The California Drought is Over. Definitively.

After over a month of torrential rain and massive mountain snow, the drought is over in California.

Yet with all the liquid bounty, some in the media and elsewhere don't want to give up on it, as noted in the NY Times headline below.

And the U.S Drought Monitor has severe drought over much of the state.

I believe the evidence for the end of California drought is quite overwhelming. But consider the facts found below and decide for yourself. . . .

Final Brief Submitted In CHECC v. EPA
    February 11, 2023/ Francis Menton

    • The briefing is now complete in Concerned Household Electricity Consumers Council v. EPA. That is the case, currently pending in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, where a small and brave band of electricity consumers, CHECC, challenges the “science” behind EPA’s 2009 finding that CO2 and other “greenhouse gases” constitute a danger to human health and welfare. I am one of the attorneys for CHECC.

    • In the case, we ask the court to compel EPA to go back and re-assess the “science” of greenhouse gas “endangerment.” The briefing process gave EPA the chance to put its best foot forward as to the scientific basis underlying the finding of endangerment.

    • What is truly remarkable is the extent to which EPA, not to mention the entire government-backed scientific establishment, completely lack any real scientific basis for the claim of great “danger.”

Insane as CO2 is a VITAL gas for the planet's health:

Carbon Dioxide Fertilization Greening Earth, Study Finds

From a quarter to half of Earth’s vegetated lands has shown significant greening over the last 35 years largely due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Climate Change on April 25.

An international team of 32 authors from 24 institutions in eight countries led the effort, which involved using satellite data from NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer instruments to help determine the leaf area index, or amount of leaf cover, over the planet’s vegetated regions. The greening represents an increase in leaves on plants and trees equivalent in area to two times the continental United States.

Greening of the Earth Mitigates Surface Warming

A new study reports that increased vegetation growth during the recent decades, known as the “Greening Earth”, has a strong cooling effect on the land due to increased efficiency of heat and water vapor transfer to the atmosphere.

A new study published in the journal Science Advances titled “Biophysical impacts of Earth greening largely controlled by aerodynamic resistance” reports that the entire land surface would have been much warmer without the cooling effect of increased green cover during the recent decades. The study used high-quality satellite data from NASA’s MODIS sensors and NCAR’s state-of-the-art numerical earth system model.

By the way still no evidence of a Climate Emergency developing

The warmist/alarmists here and in another forum are behaving less and less civilly and lying more and more to defend their climate crisis delusion ignoring base data that destroys their endgame because there is no evidence of a developing climate emergency anywhere heck that can't even address the CONTENT of post one article because it utterly destroys their AGW fantasy in full.

It seems that 100% of warmist/alarmists are unaware that the AGW conjecture comes in TWO parts the first part is generally agreed by most people that it is real and reasonably measurable, but the second part consist of something that has NEVER happened in the last Billion + years the Positive Feedback Loop NEVER show up outside their modeling fantasies after 35 years of looking for it in the lower Tropospheric atmosphere as shown here in this LINK from my old defunct climate forum on Wayback Machine which I posted January 2011.

The idea of a runaway warming trend is absurd over a trace gas with a minor IR absorption range that has a minimal effect on the heat budget.

Random Probability Analysis Of Global Drought Data Affirm No Pattern Can Be Linked To Human Activity
By Kenneth Richard on 20. February 2023

“No evidence is found for any systematic trend in precipitation deficits attributable to anthropogenic climate change.” – O’Connell et al., 2022
In a new study (O’Connell et al., 2022), scientists use a stochastic or random probability distribution analysis to assess whether a signal in global precipitation deficits (droughts) could be linked to anthropogenic climate change (ACC) over the 1900-2013 period.

The exhaustive analysis revealed no or pattern that could be statistically validated to support claims that global precipitation deficits are linked to ACC. Instead, no clear trend has emerged that falls outside the range natural variability.

In fact, the authors found that there was globally more intensive precipitation deficits observed from 1901-1938 (Period 1), when CO2 levels were lingering in the 300-310 ppm range, than since the late 1970s when CO2 rose to over 400 ppm. The most recent decades are observed to be associated with the lowest precipitation deficit intensification.

This is actually the opposite trend direction if ACC and rising CO2 were indeed a driving cause of global drought.

The authors caution climate modelers to avoid leaping to conclusions about a link between ACC and global precipitation without utilizing randomized probability statistical analyses. Failure to do so can bias results in favor of desired outcomes.

There is already a politicized tendency to “start from the premise that ACC is an explanatory factor [for global drought], and set out to prove it” rather than follow the scientific method (i.e., falsify the null hypothesis that natural climate processes are causal using real-world observational data).

It is always nice to see someone actually bother to dig for the evidence from official sources to realize that he was being deceived and bails out of the lie into being free.

    The beat goes on.
Serious Climate Misinformation In Seattle Time Headline Article

Whether you are a climate activist, a governmental official, or a citizen hoping to be well-informed on climate issues, getting accurate and reliable climate information is important.

Unfortunately, the Seattle Times continues to provide unfactual information, with screaming headlines and stories that can easily be shown to be incorrect.

This disappointing behavior by Seattle's only newspaper was obvious on Tuesday (see below).

A blaring, big-type headline heralded that "DATA CONFIRMS THAT WARMING IS WORSENING FLOODS, DROUGHT".

And in the subtitle, they double down: "WHAT HAD BEEN AN EXPECTED CONNECTION IS BACKED UP BY A NEW STUDY"

As I will demonstrate below, these claims are unfounded. The study does not confirm anything. And the "expected connection" subheadline is very revealing of the editorial approach of the Seattle Times.

    The article

The article, like so many stories in our local newspaper, was a reprint of a Washington Post article (by Kasha Patel): A WARMER WORLD CAUSES EXTREME DROUGHT AND RAIN. INDISPUTABLE NEW RESEARCH PROVES IT.

When a reporter describes research as "indisputable" you know they have little understanding of the scientific process. Science is ALL about disputing and questioning each other's facts and interpretations. . . .

They have to know they are LYING since the data shows the very opposite and they are preying on the generally science illiterate people which is a sign of a poor paper and low ethics.

Which is why I have a forum of my own to help people get their baseline information just as Dr. Mass is trying a similar approach in his blog to address the baloney these climate crisis cults promote.

The DIY way to demystify “greenhouse gas” claims
    By Fred F. Mueller

Feel helpless when trying to assess the veracity of “climate doom is looming” claims? Don’t give up trying to understand the relevant basics because you don’t need to be a scientist to do so.

There is a rather simple way to get an idea about what this is all about. Even without a scientific background, most people have at least a good common sense. And that’s all it takes to get a grasp of how energy flows back and forth between earth’s surface and the skies.

Today in Part 5, we look at the linkage between the allegedly CO2-driven rise of air and sea surface temperatures on the one side and the disconnect between these increases and their strangely weak to insignificant impact on rainfall and hurricane intensity”.

    Preceding chapters see Part 1 1), Part 2 2), Part 3 3), Part 4 4). . . . . .
