The Godhead I know in a nutshell.
I was a skeptic till the age of 39.
I then had an apotheosis and later branded myself an esoteric ecumenist and Gnostic Christian. Gnostic Christian because I exemplify this quote from William Blake.

“Both read the Bible day and night, But thou read'st black where I read white.”

This refers to how Gnostics tend to reverse, for moral reasons, what Christians see in the Bible. We tend to recognize the evil ways of O T God where literal Christians will see God’s killing as good. Christians are sheep where Gnostic Christians are goats.
This is perhaps why we see the use of a Jesus scapegoat as immoral, while theists like to make Jesus their beast of burden. An immoral position.

During my apotheosis, something that only lasted 5 or 6 seconds, the only things of note to happen was that my paradigm of reality was confirmed and I was chastised to think more demographically. What I found was what I call a cosmic consciousness. Not a new term but one that is a close but not exact fit.

I recognize that I have no proof. That is always the way with apotheosis.
This is also why I prefer to stick to issues of morality because no one has yet been able to prove that God is real and I have no more proof than they for the cosmic consciousness.

The cosmic consciousness is not a miracle working God. He does not interfere with us save when one of us finds it. Not a common thing from what I can see. It is a part of nature and our next evolutionary step.

I tend to have more in common with atheists who ignore what they see as my delusion because our morals are basically identical. Theist tend not to like me much as I have no respect for literalists and fundamentals and think that most Christians have tribal mentalities and poor morals.

I am rather between a rock and a hard place but this I cannot help.

I am happy to be questioned on what I believe but whether or not God exists is basically irrelevant to this world for all that he does not do, and I prefer to thrash out moral issues that can actually find an end point. The search for God is never ending when you are of the Gnostic persuasion. My apotheosis basically says that I am to discard whatever God I found, God as a set of rules that is, not idol worship it but instead, raise my bar and seek further.

My apotheosis also showed me that God has no need for love, adoration or obedience. He has no needs. Man has dominion here on earth and is to be and is the supreme being.

The closest example I have found on how you can force your apotheosis is shown in this link and is based on what Jesus taught and what the churches will never teach. There is not enough money in it for them.

Why consider god at all? To me having an idea of god without calling it god and allowing it to remain off in the outer rim of your consciousness is the best vision of "god" I can think of. The reason for this is because regardless of your view the moment you begin to define that which no one can define you create all the same problems and conflicts associated with theism and religion in general. Someone will always disagree and in that space every opinion is equally valid and equally false. There is no resolution to be found there and therefore no way to progress. God should change as much as we do and the only way he can move freely in that sense is to let the idea of him go completely leading me to my initial question, why consider god at all?

Have ye forgotten the ye are Gods. That is what Jesus said.

To not consider God is to not consider yourself.

Seems you did not quite grasp what I am saying. Try this link. Same guy but a slightly different take. The more truth we know, the better we can teach uneducated believers.

If you do not think you have a spiritual side, which would be better than being a misguided Christian, this knowledge of what Jesus actually taught you might pass on to those who do not know that the Jesus in the bible is mostly a Roman invention. In the meantime remember that there is no one above you unless you put him there.

Before I go through any of this information can you prove any of this to me in no uncertain terms? If not it appears you are the one who did not grasp what I was saying.

Say what? I do a LOT of self-reflection and consideration without any belief in a god, unless I'm specifically examining religion as a phenomenon. Even when I do that, though, I'm not seriously entertaining the existence of any of the supernatural characters mentioned in biblical texts. Why would I? It's like entertaining the notion that other pantheons truly exist or have existed in an objective sense.

Need I say that to do so would be very silly? The study of religion is just one of countless ways to study humanity. No actual religious belief required...

No. I cannot prove anything. All I can do is give my anecdotal story and if someone does have an itch to scratch, I offer a scratch post.

You have to do your own scratching. Knock and ye shall find. God is not looking for you. You have to look for ---- in your case ---- him.

    Think Gnostic.

Christians used to kill us and burn our gospels but good things are hard to kill.

    No argument.

Belief like Christians have in fantasy, miracles and magic that are all real is insane.

FMPOV, there is nothing more powerful than man.

That is the good news Jesus tried to teach before the church silenced him.

That is why he ignored the letter of the law and used his own brain instead.

As I said to V 1, if you have no spiritual itch to scratch and do not recognize your spiritual side then do not seek but do try to talk Christians out of their hurtful ways.

I don't even accept Jesus as a real historical figure, given his obvious astrological connections and similarities to known mythological figures such as Herakles and Mithra.

As for who or what is most powerful... I'm purely agnostic about that, as I must be if I am to remain honest, but mankind has very little power indeed over nature.

How about...we just be nice to each other and not worry about God?

And actually, I'm hoping for an apoapsis....as a space tourist. :)

Which makes my first response to you valid in every way and unfortunately there is nowhere for this conversation to go if you don’t understand how it relates to your position. Also it’s Vicariously I not 1.

You and I will agree on a lot of things because of your distaste for Christianity or theism perhaps in general but you have cut your legs off at the knees with your own definition of God and because of this you are grounded in the same subjectivity you disagree with. You have given your enemies a tool to use against you and your only rebuttal against them will be just as valid as theirs are against you.

Put another way you are needlessly complicating the process by which we progress. The position you have given your concept of God is of no use in regards to your goal of understanding self. Existentialism cannot function with any concept of God.

What's this strange Pidgin you're using? Is technology interfering with rather than aiding communication for you?

Don't you recognise what you're doing here? It amounts to "believing is seeing" in action. It doesn't make the thing you think you've found - the thing you actively wanted to find from the outset - real. If you're biased towards believing in something, you will tend to fail to be skeptical.

People's minds all too often overrule objectivity.

He seems to be under the impression that because he's removed a great deal of the nonesense associated with religion that some how he's not being just as subjective in his perspective as they are.

You are locked in a linguistic cell.

This guy has it about right but then unfortunately falls into idol worship.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SkZg1ZflpJs

Note that all God should be defined as is our highest ideals.

A shame that you think I am hurting myself by seeking the highest ideal and accepting man as the judge of all ideals.

Have no worries about me. I can take the heat and stick to the truth instead of taking the easy way out.

So what does God have to do with your ideals? The point you are missing is we are the same right up to the point where you pull the word God out. He serves no use for you anymore than he does for me. Why disable yourself in this way?

    Indeed.

I was just wondering if you were on some mobile device that makes capitalising letters more of a hassle than pressing shift on a regular keyboard. I guess that answers that question :D

    Mobile devices suck :D

True. Non-believing Christians tend to not have to develop the double standards of morality that the more right wing have to create to stomach the genocidal son murderer they adore.

That is why I mostly use the word Godhead. Just to differentiate for those stuck in language like you are.

I was well served in finding him or it, your choice, and enabled myself more. You assume a lot without facts.

Without facts there is only one thing to assume. I asked if you could prove any of your claims in no uncertain terms and you said no so I'm curious as to which facts you are talking about. The word God has no power over my cognitive processes freeing me from such perspective let alone language. The fact that you use him in any way to build the foundation of your perspective suggests it is you who is stuck not only in language but perspective.

You appear to believe you have escaped the grasp of the theistic God concept but the reality is you have done the theistic thing and simply used it to create your own version of it.
