I don't even really know what a 'truther' is, really. Is there an official definition? But to address it, I don't consider myself one... based off what I've seen from others, and what they think and say and do.
Individuals that claim the United States government, agencies of the United States or individuals within such agencies were either responsible for or purposefully complicit in the September 11 attacks. Side question: A local truther made the claim yesterday that the FDNY are cowards who are complicit in the attacks on 9/11. Is there a reason you didn't challenge that claim?
No, I don't think there were American hands involved in the attacks, there was a lack of American hands involved in one fashion, but I firmly believe that other state actors were involved in the attacks.
Do you agree with 'Fraud that the FDNY were complicit in the attacks? If not, why have you not challenged him on that claim? Edited to add: On the one hand you engage in an argument over whether there might or might not be paid government shills in this tiny forum. On the other, someone makes a blanket statement about some real heroes and you remain silent. Can you explain this?
I don't know, I guess I don't feel like I need to defend them from RWF. If someone reading his posts sides with his theory of events, then I believe there is no length of verbiage I can deploy that will save them all from hanging themselves. If one wishes to listen, soak in or believe RWF's verbosity, then that is on them. The FDNY, or any firemen for that matter, their merit speaks for itself. The reckless dialogue of one conspiracy theorist is not going to damage the idols who fight our collective fires for us. Not in my eyes at least. Besides, let's collaboratively brainstorm here for a moment. What string of words, or links, is necessary to combat this effectively?
Combat what, exactly? Fraud's accusations? I don't know that they need combating per se, but it would be interesting if someone from his 'side' stood up and said: 'you're going to far'. Since you're a non-shill (so far) perhaps that would click something in his brain. Probably not, granted, but still ...
Not for a second. It would just be interesting in this little social cluster. I have witnessed a 'truther fight' on another message board, long ago when there was actually a 'movement' of sorts. It was epic and entertaining.
"SPACE BEAMS!" "MINI NUKES!" "DISINFORMATION ARTIST!" "GOVERNMENT SHILL!" "HOME SCHOOLER!" "SUBSTITUTE MATH TEACHER!" etc, etc.
Right. I have a threshold of when I get involved. Kind of like when someone says LeBron or Kobe are better than Michael, I will respond in kind when someone besmirches the FDNY - silence. Some things just need to be ignored, you know, because its just noise.
Normal people don't camp out on multiple forums continully monotoring the conspiracy threads...You come off as a phony, smug, blowhard champ and you are not fooling anyone...Go back to JREF where the shills reign supreme. Cheers
They pretty much "camp out" right here. Almost 24/7. Check it out sometime. Been happening in here even, for literally years...probably a decade with the same crew.
Well, you're partway right. I do spend a lot of time monitoring CT fora. "Know your enemy" and all that. I do ospend a bit of time on political boards and history and law and justice. It all ties in. I also do cooking and poetry venues. You lot are far less rounded than I am. That's why I never fell for the Nazi crap that kicked off the 9/11T clown show.
Jango, I do have to politely disagree with you as far as the FDNY, and remaining silent. I guess that's why I take such a shining to the "debunking." Firefighters aren't going to come here and defend themselves against these baseless accusations. Whether it will change the individuals mind or not, I feel it's important that someone stick up for them. They, at the very least, deserve us, as Americans, to defend them after what they sacrificed. The pain, torment, and depression that they've experienced since then. I don't understand how a person can see them being accused of these horrible crimes, with absolutely no evidence, and stand idly by letting it happen. That's not a dig on you, I understand your desire to not want to get involved. Couple that with the fact that you'd have better luck talking to a brick wall. Just the difference in perception.
Part of why I spend so much time and why I become so passionate about the 9/11 whackadoodle threads is that I was myself a fire fighter for a good part of my military career and am highly offended by the implication that fire fighters would be willing to go along with the crap that the worst of the twoofers throw on them, especially the suggestion that they can be intimidated to the point of not seeking revenge for the murders of hundreds of their brothers in one day. I don't even see how a real man could even entertain the thought that they might be.
Absolutely lefty, people underestimate the brotherhood that comes together when you risk your life with a group of individuals repeatedly. The proud men and women that comprise the FDNY and firehouses across the nations are more than just coworkers. They become family, you have to trust your life to those people regularly. To think that they would be able to watch their brothers die, or listen to the immobility alarms that rang through the silence at ground zero after the towers, with knowledge of a controlled demolition is insulting. They are better than that, and they deserve better than that. If I have to sit here and post that a million times I will, and never grow tired of it.
Yeah man, I hear what you're saying, I do, but I guess I just value some people's words as meaningless when they talk about certain things, you know? I don't know if demolishing his "argument" or debasing him himself would be worth the effort because who is going to listen to him in the first place? Secondly, if they do listen to him, well, (*)(*)(*)(*) them then. Their words and argument are baseless. Everyone knows that. There is no room for doubt.
