That people can use at home, which will track private numbers and block them. People could also report those numbers to the police. It would save time on the police or phone companies tracking down those numbers. It will only be used for those people who have suffered prank calls, at least five a day for a period of days, or if a call is threatening. I've had some dickhead calling me about 20 times today. I answer because it could be work, or a lady telling me I got the job I just applied for. Everytime I answer, its him saying stupid things. He has a private number though, which means that while I have to turn my phone down or take it off the hook, he gets away with it. Totally unfair that I should have to suffer while he is free making calls to random people. Anyway, anything is possible, so I reckon if I learn enough about computers, I can design a program that will trace these numbers and block them, as well as automatically report them, all from the privacy of ones own home. Then create a website where these numbers can be listed so other people suffering prank calls can also block them. Something like this probably already exists, if it does, direct me to it! If not, well, I might get rich off this if I can pull it off.
Have you got anything like this in Australia? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YY8OnLAOfS4]Trap Call[/ame]
If this caller is harassing you, Telstra will trace their phone calls, and after a few reported calls they'll send them a "Cease & Desist" letter. If they fail to comply, Telstra will refer the case to the authorities, plus Telstra will refuse service to them - now and forevermore.
Whilst yer at it... ... how `bout developin' a program... ... that'll mirror back hackers' commands... ... to their own computer.
I've always wanted to create a virus to send to the people who send you spam email. Doing the same to hackers would be illegal, but very tempting.
Yeah I know. I told him that the number could be traced, he said it couldn't be, but he stopped calling for about an hour, so I assume he had to make sure I was correct.
So you're talking to him? Maybe he has a crush on you....... Good luck w/your invention... when do you plan on doing this?
He doesn't know me. Its just one of those annoying calls, and its made scary by the fact I live alone, and if he know my number, he knows where I live. No idea when I'll make it. I know jack about computers so I need to learn more about them. I think the invention would be something that could benefit a lot of people, especially those who live alone and the elderly and infirm.
Here, you call the phone company and they are obliged to deal with it. They can do it in any number of ways, for example give you a new number, or they can trace the number and act on it. They can also give you a number to dial after the caller rings. This blocks his number. Bottom line is, call them. They will advise you.
