Just because pagans are not believers in the God of Abraham does not necessarily make them 100% in error. King Cyrus was regarded as a Messiah...yet it is clearly stated that he did not know God!!! Isa 45:1 ¶ Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; Isaiah 45:4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me. I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else, [there is] no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
I figure the being of light guy who meets people when they have a brush with death is really the Word/Logos/The God of Abraham but religious people are scared of NDE's because they figure by recognizing NDE accounts they may lose power or prestige or control or something along that line???!!! http://www.drbo.org/chapter/30006.htm [6] http://www.near-death.com/triggers.html Triggers of Near-Death Experiences How NDEs Can Be Induced (That link on Extreme Gravity that indicates that NDE's can be triggered in virtually a laboratory setting is especially scary to the people who control religion)!
That's not the slightest bit true, or rather, you can't say that with the slightest bit of certainty. This is something I've thought about before. If life evolved on another planet, it would only have to have reached the point we are at now a few thousand years before us. So even if you assume that another world with life on it is the same age as the Earth, all that planet would have needed to conceivably develop interstellar technology is a few thousand year head start on us. I'm not saying they'd definitely have been able to develop it, as our current understanding of physics puts travel times well into the thousands to millions of years depending on your speed, but also consider that a hundred years ago, we didn't even know the universe was expanding, or that Pluto even existed. Also consider that the biology of alien life may allow them to live longer making long space voyages more feasible. Perhaps they've mastered some type of hibernation technology. Who knows. What I do know is that we don't know enough to rule out intelligent alien life, and even intelligent alien life with the means to traverse space.
In all probability the universe has millions, if not billions, of intelligent life forms. But in our region of space it simply doesn't matter. No space aliens of any kind have ever visited Earth. Just because there's intelligent life in other solar systems so what? We will never be able to intermingle. In fact we might all become extinct before we even make it to one of the planets in our respective solar systems. As far as humanity is concerned we've only been intelligent less than 100 years. Heck, most of humanity is still stuck in the Stone and Bronze Ages. There's probably fewer than 10 million intelligent people on Earth out of over 7 billion. And we are not in the intelligent group.
Locate a world where these magically advanced lifeforms exist that sent explorers to Earth. http://www.atlasoftheuniverse.com/50lys.html
ok let's try this again. IF they could have gotten here, being able to have found us would have happened a long time before that. WE (as a people) have been finding planets, first gas giants, and now rock and Earth sized, like mad over the last few years and we haven't been past the moon. http://www.voanews.com/content/science-earthlike-planets-nearby/1598607.html
OK, suppose they did determine that our Sun has planets. We can't find any planets smaller than Neptune http://images.spaceref.com/news/2008/jupiter-etc.jpg. Of course we are primitive and they might be a lot more advanced. But so what? Even if they did detect tiny Earth they couldn't be sure what kind of planet it was. So why would they waste a fortune going someplace they didn't have a clue as to what was on the other end? They could send robots or androids. But that would still involve the fuel, communication, and navigation problems. Plus such a project would cost a fortune, even in alien dollars.
if they were looking to mine methane off a gas giant, that would have already been a huge capital expenditure. running a long term biology experiment to look into their own theories on life could have just been a tax write off. of course they could just be curious like us too. in all seriousness. the rate that human knowledge is doubling has gone from centuries to years to months, soon it will be weeks, days and hours. that there couldn't have been races more advanced than ours is chauvinism. our second generation planet (compared to the universe) has had several mass extinctions. there's a lot of potential for there to still be a first generation civilization out there and that would make it billions of years ahead of ours. we have theory on FTL travel and DNA manipulation that they've have plenty of time to make fact. - - - Updated - - - sulfur-based life would have been more interested in Venus for sure.
Even if you could go multiples faster than light it would still take too long to go anywhere. Besides, our neighborhood is fairly crowded. It would be very easy to run into a large object and get dinged. It would really be interesting to see how anyone could plot a FTL course. Things move. And the farther they are from you the greater the movement. Your vessel will have to be the most perfect and reliable thing ever built since you will likely want to return home. Then there's the possible problem of exiting and entering a heliosphere from deep space.
if you fold space-time you don't actually move, but for an instant you are in two places at once. from there it's just deciding which point to be at. if you pause and check things out everything will be fine...even if you didn't file a flight plan.
Stuff like that works great in the movies. Let me know when we touch the Sombrero Galaxy. http://www.iac.es/telescopes/IAM/albums/2005/09_Dic05_M104.jpg
i've heard that if you can hold on for 15 more years, you might be able to live forever...but i heard that on late night radio.
Aliens could not find a better way to get gold then finding the rare planted that hosts life playing with said life and making crappy workers out of it? Hell find a big rock crack it open send in the drones and you wont have to scour a good chunk of the universe and study alien biology to do it
As if pre-scientific peoples needed actual alien visits to come up with wacky stories. People still invent and believe in a LOT of weird crap (as evidenced by the ancient aliens theorists, no less) today, in the information age where bunk can be easily researched and debunked. Just.. lulz.
I also have to chuckle at the notion that an alien could ever be sexually compatible with a human being. We're not even compatible with our fellow terrestrial animals, certain fellow primates possibly excluded.
There are no pictures of Christ. There are a bunch of paintings of what artists thought he would look like. hence why he is always white ehrn painted by a white artists, but no one knows what he actually looked like. Except that he was dark skinned
They probably were at one time. We know that Mars used to have surface water, and we know that Venus has water frozen in it's crust, but that a global ice age keeps it too cold to have liquid water.
