It is now just a matter of time before Putin goes .
He is totally out of touch with the middle classes of Moscow and St Petersburg .
And make no mistake , it is the middle classes who have risen against this FSB Gangster Overlord .
Once the internet permeates the working poor , the game is up with the Botox Pretender .
Who will push him out ? Probably the secret higher cabal within the FSB , allied with the Military faction who are incensed at the way it is proposed to update a broken and old fashioned white elephant -- Russia's defensive forces .
He will probably cite his wife's ill health ( haven't they been effectively divorced for years ? ) , and knowing FSB mentality , they will poison her , if required .
    Who will take over?
Watch out for Sergei Ivanov . Now here's a really dangerous guy .
    .

    На бобах одна гадалка
    Погадала бы... Да жалко
    Померла.
    - Но только пуще
    На квасной гадают гуще.
    - На бобах оно виднее!
    - Гуща лучше!
    - Боб вернее!

-"There was a fortune-teller on beans
She'd tell your fortune ... but a pity
    She has died."
    - "But just the better
    fortune-telling at a brewer's spent grain."
    - "The beans knows best!"
    - "A brewer's spent grain is better!"
    - "The bean is more exact!"

Aleksandr Pushkin. Sorry for bad translation.

Blimey . I shall not be using Botox if that is the end result .

I think the photo was taken at last week's tea party when he , Kudrin and Ivanov sat down to thrash out the new policy . Dmitry was taking notes .

Putin is a champion of Russia as much as some people complain.

He lowered taxes, brought back industry and returned some pride back to the beleaguered nation. The rural parts love him, anyway.

Exactly , the poor think they like him because they have no Internet and all they can watch is state controlled TV .They have little idea what is really happening .
As I have repeatedly said elsewhere , control of the Internet is the key to the
    present situation .
There is a decline of support in the middle classes and the educated young people as they travel abroad and separately obtain increasing access to the Internet .
Putin is a dead man walking . The internet will decide how much longer he can roam free .

Speaking of biases and media control, why do you ignore it in the west?

I don’t think he’ll go though a great many Russians can’t stomach him. He’s too eager to rule on.
Unfortunately, in many countries, those who cling to power know hundreds of dirty tricks to keep it. Electoral fraud is the main one in post-Soviet countries.

What exactly had you in mind ?
And before you use the standard Russian whine , occasional mistakes in the UK are investigated publicly and the whole system is as transparent as possible .
A system that makes occasional poor judgements cannot be compared to one which is completely controlled and where the State runs TV and many of the most used Search Engines and social sites
An honest answer would be appreciated .

    Well said Orwie .
You are right about his desperation to carry on . His personal wealth exceeds $100 billlion and he is easily the richest man in Europe . Gazprom is his personal cash cow .
Not bad for a KGB officer in Dresden whom we are asked to believe was fairly nondescript . And he has all of his cronies to consider , as there must be honour among thieves , particularly Mafia thieves .
