So I started working remote last week. It's not mandatory, but the company has strong urged it. Now it's official.

I ate a huge bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch this morning. The sugar made it hard to stay alert and focused. I didn't eat anything for lunch, and now I'm wasting my time on this site or following the markets. I hit up the Keurig at work usually twice a day, but I don't actually own one. I'm not being productive at all.

I want to go to the office.

It's quite hard to concentrate at home, good luck.

Wife has been working from home for 2 years. She loves it.

I was already scheduled to make the transition 2 months ago on 4/6. That appears to be expedited.

We are preparing for working from home. Remoting into our software slooooows it way down.

Like, enough for a trip to the loo and Kuerig, before it changes screens. Like back in the day of dial up....

I work from home usually 3 days a week. If you care about your work and have work to do it's not a problem.

Nonsense busy work is hard to focus on but real work gets done if you have any kind of work ethic.

There is a certain isolation to it that can be hard to deal with

I've been working from home for years and love it! The thing is, you have to learn to avoid the distractions at home. If you can't do that, you're not going to get anything done.

I'm in outside sales in a terrority without a company office and work out of a home office. Been doing it for 10 years previous to that always had a branch office which I also managed.

I actually couldn't imagine going back. Now it's usually just one or two days in the office and on the road the rest of the week. That will and already has change for the next few months as company travel is being highly limited by our customers, face to face only when absolutely necessary like I have to go in and diagnose something going on. I have actually already been on a two week limited outside contact due to getting a bronchial infection just as this started and the CV. I check several of the checkboxes for higher risk. I already miss the travel that I have enjoyed for 40 years.

We had a conference call today and throughout the country the same restricted visits which will effect the hotels and restaurants, one guy in Ohio noted the restaurant closings would HIGHLY limit how they could travel.

Good time to buy stock in Go To Meeting and Zoom and other conferencing companies.

It is a challenge. I find I work in shorter but more productive "spurts". 45 minutes of productive work, then 15 of get away from it, go play the guitar, answer some post here, go out and water the plants Don't miss the company politics and soap opera's and wasted time just BS'ing.

It's true that you are really cut out of company gossip, but I find I don't miss it.

Nor do I miss the "pretending to work" cause someone is looking nonsense.

I work. I take a break. The only thing I have to answer for is getting the work done

My staff can virtually all work from home. We gave them all the option with the virus. about 40% insist on coming in, because they claim they work better from the office. To each their own... as long as they get their work done, I am cool with it.

I work from home about half the time doing management stuff. I have similar problem to OP. I get stuff done, just not til late at night after procrastinating all day. I plan to build a distraction-free cubicle out in my shop. The problem is, I have to clean out the shop first, and then, once I have a clean shop to work in, I'll be even less likely to get my manageorial/paperwork work done...

    Conundrums.

My job is considered an essential service at my company, so I don't have a choice and have to go to the office. In short, I'm the dumb **** who has to go in so others may stay at home...

I work from home and love it. Only distractions are the kids and they know when I'm on a call to **** or they go to bed early so really nothing actually distracts me because they know better. ;)

You need an actual office. You can't do it on the dining room table or couch.

I have a TV in my office but even that I rarely have on when working

Yes thank you, some people thrive on drama and creating conflict between others... the more space between them and me the better

Occasionally I have to go into the office to physically sign something or for a meeting that can't be done via conference...and it's in and out.

I have tried to do work at my desk on those occasions but the constant interruptions from co-workers is ridiculous

Good advice. Today has been much more productive. I'm still looking forward to returning to work as usual.

I started working from home in 2002. I love it. I imagine it would be a challenge for extroverts, but to me, my home office is far preferable to a cubicle farm, where at any given moment I was subject to a nearby conversation about baby puke, engagement rings or the latest hockey scores. I am far more productive when left in peace.
