2) if the virus infects everyone in the US, than .5 percent represents 1 500 000 dead. Obviouslt that seems impossible. Just sayin that .5 if taken at face value can represent a huge number depending on the infectiousness of Covid 19. Now please show me a link to the .5 percent.

The problem is that 140,000 deaths a year that have been happening for centuries is not a big issue, but 140,000 NEW deaths per year is an absolute catastrophe that demands whatever action possible to correct, by any means necessary.

The only way he gets to that 0.5 figure is if you already account for the "many who have the virus have not been tested."

It also only works if you assume that the death numbers are not being undercounted. Which is unlikely.

Certain cities/states certainly are skewing our numbers. The top five counties, per the Johns Hopkins tracker, are all in New York, and account for almost 200,000 of the total cases nationwide. Louisiana is another hotbed, although it doesn't hold a candle to NY.

Meanwhile, there are three counties in Florida with a total of only five cases between all three counties.

It is inarguable that this virus has effected some areas worse than others. Which is also the wisdom behind the President's plan for reopening on a state-by-state and county-by-county basis.

There's been four antibody tests done now, in areas with large populations. Each time the test revealed that far more are infected than we realized. This means that the majority of us will be just fine. It also means that corona spreads like wildfire and is highly lethal for certain groups.

So what do we do now?

In my mind, reason suggests that at risk populations should stay quarantined. The rest of us should go about getting things back on track, incrementally, with caution.
