    Thank you for the source.

But these historians and accounts were all many decades after Jesus was crucified. You would think that many historians who lived during the time of Jesus would have mentioned his crucifixtion especially because the bible itself says that after he arose from the dead that everyone spread the word like he was famous.

    Are you Christian?

    What do you mean?

Do you have anything to prove my former statement wrong?

You are very ignorant about conservatism. Read the source material, not the snark in the liberal press

I don't see any reason to keep up statues of people who didn't do anything great or advance human progress. So in my opinion Confederate statues go down and founding fathers ones stay up. Al Sharpton is just one guy who loves to take radical positions on race and most people know he is a fraud.

The city council of each affected state should schedule a local referendum. If a majority wants them removed and is willing to pay the price of removing it, and then either storing it or smelting it down, go for it.

I am white but can kind of see the point of not paying for maintenance of a statue of a confederate hero. he answer to that is to let a local historical society do it and with private funds.

Charles Barkley as usual, makes the most sense: "I really have other things to worry about than some statue."

I used to be a religious right-winger. My posts from several years ago prove this.

Anyway, the Christ Myth theory has been gaining traction among scholars since the early 2000s.

    1. Gays and minorities have been treated violently at the hands of social conservatives. This is fact.

    2. My comment on Fox News is not irrelevant. The point is that those who claim to hate political correctness are the first to demand it when something offends them.

Why didn't the historians of Jesus' time write about him?

It has been deceitfully overblown. Maybe you can prove me wrong?

How do conservatives demand political correctness?

Robert E. Lee was a war hero and his tactics are studied today in military colleges.

Because he never existed, most likely. Philo of Alexandria was a Jewish mystic and writer who actually lived in Israel during Jesus's alleged ministry. If the biblical Jesus preacher figure is to be believed, then why doesn't Philo mention him even once in all his writings?

    Bonus question:

Why did Paul plagairize some of Philo's concepts when describing Jesus?

    :p

The same could said of the Japanese in WW2. Doesn't mean we need a statue of the Japanese emperor in Pearl Harbor.

Because Jesus is very likely a fraud who didn't exist. :)

Cool. I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing.

It doesn't make sense for us to celebrate the Japanese, but it does make sense for the Japanese to celebrate their WW2 heros. Many of them gave their lives for their beliefs. I see nothing wrong with it.

Well, as an American, I don't want Robert E. Lee venerated in my country. He was a general of an enemy nation vanquished by the United States.
I also don't want German Americans venerating Hitler on public property.

There were always interracial relationships, even in the south even though these relationships were illegal. You can look at the percentage of mixed race Americans in 1930 census. I say its overblown because most lynchings that happened by whites on blacks were done by lone wolves or the first KKK. There were about 3000 lynchings. DO you know how big the white population was back then? That is like a drop in the bucket and most lynchings were not done always just for a black persons race but because they committed crimes like rape and of course the klan lynched even whites for crimes such as rape.

Personally, I hate that argument and I think its weak.

I don't see how being pissed about the war on Christmas means conservatives are demanding political correctness.

    That is just one guy.

Oh ok. Better example. But I don't know if I would consider that political correctness. Maybe. I just don't know.
