I've been seeing stuff such as this for years in the alternative press.

Using NATO to forcibly transform the world. Col. Doug Macgregor

NATO is considered to be a tool used to subjugate other countries into the financial system of the West. This would explain a lot about the war in Ukraine. That would be a good reason for Russia's not wanting to be surrounded by countries that are members of NATO.

All of the anti-establishment pundits are saying this.

Chomsky: “NATO is a global intervention force run by the United States.”

That seemed to be what was happening in Yugoslavia.

Parenti: NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999 wrapped up 'rational destruction' of Yugoslavia

    (excerpt)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
Yugoslavia was built on an idea, namely that the Southern Slavs would not remain weak and divided peoples, squabbling among themselves and easy prey to outside imperial interests. Together they could form a substantial territory capable of its own economic development. Indeed, after World War II, socialist Yugoslavia became a viable nation and an economic success. Between 1960 and 1980 it had one of the most vigorous growth rates: a decent standard of living, free medical care and education, a guaranteed right to a job, one-month vacation with pay, a literacy rate of over 90 percent, and a life expectancy of 72 years. Yugoslavia also offered its multi-ethnic citizenry affordable public transportation, housing, and utilities, with a not-for-profit economy that was mostly publicly owned. This was not the kind of country global capitalism would normally tolerate. Still, socialistic Yugoslavia was allowed to exist for 45 years because it was seen as a nonaligned buffer to the Warsaw Pact nations.

The dismemberment and mutilation of Yugoslavia was part of a concerted policy initiated by the United States and the other Western powers in 1989. Yugoslavia was the one country in Eastern Europe that would not voluntarily overthrow what remained of its socialist system and install a free-market economic order. In fact, Yugoslavs were proud of their postwar economic development and of their independence from both the Warsaw Pact and NATO. The U.S. goal has been to transform the Yugoslav nation into a Third-World region, a cluster of weak right-wing principalities with the following characteristics:

The Trepca mining complex: How Kosovo’s spoils were distributed
    https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2002/06/trep-j28.html
    (excerpt)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
UNMIK* orchestrated a press campaign to prepare public opinion for a military takeover of Trepca. They declared that Milosevic used Trepca for money laundering and financing paramilitary Serb units. In the build up to NATO’s seizure of Trepca, propaganda about the environmental impact of smoke from the Zvecan lead smelter was widespread. UNMIK began blood tests on the local population, pointing out that lead content far exceeded recognised world health standards.

After NATO had dropped tens of thousands of depleted uranium bombs, blowing up chemical and petrochemical plants, and affecting the whole region for decades to come, Kouchner declared, “The people of Mitrovica are at risk because of this smelter.... As a doctor, I can tell you that lead poisoning can have tragic consequences for families. It can mean irreversible damage to children and complications for pregnant women.” He insisted that the complex had to be closed down, describing it as “the only remaining Stalinist KOMBINAT [antiquated nationalised industry] in the world, a dinosaur with twenty-three activities all linked to each other.”
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Americans have good intentions. They just have upside-down information.

There are no "depleted uranium (DU) bombs". Bombs are area weapons which produce large explosions for their effect. Although they can be precision guided in a JDAMS configuration, DU is not a part of the design. DU is used in armor piercing munitions like a tank SABOT round. DU is as hard as diamond. A SABOT round contains a "dart" made of DU that pierces enemy armor. It does not explode. It pierces the enemy armor and transfers tremendous kinetic energy to the target, making objects in the crew compartment become dangerous missiles... tools... fire extinguishers and such. The dart will then pass out through the back side of the target.

Bombs can be used on armored targets, but they don't use DU. M442 rounds, for example, are about the size of a hand grenade. A "shaped charge" will focus an explosion downwards to pierce armor and "splay" to the sides to produce damage to soft targets and personnel. Aerial bombs can contain hundreds of these. The best anti-armor bombs utilize "sensor fused munitions" which disperse at altitude over the target. Sensors sense heat and other signatures and launch at the targets. (Good stuff because a "top attack" hits the lightest armor on the target.)

I liked your post in general... very informative. But when you talk about Americans having "upside down information" and then present your own misinformation about "DU bombs"... it doesn't help your credibility. Blown up chemical plants can cause contamination. But it has nothing to do with DU.

I think it was just bad wording in the article. I didn't even notice that detail in the quote. Here's some stuff about depleted uranium weapons from another thread.

My understanding of depleted uranium weapons is that DU is very hard and can penetrate steel armour so it's used in anti-tank shells and in the phalanx gun*. I've never heard of DU bombs.

I'm an Army guy so I don't know if DU is used the Navy's PHALANX (CIWS... "Close In Weapon System) but it would make sense... The Army uses it in the Bradley 25mm Bushmaster gun... tank main gun SABOT rounds .. et al
Its also used in the Armor of an M1 tank... its hardness can be used for protection too.

That simply isn't true. It's used because it is HARD! HARD AS DIAMOMD! It does NOT "turn into dust". If it did, it would be worthless for its designated purpose. DU is totally harmless... unless its coming at you as a dart at a mile a second. There's a very complete Air Force report on this I read a few years ago that is online. But c'mon... if it "turned to dust" it would have no value whatsoever defeating armor.

NATO is the most powerful military alliance the world has ever known.

    It should use that power.

NATO protects countries against attacks and take-overs by countries like Russia, unfortunately for Ukraine they were not a part of NATO

My understanding is in the past there was a big bad wolf named 'Stalin'.

And NATO was set up as a defensive alliance, which would defend its members.

And Joseph Stalin was not a Russian and he is no longer alive.

It's no wonder people have such weird opinions.

The theory is that NATO began to be a tool used to subjugate other countries into the financial system of the West after the fall of the Soviet Union. You're describing what it was about before the fall. I'm not in a position to be sure of what the truth is but the theory seems to fit the pattern*.

    Well, lets see...
-Iraq had its own independent central bank until NATO invaded it and installed a new regime
-Libya was trying to build an African central bank until NATO invaded it and installed a new regime
-Syria has its own independent central bank, NATO tried to invade it to install a new regime, and we still have hundreds of unwelcome troops there
-Iran has its own independent central bank, and warmongering NATO members (mostly the US) keep popping up with excuses for military action there
-North Korea doesn't really have its own independent central bank, its just entirely dependent upon China, but its still entirely uncooperative with the global central banking system, and if it weren't for its thousands of artillery holding South Korea hostage, NATO (US) would have invaded it and installed a new regime years ago
-Russia was partly removed (or removed itself, depending on the perspective) from the global central banking establishment roundabouts 2010, almost precisely the time they went from 'friendly Democracy recovering from communism' to 'they aint playing ball with global central banking!' and NATO (US) started funneling regime change money into Ukraine

There does seem to be a pattern among nations either attacked by, or under perpetual threat of being attacked by, NATO.

I lived through the stage in between the defensive and the offensive stage when people were worried about another European war.

One reason given for forming the European Common Market was to tie the countries together with trade so they wouldn't go to war,

but I also heard the explanation that having all the European country armed forces in one organization would guarantee they wouldn't fight,

that it was NATO that guaranteed peace in Europe.

Interesting. Do you have some kind of mainstream credible link for more information? I'm genuinely interested, not trolling.
