Who does he cite for that "fact"?

I was citing him. The fact is that is what he wrote in the book
I cited. If you want to check out who he gets his his information
from, he has 54 pages of notes in the back of his book. You
    should read it.

It's okay. I've already got several books on fascism, written by historians and political scientists, which are factual. I prefer that to fiction.

Great. That should make it easy for you to tie that into the
conservative or republicans of America then.

I'm sure I'll only have to wait as long as I've been waiting
on you to answer the questions from post #9.

Tie it in to what? I didn't say Republicans or conservaties are fascist. I said that fascism falls on the right of the political spectrum. Neo-Nazis: They're fascist.

So fascism is right-wing, Republicans and conservatives are right-wing,
    but they are totally unrelated?

Forgive me if I am having trouble following.

Fascism falls to the far right on the political spectrum. The extreme if you will. This does not mean that all Republicans, conservatives or right-wingers are fascists. In much the same way, even though communists are left wing, not all Democrats, liberals and left-wingers are communists.

This will blow your mind: all nickels are coins, but not all coins are nickels.

There's no relation between them at all. Fascism is Authoritarian and there's no
    authoritarianism with conservatism.

I don't understand why liberals don't understand their own Constitution and the
nature of limited, divided power of republican (small "r") governance.

We'll have to just disagree on this point especially since you neither feel obligated
to present any evidence of your viewpoint nor answer the questions of post #9.

There is some relation, in that they are part of the same wing of the spectrum. There are many conservatives who believe in an authoritarian government, both past and present (and probably future). It's just that one does not always lead to another.

Firstly, the Constitution really offers no insight into what conservatism is or isn't. Secondly, I'm sure you understand that fascist governments like Mussolini's Italy, or Hitler's Germany were not subject to our Constitution, thus does not disqualify them from being right-wing. Thirdly, we are not fascist (or for that matter communist) precisely because our Constitution sets the country up as a democratic republic. Lastly, what makes you think I'm a liberal?

I have presented enough evidence to put this to rest. The very definition of fascism denotes that it is right-wing. I see no opposition to the very definition of the word.

I think you are a liberal because you are so poorly informed.

Yeah, well perhaps the definition as written by a leftist.

After all, the definition of marriage in every dictionary
20 years ago was a union of one man and one woman.

Now because of leftists, they destroyed the definition of marriage.

I don't think that's a road you want to go down.

Yes, that must be it. The definitions disagree with your understanding? The definitions must be wrong.

Question though: why wouldn't the lefties also change the definition of communism so that it is also an idea of the right?

Well, you can't answer one question from post #9 after I answered your stupid questions
that you yourself admitted were cut and paste from a website. My questions will determine
for me what your ideology is. You are afraid to answer them for obvious reasons.

I am so done with you if you can't answer the questions then just give it up, you are not
    worth one more minute.

    Obvious reasons? What are those?

That's fine. I'm going to continue discussing the topic at hand, which is fascism, rather than my personal ideology. After all, my personal political beliefs have no bearing on the conversation, and are not worth the distraction. To make that clear, here are several more definitions, and excerpts from Encyclopedias on the subject. We do not need to rely on my word, or my ideology, but the explanation, discussion, reasoning, and definitions from experts.

    Enjoy:

    From the British Dictionary:
    fascism
    /ˈfæʃɪzəm/
    noun (sometimes capital)
    1. any ideology or movement inspired by Italian Fascism, such as German National Socialism; any right-wing nationalist ideology or movement with an authoritarian and hierarchical structure that is fundamentally opposed to democracy and liberalism
    2. any ideology, movement, programme, tendency, etc, that may be characterized as right-wing, chauvinist, authoritarian, etc
    3. prejudice in relation to the subject specified: body fascism

    From Oxford Dictionaries:
    fascism

    fas|cism
    Pronunciation: /ˈfaʃɪz(ə)m/
    Definition of fascism in English:
    noun

    [MASS NOUN]
1 An authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.

1.1 (In general use) extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practices:
this is yet another example of health fascism in action.

    From Wikipedia:

Fascism /ˈfæʃɪzəm/ is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism that came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe. Influenced by national syndicalism, fascism originated in Italy during World War I, in opposition to liberalism, Marxism, and anarchism. Fascism is usually placed on the far-right within the traditional left–right spectrum.

Here's the Encyclopedia Brittanica. It's long, but does have sections specifically on Opposition to Political and Cultural Liberalism, Conservative Economic Programs, and Fascism and nonfascist conservatisms: Collaboration and crossover

Finally, Kevin Passmore, Professor of History at Cardiff, who literally wrote the book on Fascism, defines it thusly:

Fascism is a set of ideologies and practices that seeks to place the nation, defined in exclusive biological, cultural, and/or historical terms, above all other sources of loyalty, and to create a mobilized national community. Fascist nationalism is reactionary in that it entails implacable hostility to socialism and feminism, for they are seen as prioritizing class or gender rather than nation. This is why fascism is a movement of the extreme right. Fascism is also a movement of the radical right because the defeat of socialism and feminism and the creation of the mobilized nation are held to depend upon the advent to power of a new elite acting in the name of the people, headed by a charismatic leader, and embodied in a mass, militarized party. Fascists are pushed towards conservatism by common hatred of socialism and feminism, but are prepared to override conservative interests - family, property, religion, the universities, the civil service - where the interests of the nation are considered to require it. Fascist radicalism also derives from a desire to assuage discontent by accepting specific demands of the labour and women's movements, so long as these demands accord with the national priority. Fascists seek to ensure the harmonization of workers' and women's interests with those of the nation by mobilizing them within special sections of the party and/or within a corporate system. Access to these organizations and to the benefits they confer upon members depends on the individual's national, political, and/or racial characteristics. All aspects of fascist policy are suffused with ultranationalism.

You can, of course, ignore and deny all of this - I fully expect that you will - but I obviously advise against it. You would demonstrate yourself as not simply ignorant, but willfully ignorant. You would fully display that your personal bias is an impediment to any truth, facts or learning. You show that the basis of your ideology foremost lies in stubborn ideological purity, instead of in nuance, integrity, or intelligence.

I'm not saying this to smear or demean the right, as realistically, the left has communism, and even anarchism on it's side of the political spectrum. I am simply stating the facts. I leave it to you.to decide what you wish to do with them.

Well if there is anyone else that is interested in actually discussing what fascism is,
here is a demonstration of what it looks like. No, this is not Hitler's Germany or
Mussolini's Italy, it's a bunch of liberal left-wing fascists on our California college
campus trying to shut down free speech.

the ideology that they blindly follow.

Things you should know: just because Shapiro uses the word "fascist" does not mean he's using it correctly. He's not, I have a bunch of definitions above that explain what fascism is, and why he uses the word wrong. I don't expect him to use it right, once again, he's a political commentator and lawyer, not a political scientist, economist or historian. There's no need for him to use the word correctly.

I would not produce a Fox News personality using the word incorrectly as evidence that fascism is to the left of the political spectrum.

Hint: a bunch of student protestors are not the government, and fascism is not the only system of government which restricts speech. Large scale Communism, for instance.

Another hint: YouTube videos aren't likely to help you out here. You need some real resources for your argument.

I think that's a really bad idea. So far your ignorance on this matter has been restricted to just two threads, but now you're going to make it a part of your identity here. If that's going to be your avatar, you might as well link to this thread in your signature to demonstrate your lack of argument.

The irony is: you are not as right-wing as you seem to think. You clearly share some ideology with the left.

If you want a response from me, you need to go to post #9 and answer the questions.

You really have nothing but your opinion which lacks any credibility because you
won't answer the questions. I'm beginning to believe that you may be one of the
leftist fascists that I am talking about because your answers to the questions will
    betray who you truly are.

I don't need a response, I only need to keep pressing my on-topic point, refer back to the many reliable sources that demonstrate my on-topic point, and highlight the fact that you are desperately trying to drag your own thread off-topic in order to avoid defending your position. I come out pretty well here.

Nothing but my opinion, the definition from four dictionaries, the entry from the Encyclopedia Britannica, the entry from Wikipedia, and the definition from a historical expert on fascism from his book entitled "Fascism". I'm not saying that there isn't more to back up my case with, but I doubt you have access to academic journals. What I've presented so far is pretty reliable, very reasonable, from relatively good sources, and makes a pretty solid case. You have presented a single book from a Glenn Beck wannabe, the rant of a political operative on FoxNews of all places, and your imagination.

I don't need you to respond, but I'm confident those looking in will see which case is better, and will likely see how immature you're being about this.

Really, how hard is it to say "Oh, I didn't know that about fascism and the political spectrum. Good to know."

Oh! And three books from Amazon.com that directly reference right-wing fascism in the title, or on the cover. That's not a particularly great reference, but seeing as your only citation is a book by discount-Glenn Beck from Amazon, it sort of makes all the other references redundant.

Maybe one day. But before you continue you should learn what fascism, capitalism, communism, anarchism, nationalism, and socialism are (to start), and why I listed them in that order. You are way in over your head if you don't understand the basic terminology, and your bud Jonah Goldberg, does not understand the basic terminology. I know this from reading the single passage you've presented from that book.

You are entitled to your own opinion, you are not entitled to your own facts.

Yes. I read the Kevin Passmore, and almost all of the books in that series. The ones from Amazon, I did not. They were not intended to be actual evidence.

What I have also done is studied political science at the university level. I have read textbooks and articles written by actual political scientists, historians and economists.

I have also read the definitions and the encyclopedia entries I have presented. Have you even done that yet? (I know you haven't)

You have one book, by someone with no credentials or expertise, who wishes they were on the same level as Glenn Beck, who is one of many "authors" writes drivel because they know people like you will buy it.

I have a friend who went to the Davis while I was in the Air Force.

After his first semester, he came back and told me this, "Communism
is not so bad, they have free healthcare".

Some people have empty heads when they go into college and they
come out brainwashed stupid little fascist leftists. Too many.

So, not surprised to find another leftist socialist who doesn't know
history, doesn't know anything about the Constitution, the Founders,
Communism, fascism, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWI,
WWII or how to point out Deleware on a map. Oh, but they think they
    know it all.
