Gunpowder is not classified as an explosive but rather a deflagrant. It is completely legal to make

Much easier to buy. There are dozens of types of "gunpowder" available for purchase in most gun stores and online for folks that "reload" by hand. Its better to buy these than make your own... you know... like its better to use store bought medicine, than home grown. Both might work, but I don't think I'd ever inject homemade antibiotics.

Note you didn't reply to @Bowerbird 's question if he were a muslim terrorist - or in your case, any immigrant. What a telling omission.

As you may recall, I shoot cap and ball reproduction muzzleloading revolvers.

Simple black powder is only three elements but of course it's somewhat involving to make. I have about a pound of black powder that I'm jealously sitting on.
Mainly I use the modern equivalents like pyrodex.

Although I did find a place that specializes in muzzle loading and they will sell true black powder online but I guess due to shipping restrictions you have to have a minimum order of 25 lb even though you can only store 50 lb inside of a residence.

At about $32 per pound that's 32 x 25 so I don't think I'll be ordering that anytime soon. I guess due to the hazmat shipping fees they don't think shipping anything less than 25 lb is worth their time.

I'd be set for several lifetimes with that much powder. I probably get near 500 shots per pound with a 25 grain charge. I'd have to start making fireworks just to do something with it.

Percussion caps also seem to be completely unavailable right now. Glad I am sitting on about 430 of those. And I just ordered 5 lb of pure soft lead which is highly recommended for muzzleloading.

You can find plenty of scrap lead to cast bullets out of but almost all of the scrap lead you're going to find is hardened to some degree with a small amount of tin and or antimony.

That's a damn shame that even with my felony record as old as it may be.... I have more gun rights here in the United States than someone without a record in most other countries.

This is true. And come July 1st I could even conceal carry my cap and ball but I don't think I ever will because it has a 1 ft long octagon barrel and it's roughly 17 in overall length. Weighing in at close to 4 lb so it is a massive revolver that you would not carry short of a backpack.

Though I did take it to a friend's private property and shoot it yesterday for the first time in about a year. At 30 ft I was able to hit a 12 oz empty beer can two out of four shots and very close to the other two.

Though I do think that there are several States that restrict people in my situation from even having muzzleloaders made on or before 1918 or reproductions thereof...... But fortunately Florida is not one of them.

There's not even any paperwork associated with the purchase of one. Just have to be 18 or maybe now it's 21?

Fortunately I legally bought my first beer many many years ago.

Drinking age in NY in my high school days was 18 and voting age was 21. I can't help but feel we had it right then and bass-ackwards today.

Why don’t you stop making ridiculous comments about what this young man did. You can own a gun in the UK for various reasons including work associated, sport, leisure, collecting and research. The law is quite stringent and you have to have a licence.

Your views on guns and the UK are erroneous which is not surprising. People seen with guns are not immediately suspected of being a possible terrorist or murderer.

Here are the exact charges, they are neither ordinary or acceptable

Possession of firearms or ammunition without firearm certificate.
Possessing/Collecting a record of information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism [6 counts]
Making or Possessing an explosive substance [2 counts]
Dissemination of a terrorist publication [2 counts]

The judge does not appear to be from a ‘Middle Eastern or Muslim background’. He is a British citizen, he has a British surname and there is nothing to indicate your statement is true anywhere that I can see. How about a link. If he was middle-Eastern and/or Muslim, how would mean he is biased because of his statements? The young man made racist comments on the internet directed at muslims. He also made racist comments about black people.

Your comments and your attitude begs the question: why are you trying to excuse racism, terrorism, and hate?

yes, it's hard to figure a legitimate purpose for a bomb though

without getting into 10th amendment issues, I'd say it is far worse to ban stuff that has lots of legitimate uses

Bombs are used to kill people and break things. I think it was the Dallas police that decided it was a good idea to run a diposal robot carrying a package of C-4 explosive into a dude hiding out in a parking structure after he had shot multiple cops.

You probably wouldn't light the fuse, yell for the wife and kids to get under their beds, and lob your stick of dynamite at a robber or a home intruder. But it isn't right to restrict anyone in terms of defense of life, though the persons defending themselves are responsible for any incidental casualties. There is greater risk is defending oneself with a bomb, all the more reason not to ban any firearms.

If you grew up in the country back in the day.... Explosive devices were entertaining.

God forbid a kid get caught with black powder inside of any sort of container and igniting it today !!!
