Your every post says you prefer panic and hysteria over a level headed rational response to a new virus.

Handling with gloves. I have lots of those. I may also start wiping down cans and jars and milk cartons and such. All produce gets washed.

There are a lot of crazy conspiracy theories out there about this virus, which is very entertaining, but I've yet to see one that hints at it being chemical warfare designed to kill off old sick people. Is it still paranoia if they really are out to get you? :hiding:

And your post says you believe whatever Trump tells you, which IMHO is unwise.

My preference is not for panic or hysteria, it's for accurate information so I'll know not to panic. How can anyone not prefer facts?

I’ve never considered the decontamination of deliveries because if I decide to quarantine everything is already here. Something interesting to think about though for the future. Was thinking fumigation would be the most effective/easiest but alas the one I’m familiar with (phosphene) doesn’t work on viruses. The ones that do look like a PITA to work with. What will you use to wipe down jars etc. with?

Until I see something credible to lead me to believe otherwise I’m just assuming it’s a virus doing what viruses do and it’s not a bio weapon. I might have a different perspective if I wasn’t relatively young and very healthy.

It may determine the outcome, but only the scope of the Biden Victory.

Biden would've won anyway, but the Virus may help Biden run up the score.

If it will be as catastrophic as the H1N1 back in 2009 or far more, then it will surely make an impact, Trump already made assurances and remarks and his words is surely on the line.

Coronaviruses typically survive from hours to days on hard surfaces. The transmission rate is higher when touching hard surfaces, like door knobs, compared to porous surfaces, because the virus cannot get embedded in pores, which reduces its chance to get onto the hosts's skin. I don't think virus survival rates are known yet for Covid-19, but these are data from other coronaviruses, like SARS. Your best bet for sterilization would be UV-light and heat. I doubt that most households have UV-light sources, but an hour in the oven should take care of things :).

As much as Dems would love to make it a campaign issue, since they can't win on policy, it won't determine the out come of the election.

Yeh I agree on heat but that’s going to play hell with a carton of milk. Personally I wouldn’t trust UV on irregular shaped items like a jar of jelly. It would be very difficult to get light at the correct angle up under lips of jar lids etc. :)

Yes, since the Dems will kick GOP butt on the issues, and Trump will be the fall guy for the fall of the market and oil prices.

If Biden wins, the General Election, it will only be due to colluding with the foreign virus in order to impact the election. Obviously, we know Dems can't win on policy

Accurate information is the virus is no worse than a bad cold to the vast majority of people and the mortality rate is under 1%.

Josephwalker is pushing Trump propagit that is not true concerning CV 19.

The outbreak and the stock market could break Trump's campaign for good this week. The GOP may have to replace him on the ticket with Nikki Haley.

Those of us who recall Bush jr's ABYSMAL FAILURE to act following Katrina appreciated that LEADERSHIP during a crisis is essential. Bush jr was having some birthday cake with McCain while people died in NOLA.

What the criminal IMPOTUS is doing is no different because he LACKS any semblance of leadership qualities. He even lacks a grasp of the issue itself. He probably believes that all he has to do is use his Sharpie on a map of America and he can prevent the virus from spreading.

Given the seriousness of the outbreaks in Italy, Iran and China and now we see it go from 1 to 55 in Egypt in less than a week this is not your typical flu season.

    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/health/number-of-coronavirus-cases-in-egypt-rises-to-55/1759016#

The Chinese acted when the death toll rose to 1000 and they are only just managing to keep it stabilized by imposing draconian measures on 60 million people.

WITHOUT any serious coordination and leadership from the Whitehouse the economy is going to slow down. The DOW is down almost 8% right now,

This is NOT looking good now and in November people are going to recall the lack of leadership when it was needed.

Wearing campaign gear (whatever that means), does not one thing to spread the virus. Having a "hunch" that the number of actual cases far exceeds the number of reported cases, thus changing the math considerably does not one thing to spread the virus. If anything, it serves to lessen a panic and put things in a more proper perspective.

I am quite certain that they are doing everything they can to produce tests as quickly as possible. A president does not possess a magic wand that can make everything go away, which is undoubtedly the standard to which the left is going to pretend like he is suppposed to be held. There is no doubt that this is the CDC's show, and there is no doubt that they are being empowered to do everything in their power to address this crisis. To pretend like any of this is Trump's fault is nothing short of preposterous. The media and the left are going to try and sell that it is his fault, but overwhelmingly likely, their attempt will fail.

What we are have currently is the left side of the spectrum secretly hoping for a crashed economy so that they can have a specter of hope entering this years election. It is openly transparent, and it is bizarre. It is a doubling down of their behavior the last 4 years where they literally present nothing positive and instead put all their eggs into the basket of negatives. In my estimation throwing around copious amounts of poo will not win you the White House. A positive message needs to exist and it is sorely lacking.

He has reordered the tax code and drastically cut regulations, both moves being demonized and demagogued by the left. The result that directly followed has been a booming economy and record consumer confidence. He has every reason in the world to take credit for those results. If the economy had tanked following those actions, he would most certainly be held responsible for the blame.

Does he deserve the blame for a worldwide virus started in China?.....Not so much.

It's not the virus- it's the panic that is going with it, with the help of media that is addicted to sensationalizing stories. Panicky people act stupidly, they don't think beyond the immediate moment except to fear disaster. In any emergency, the cool heads that don't over-react, and especially that don't promote fear in the public- will be our best protection. It's the public who pays the cost when leadership and media whip up fear.

Trump would have had the best and most accurate, updated information on the virus. He would have the advice of the finest specialists in medicine. But his job- as well as having government do what it can to contain the disease, is to contain the panic that will disrupt everything else. He's not getting any help from the MSM, or the left, thats for sure. They have other priorities.... which tells you where their priorities are. So you would have had Trump promote more fear, because you want to make him look bad?

I think the DNC doesn't like facts because it undermines their position. That's why they ignore the HHS, CDC etc and push panic and fear. It's largely due to the fact they are so desperate.

I don't see how the virus will have any impact. If our ability to fight diseases rests on who our president is, then we are screwed.

What is wrong with people, no one, not Trump, not Sanders, not Warren or Biden know a damn thing about epidemiology.

The people at CDC, NIH, HHS, WHO and all the private research and medial institutions operate on their own. They are not sitting on their hands this morning waiting breathlessly for the Preezy to tell them how to perform their jobs.

Not soon enough? Trump announced a medical emergency back in January.

Trump stopped foreigners from getting off from flights that left from China and ordered quarantine of incoming travelers very early. So early in fact, that some in the media and elsewhere were calling him a racist and xenophobe.

Even then, Trump does not decide on his own when, where or how to control the virus unless he listens to, and takes advice from, the expert career professionals at the CDC, NIH and HHS.

So stop with this politicization of the virus.
