Christians insist to me that I am only Atheist because I am 'angry with god'. I am not angry with 'god' because (AFAIK)'god' doesn't exist. I am no more angry with God than I am with Baal, Tiahmut, Wotan, Quetzalcoatl, Yog Sothhoth, Sauron, Voldermort or Adenoid Hinkle

May I ask if you have ever truly tried to pray to the Lord, or if you have ever really been exposed to his teachings? Have you ever really tried to open your heart to Him and let his mercy, grace, and love fill your soul?

have you ever asked Odin. Tiahumat or Quetzecoatle to have his love fill your soul? Have you been exposed to their teachings?

I went to a Christian school and had your teachings shoved down my throat. Or you could just prove that God exists.

Well, just going to a Christian school doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to McDonalds makes you a big mac, What I asked is if you've ever truly opened your heart to the Lord, repented of your sins, and placed your faith in him?

Atheists are individuals. I was an atheist because it was easier to believe as I did. When the evidence etc for the existence of God got to the point that I no longer found it easy to be an atheist I became something else. So some atheists are angry at God some aren’t and I suspect there are as many reasons to be an atheist as there are atheists.

All atheists ARE individuals but if you are angry at God then, by definition, you are not an atheist. There certainly are theists that are angry at God and act out because of it. But you can't be angry at something you don't think exists.

Would that not require accepting it as real?

I tried doing that when i was a Child...nothing happened. I suppose you will claim that I didn't do it properly or 'god has his reasons'.
I never said that going to a christian school made me a Christian but I did have the nonsense you call 'teachings' forced down my throat when I could have been using the time to learn something more usefull.

May I ask what the evidence was that convinced you? And if that evidence was false would you really want to know that?

A shame that they don't use the same critical thinking skills to examine their own deity. Atheists just take it one god further.

Yes isnt that what I said? ie " Atheists are individuals", lol.

What most people I speak with mean when they say atheists are angry with God they mean atheists became atheists because they were angry at God. Maybe a series of horrible things happened to them and they thought; God must not exist or he would not let this happen" .... So more accurately some atheists became atheists because of an anger issue with God.

True. Also just as theists believe in thousands of different ways so goes atheism. Well thousands of reasons is an exaggeration but there are several different definitions for 'atheist' even in professional circles.

Is your wrist taped to your forehead? That is like a black guy saying; " I went to a KKK meeting and they were not nice to me". See the problem? FYI, there is evidence for Gods existence just like there is evidence for the inner workings of a black hole or other processes and items that science claims exists but has never seen like quantum particles. To add salt to that wound even science uses falsification as an necessary part of its method. So 'proof' of anything is subjective, or impossible, ask René Descartes Kant, or any number of eminent philosophers etc. past or present. Also look up solipsism, its an interesting and I think valid way to understand some aspects of existence.

Yes certainly. Really it was the summative of many evidences that began to force me to admit my atheism was not so good of a world view. The most influential item happened at the same time I became intensely interested in advanced cosmology and did a lot of study on the big bang model of our universes beginnings etc. When I discovered that time, matter energy everything else began to exist at a definite ‘point’ which contradicted Einstein’s beliefs (he said the universe was eternal and static) and other early 20th century science and scientists, it dawned on me that creation also says that there was a creation point. About the same time I was introduced to Craigs (PhD ThD etc) writings on his version of the KCA (a cosmological argument) I could no longer support my atheistic worldview. So that was the turning point. After that many science discoveries support my beliefs rather than not. Penrose an skeptic/agonistic himself wrote that the universe should not even exist as it does and should be a white hot plasma, giving the odds as (one to) ten to the one hundred and twenty third power AGAINST this life giving universe. What made the universe begin to exist when there was absolutely nothing?

So....because the sciences have yet to know everything there is to know, we should assume God did it, regardless of the complete lack of anything to support the hypothesis?

This goes right back to the beginning of why the belief is unacceptable to me.

I think you'll find that a lot of atheists were Christians. I believed in god, and I truly tried to open my heart to him. Eventually I realized that when I was praying, I was talking to myself, and I realized that there was nothing there - no evidence I could rely on. So I dropped my belief, just like I drop my belief in everything I cannot demonstrate to be true.

Well there are certainly some interesting aspects to your statement. I'll have to look into that. In the meantime you might find this of interest:

This may interest you as well:

Also you said:

What is the "something else" that you became? I hope you didn't go from having a few questions to becoming one of those Christian lunatics. I mean its cool if you're a deist or something. Nobody can really know for sure if there was a god who created everything and then stepped back to let it run its course. But the idea of a god who helps a football player win a game and all that is just pathetic.

I think that all myth or stories have some element of truth. However I did not see the same correlations between mythlogy and the bible. The bible has real dates of real events etc, some that were mentioned before found by archological expedition.

The universe actually did not require a Copenhagenanian’** [sic] pre- bang observer in my take of how the universe began to exist. What the universe needed was a cause to begin to exist. 'Before' the big bang there was nothing. That means no thing N-O-T-H-I-N-G. that includes the four fundamental forces of nature, there was no vacuum, no space, no energy, no matter ie atoms quarks bosons electrons etc, no energy, no ZPE, NOT EVEN QUANTUM PROCESSES OR PARTICLES, VIRTUAL OR OTHERWISE. Of course this is the inference of the standard Big Bang (hot) model/theory.......

Which leads us to thinking outside the box maybe even delving into metaphysics, and taking logic on face value despite where it leads. And that my friends is uncharted territory where no secular mind has gone before due to being scared sh*tless that god really does exist, or rather that a burning hell may exist lol…yes that was a bit of levity ~

So what 'thing' has zero physical traits (must be spiritual eh?) can cause the universe to begin to exist out of absolutely ‘nothing’ known to science, nothing physical, as I pointed out above, and something that is eternal since time was created in the big bang ? A shortened version; What is eternal and can create universes. God is a logical rational and the best answer. The reason being is if all the above attributes are considered with an open mind including the stunning odds against our type universe* coming into existence, those attributes are the same as those of God. To deny that is to be highly bigoted as well as existing in a pathological state of denial allowing emotions to rule your decisions and upset the ability to distinguish reality from fantasy of wishful thinking i.e. that the bible is not true and god does not exist.

* I like the Copenhagen interpretation too, but its one of quite a few. Established secular science is running from the C interp. because of its upsetting theistic and metaphysical implications. They are doing the same, running like rats from a burning building from the standard big bang model that they have embraced for thirty years or more! Now the new darling is the completely unverified string theory with its attendant metaverses (eternal infinite universes that require no beginning etc) and all sorts of things that require FAR more faith than unicorns to believe.

You keep assering this, but run away whenever I ask you to back this statement up.

It has absolutely nothing to do with logic. The cosmological argument has been refuted again and again.

"Believe me or else I will insult you" is not an argument. Why is God the answer? What elements did God create the Universe from if nothing existed? How can there be causality without time? Who said the Universe began to exist in the first place? Your answer relies on ignoring inconsistencies and coming up with unfounded assumptions. It is inherently illogical.
