And when I create a poll for red wines - you will tell my that everybody is drinking white wines - or beer only .....
I actually like a nice Liebfraumilch. Fruity medium sweet. Champagne is nice too. I'm more of a port man really though.
I like wine, but I'm not a connoisseur. I like most Whites, but just don't don't have the expertise to discuss it much unless don't get past the binary good/bad. But I am a coffee snob.
Can't do wine. I am a freak supertaster. Anything with a bitter or tartness to it makes my tongue curl. Most alcohol is that way for me. On the plus side, if I want to drink, the bottom shelf stuff tastes just the same as the top shelf stuff so I am a cheap drunk. I just chug a ton at once and I'm done. I can't "sip" it.
I like red and I like it dry. And it can be cheap. Not a fan of white however my daughter brought home a Sake and I rather liked that a bit too much.
During my misspent youth I encountered a light sparkling white wine that was palatable. No, I cannot recall the name of it so many decades later. I used to enjoy red wines like pinotage cabernet savignon and merlots/shiraz. After a bout or two of gout I switched to rose's based upon those reds which had the flavor but not the heavy elements that caused the gout. Time has taken it's toll and now I cannot drink those rose's either so I stick to aged neat Tequila on the Rocks instead. That doesn't mean I do not appreciate what wine has to offer others, just that I no longer participate. That just means more for the rest of you.
White "Night Train" (locally known as Train Wreck), high octane AND no silly cork to deal with! On sort of a related note I just bottled up an experimental small batch of homemade mead, liked it enough to have another batch currently fermenting.
I normally don't like wine but, when in Germany, at a wine fest, I tried a big mug....yes, mug.....of a very good, sweet white wine, it was a Riesling. At this wine fest, the servers brought around, wire baskets that held 6 large mugs of wine, I had not seen wine served in large mugs before, mugs at all, for that matter.
I wish I could remember the name of the town, we traveled there by bus, a bunch of military men and, their wives , yeah, they probably were half liter mugs.
I remember the name of the city where we went for the wine fest, I might not spell it right but, here goes.......Baddirkheim.
