    Here's a list of books...

    The Origin Of Species
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
    The Handmaid’s Tale
    A Tale of Two Cities
    50 Shades of Grey
    Principia
    The Bible
    War and Peace
    A Theory of Justice
    The Cat in the Hat
    The Wealth of Nations
    The Hunger Games

Imagine if two groups of college students rank these books. One group uses voting while the other uses spending. To be clear, the spenders would not be buying the books. They would simply spend as much money as they wanted to reveal their love for each book. All the money they spent would be used to crowdfund this experiment.

How differently would voting and spending rank the books? Would the voting ranking or the spending ranking be closer to your own?

    Here's my preferred ranking...

    The Wealth of Nations
    The Origin Of Species
    The Bible
    Principia
    A Theory of Justice
    War and Peace
    A Tale of Two Cities
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
    The Cat in the Hat
    The Hunger Games
    The Handmaid’s Tale
    50 Shades of Grey

I'm guessing that my ranking will be a lot closer to the spending ranking. With voting the chances are really good that The Cat in the Hat will beat The Wealth of Nations by a mile. With spending though... the Cat in the Hat still might beat The Wealth of Nations... but the margin will be smaller. Important, but unpopular things, do better with spending than with voting.

What's your preferred ranking of these books? Do you guess that the voting ranking or the spending ranking will be closer to your preferred ranking?
