The virus is significantly more lethal than the flu and more contagious. And the lethality of the virus increases with age.

At age 50+ (and as of a week ago), your age groups makes up somewhere between 5-12% of the Covid-deaths. And roughly 3-4x more people your age died from covid than the flu during the same time period.

 

These are the people who run out and empty store shelves when a snow storm gets a name on weather channel.

Laughing at things that make you uncomfortable is a sign of weakness.

 

As I said, those are infectious disease experts each providing their own estimate of the true infection rate. If you are incapable of reading or respecting their opinion, the least you can do is to not intentionally edit my posts and remove the link material that permits others to read and learn from their estimates.

 

The numbers as they exist NOW...show a death rate of between 2% and 5%.

And yes immortal...a 5% death rate is a reason to shut down the country.Herd immunity requires 70% to be infected. What's 70% of 350 million? What's 5% of that?

But fine. Yes the death rate WILL probably come down ...AS WE DO MORE TESTING

SO LETS DO MORE TESTING.

UNTIL THEN WE DON'T KNOW MUCH OF ANYTHING

 

Whether we test or not doesn’t change what the actual death rate of the virus is. It just allows us to confirm it. Furthermore unless you ACTUALLY test the dead, you cant just put people who died from underlying causes as coronavirus victims just because they had symptoms.

But this is a moot point. There has been more than enough testing done in MANY places to show the virus’ death rate is approximately .5%.

You do NOT quarantine people in this fashion unless there is ample evidence that the death rate is much higher than even 5%. You quarantine the sick and the highly vulnerable and you let everyone else go about their lives.

Unless you have an ulterior motive, which in this case appears to be political.

Even then IF the death rate is higher, what does hiding from it really solve? If the death toll was far greater that just means a vaccine will be far less effective for those with compromised/underling health issues! Only those with strong immune systems will survive and thats been the reality of flu and virus's since we were chuck'n spears at rodents. And all that time, the best medical science had done is to increase the odds is to INTRODUCE our immune systems to the strain so it produces antibodies to combat it And even then!
