Why I hope the Republicans win majorities in the House and Senate.

    While we need checks and balances, the Filibuster has become a tool of obstruction wielded by political partisans on both sides. I hope they do shitcan it.

    As expected, McConnell said "the filibuster will stand".

    I wonder if Chuck Schumer still thinks it's a good idea to eliminate the filibuster....and expand the SCOTUS to 13 judges. :lol:

    I don't. The filibuster has served its useful and intended purpose of moderating legislation. Consensus is a good thing.

    The issue I have is that in the absence of consensus the filibuster becomes a tool of partisan obstruction. The evidence I see is that consensus is a dirty word to many in both camps. I agree that consensus is a good thing, I just don’t see much appetite for it in America.
