How about red bandanas and a "workers of the world unite" chant? Or, a SEIU purple bandana and chants of Obama, Obama, Obama? Would that be ok? And, what is racist about an American flag and a chant of "USA!" in the USA?

The USA isn't very popular in California. Viva Mexico is far more palatable to most Californians.

They should have flown the Mexican flag and chanted about Cesar Chavez. That would be fully protected speech. Chanting "USA!" is racist!

No one would mess with them. They certainly wouldn't call them possible racists.

Punished by the same Hate America Crowd who find their "patriotism" in defrauding American taxpayers.

Why should Mexicans think it's racist? Their family obviously came to America.

As with most of Don's articles.. there is always more to the story.

Did they make them take off the bandanas and leave because the school and its godless lib teachers hate Amerika and jesus? Probably not.

“We wanted to make sure (the chant) wasn’t racially motivated, and I told the kids I just want to be sensitive to the feelings of everybody,” Lipman said. “If we’re doing it for patriotism, that’s fine. But if we’re doing it for something else that’s racially motivated, I’m not going to allow that.”

More likely they made them take off the bandanas and leave because there were already racist terms being yelled (see article) and some of those chanting were pointing directly at the Rio Mesa fans as if to insinuate those browns are not part of the USA.

Sounds like the admin was trying to keep things under control during a heated rivalry game that has gone overboard before.... OR... it could be part of Obamas New World order masterplan... you decide. Personally, I dont really care either way.

As it doesn't comport with progressive dogma, America's participation in the Olympics will eventually be prohibited.

There are two separate cultures in California. The dominant culture is Mexican in many ways. The dominant culture wants to marginalize the minority culture.

BS is right. How is shouting "USA" even relevant at a high school basketball game? Was it an international basketball game? I'm guessing not... which is probably why the kids were told to can it. These stories conveniently leave out all kinds of facts.

They shouted USA for obvious reasons.. the opposing team is a mostly hispanic makeup. It was meant to be inflamitory, not patriotic.

Gawd, I HATE this politically correct BS!! It's strangling our country!

Why would chanting "USA!", clearly a nationalistic cry, be construed as racist? And since when is shutting down free speech in order to find out if there's something nefarious about it a reasonable course of action in a free country?

Only liberals would have a problem with American students displaying patriotism.
Isn't there a place liberals would rather be, Canada maybe?

Patriotism or not, there is an *inconvenient* bill of rights that protects everything they did. The principal should be fired for being a treasonous ass and be expatriated to the friggin moon for trampling on students in the name of being politically correct.

This wouldn't have been a headline if it was a Cinco de Mayo celebration and mexicans were chanting Viva la Me-hee-ko. It would be 'cultural enrichment' or some other pile of horse (*)(*)(*)(*).

Pure excrement. I've had enough of their 'enrichment' for a life time.

Yes... see article. I didn't see anything in your article that said racist terms were already being yelled.

It's obvious that shouting USA is inflammatory? If a student finds that offensive, I suggest they are attending school in the wrong country.

It is about time that the traitorous b'crats and teachers be thrown out of the educational system, and never allowed to return. Why do we put up with this kind of BS????

Apparently nationalism is great, but not when America does it.

I didn't realize you had to have a reason to celebrate the USA in the USA.

if they were shouting "we want pizza" would it make a difference?

Despite leftist attempts, we still live in the greatest nation and more displays of patriotism should be applauded, not scorned

    leftists really really suck

So if you want to offend Hispanic people in the USA, you should chant "USA"? Could you explain the reasoning behind that?
