number of blacks working for USPS.

Not over paid compared to who? LOL You said union members make more than non-union for same work so that means union members are over paid

No, it could mean that non-union members in the same industry are underpaid.

    That is apple to oranges

Postal service employees get about $80 thousand a year.

    http://www1.salary.com/Machine-Operator-I-Salary.html

The median expected salary for a typical Machine Operator I in the United States is $30,041.

They're not even close. USPS carriers median wages are 20.92 - 21.66 per hour. That's $43,513 to $45,052 per year.

It's more if you add in the nice benefits that postal workers get.

Very few companies offer better benefits.

That does not include benefits. That is still 10 thousand above a machine operator

Wages is 80% of the cost of running the USPS

Did the Pony Express also go bust because of affirmative action or was it because of that little thing called...oh what is it?

According to the OP Pony Express went belly-up when Affirmative Action forced them to get black horses.
