Obama's SS agents remove forks from attendees at Latino event

Is it a common practice to not allow attendees to have knives (for the purpose of eating) at an event where the president speaks? Is it common to later confiscate forks? It's an honest question.

Anyhow, attendees at the 'National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials' event were asked to do just that. Be sure to check out the video, the lady speaking seems genuinely flummoxed.

Ha ha! I guess the word got out that there were some "white hispanics" that were going to be in attendance that probably took offense to Obama's "if I had a son, he would look like Trayvon" statement. See what happens when you keep playing the race card? Sooner or later, you're gonna get dealt a bad hand.

 

What's odd, is that Romney spoke at the same event a day or so beforehand. While the crowd was receptive and respectful of Romney, he didn't receive the fanfare that Obama apparently received, despite the odd request to eat up because the forks had to be accounted for. I'm confused.

 

A little paranoia about Fast and Furious creeping in?

 

I watched Obama's speech yesterday, and he got the same polite yet slightly lazy applause that Romney got. Of course, CNN and MSNBC called them standing ovations (yet no one was standing in front of the cameras, strangely enough).

I just wonder which one will hurt them the most, Romney's indifferent proposed policies on helping to make things easier on illegal immigrants, or Obama-sanctioned Fast & Furious that actually killed innocent Latinos? I don't believe the MSM polls regarding Latino support of these two guys. Taking their forks and knives away at the dinner certainly didn't help Obama in this case.

Maybe they thought somebody's relative had been killed by the guns that Obama sent the cartels. Somebody gotta keep the cocaine flowing to the Whitehouse.....

 

Obama's SS certainly tried to play it down as no big deal and that it supposedly happens a lot without people realizing it. But if Obama was trying to pander to the Latino community, inviting them to dinner then treating them like they're going to shank him vato-style is not the way to do it.

 

Here's your context: Inviting somebody to get their vote and then treating them like a thug. Context given.

 

I guess Obama figures that if Hispanics cannot be trusted to obey our immigration laws then they are dangerous people who cannot be trusted with a dangerous weapon such as a fork that could be used to harm His Imperial Majesty.

 

Forkless Friday at Obama event

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. --Does a fork or dinner knife pose an unacceptable danger to President Barack Obama?

One wouldn’t think so, given the hundreds of lunches and dinners he’s attended ranging from state dinners to political fundraisers to run-of-the-mill stops on the rubber-chicken circuit.

However, at one such lunch Friday afternoon, guests heard an unusual announcement that they needed to hand over their silverware for security reasons.

“It’s very important that you use your utensils as soon as possible,” National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials board member Raquel Regalado told about 1000 delegates at the group’s annual conference. [see video at link]

Regalado hurried the diners to finish up their salads and pre-cut chicken breasts, saying that the Secret Service required that there be no knives at the tables and that the forks be rounded up before Obama entered the room.

“As you know, we’re having another speaker and there is some Secret Service involved. So there’s a reason why there’s no knives at your table and the forks will be collected. ... And I’m not joking,” Regalado told the audience in a ballroom at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. “So, like the good Hispanic mother I’m here to tell you to please, eat your lunch.”

A Secret Service spokesman confirmed that the agency made the request, but said such requirements are common at large events where the president speaks at about the same time people are dining.

“The Secret Service coordinates this process with staff and host committee to ensure tables are cleared of material that may be deemed hazardous prior to the arrival of the president,” Special Agent Max Milien told POLITICO. "Any implication that this was unique for this event is completely inaccurate."

In other words, the announcement at the Latino officials’ event may have been unusual, but the removal of the silverware usually takes place without anyone realizing it’s a security measure.

Still, there are a wide variety of breakfasts, lunches and dinners the president attends where diners still have the full complement of silverware as Obama speaks.

Milien declined to comment on the discrepancy. However, it’s known that the Secret Service adjusts security depending on the size of the crowd and how much officials know about who’s in attendance. At some events, guests must pass through magnetometers. At others, they don’t.

According to the article in the OP, which I clearly read before I posted here, this is a common proactive.

If you have any evidence, a shred, a morsel, to support your charge that the president was worried about his safety please present it and I will review it with an open mind.

As for your parting salvo, the only thing I am defending here is honesty and accuracy in criticism.

I am sorry, according the article you presented in your OP, which you posted, the removal of silverware is commonplace and not limited to Hispanic crowds.

When the president gives a speech, and takes forks away from hispanics, but it doesn't happen at other events, he is afraid of them. He won't let them enjoy their (*)(*)(*)(*) chicken, and they are not gonna take it anymore!!!
