Since this is often used as an argument, particularly in abortion debates (this thread is not about abortion itself, so leave that to the side), but in other areas as well, I thought maybe we should explore this. What exactly is a person? What objective criteria can we use to determine whether a given being is a person or not? Is personhood limited to humans, or is it possible for non-humans to be persons as well?
