Worth noting, anyway, just for it's opening "scream?" It is by someone, known for the intensity of her voice, being scream-like:
Remember, what the door mouse said,
"Feed your head. Feed your head"

Here though, she is in little bit more of a laid back, but still passion-filled, Bossa Nova mood. Good song, though. (My only regret, is her spontaneous comment, at the end, about the wrong language).

Janis Joplin in her best scream voice.

Here is one more, primo example of musical screaming. Like "Silver Springs," most of it doesn't come until the end. Also, my favorite part, when it rises to its height of passion, occurs just as the song begins fading in volume. But the whole thing, I find to be a very worthwhile ride.

I'm not sure if I should admit this, but I always thought that Daltrey was the singer of this song, by bassist, John Entwhistle. I had actually thought that he had done a good job of changing his normal style, to better suit this song.

Now that I listen closely, especially to the voice, I hear the difference, but there seems to be a passing similarity, to me-- more so than, for example, than with Pete Townshend's, more distinctive voice.

    Can I ever be forgiven?

Of the live videos of the Who, I've so far seen, they have been disappointing; but they jam pretty well, in this performance, from 2000.

I might as well give Pete a turn, as well.

while most of what I have encountered is just audio-the LIVE AT LEEDS record is one of the greatest live albums-up there with the ABB at the Fillmore, Live Dead and a few more

I was supposed to see the Who on their "farewell tour" at Syracuse. Ice storm closed the highway, told friend in Syracuse to sell ticket. Couple days later there was a closed circuit of the Toronto show I managed to watch. Great show though of course nothing like being at the Carrier Dome. No Keith Moon but this was pretty good

I haven't listened to your links, yet, but just had to comment that I had seen their farewell tour, at Yankee Stadium (provided that was the same "farewell"). The parts I still clearly remember, were great! You would have especially loved it, as it was The Clash who opened up the show. I was not a fan of theirs, and they did the longest warmup set, I have ever seen. It seemed like an entire show's worth. I actually fell asleep during it, and missed the beginning of the Who's show (I'd had a bit too much to drink).

Before seeing Turtledude's posts, I'd just been making a quick return to the forum, bearing gifts:

A nice duet-- Cyndi Lauper, with Sarah McLachlan

As long as we were citing good screams/yells, Lauper should at least be on the list. I could be wrong about how others think of her, but I don't think she gets the appreciation, as a singer, she deserves.

yeah one of my friends-a huge Clash fan from NYC was at what I believe was Shea Stadium a couple months before the one in December (I was in the middle of my 2L law school exams in December) He knew Strummer personally and was bummed that Nicky was not drumming in that show

From an advertising perspective, I think Lauper is a wise choice, as a spokesperson, because of the sincerity which she exudes.

Changing gears, to your weather misfortune, causing you to miss the Who-- and that must have been quite a storm, to close the hwy up in that area, where snow & ice are pretty much a given, that one hardly notices-- I myself had tickets for the Simon & Garfunkel "reunion" concert, in Central Park, but missed it because my car's engine overheated. It was a bummer, for sure; though the footage I have since seen, of that show, I haven't found at all impressive. Though of course, as you say, seeing it on television is different, than the experience of being there.

My college GF-who I am still close to-her husband-a classmate of mine was in my wedding, lives on Central Park West and I was invited to watch the show from their outdoor porch overlooking the stage that IIRC was when i was a first year law student-the fall of 1981. I cannot recall why I didn't attend but I remember I had something I couldn't miss

    I got chills!

    And they
    killed, at the end.

Jimmy Page, who'd written the song, seemed to enjoy it, immensely. Robert Plant's expression, during the song, though, made me wonder if he'd been thinking that the Wilson woman was showing him up; but at the end, he was one of the first on his feet, applauding, with a big smile on his face.

    Nice post.

From this post on Fauci, and your prior one, making fun of the way white people (supposedly) clap with no rhythm,
you seem to be under the mis-impression that this is a thread for political, or racial trash-talking, not a music thread. It is hard to imagine what you feel you gain, by making fun of my reaction to a notably good cover of "Stairway To Heaven." You only seem to be trying to amuse yourself, with a disregard for the intentions of either this thread, or this forum. Too bad you have nothing better to do with your time. Might I suggest you give a class, on clapping? Or, more advantageous yet, you could take a class, on how to make friends.

    It's only Rock 'n Roll. :D

Ya gotta love the lyrics to that song, especially if you've ever had the pleasure of calling an angry wife in the middle of the night to bail your ass out of jail.
