We all know it's all about trying to make Joe Biden a one term POTUS......shameless display of disingenuousness by the party of "rules for thee but not for me". They could not pull it off if the media called them out on it but the drama sells so...here we are.

I think they are going to let it happen this time for awhile. Too much ego on both sides. A bond down grade will lock in higher interest and our 401K's will take hit.

Biden orchestrated the last debt downgrade in 2011, now he's back for another bite at the apple.

Debt-Ceiling Doubts Finally Weigh On Stocks; Bonds & Gold Bid

    '30Y TSY topped 4.00%, 1M Bills topped 6.00%'

'"20-30 year old Marxists" are running the show behind the scenes at The White House, questioning Biden's cognitive wellness and warning that the odds of an actual default are higher than the market believes, because the 'behind the scenes' staffers believe media will back them in blaming Republicans.'

The Media will blame the GOP, but, the lying fake news media has a level of credibility that is lower than whale crap.

PRIORITIES: Democrats to Biden: Get ‘off the bench’ in the debt limit fight.

'“They need to use the power of the presidency. I don’t buy this argument that [public silence] helps the negotiation,” said Congressional Black Caucus Chair Steven Horsford (D-Nev.). “I need the American people to know that Democrats are here fighting, working, prepared to reach an agreement to avoid a default and only the White House, the president, can explain that in this moment.”'

'Biden is set to be even further out of sight this weekend when he leaves Friday for Camp David, and then travels to Delaware. Told Biden was planning to leave Washington for the weekend, one House Democrat expressed disbelief.'

'“Please tell me that’s not true,” said the lawmaker, who was granted anonymity for fear of angering the White House. “You’re going to see a caucus that’s so pissed if he’s stupid enough to do that.”'

'The GOP has already passed a debt limit increase. Biden has another weekend off.'

Biden's incapable of more than coasting.

I get the sense from your post that you are feeling a little helpless.

THE DAILY CHART: WHY MCCARTHY IS WINNING THE DEBT CEILING SHOWDOWN
    [IMG]
'As of this writing Friday morning, the media reports that there is no debt ceiling deal yet, but that the two sides—meaning Biden and Kevin McCarthy—are close. Strange how Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer seems to be totally sidelined. Does the Senate not have any leverage at all? Apparently not.'

The New Republic: The Democrats Have Already Lost the Debt Ceiling Fight

'Six months ago, Democrats instead of raising the debt limit during the lame duck, when they still possessed a narrow advantage in both the House and the Senate, they made the strategic decision to do nothing. When the need to raise the debt limit approached in 2023, the thinking went, the Republicans now in control of the House would once again show their extremism, voters would recoil, and—voila—another Democrat masterstroke. . . But as the debt limit hurtles closer—the United States could default in less than two weeks—it looks more and more like a catastrophic miscalculation.'

    GEE, YA THINK?

McCarthy and the Scrappy GOP House have their fingers, not improperly inserted into the debt ceiling, a bit of odd imagery that you are using to be sure, but on the very pulse of the Inflation Clobbered American People.

The public is solidly behind the Republican position:

Why should Dems fight the American People on this?
