In the last couple of years we are reading more and more of really stupid actions by schools.

The latest is some district b'crat actually snatching school lunches out of children in Utah. Parents were NOT notified that their kid lunch tickets were running low on money. So----------at the school when kid picked up their lunches and went to check out, a district b'crat grabbed their lunch tray and threw it in the garbage. How stupid, insensitive, and ignornat can some b'crat be. This is beyond the pale of common sense. IMO that b'crat should be out on the street Mon morning with a pink slip in their hand as a warning to all fools like him or her.

Maybe schools hire stupid people to make the kids feel good.

There is a difference (not a big one) between stupid and arrogant. BTW, does anyone know what the reaction was from the kid's parents? I know what mine would have been but can't post it for fear of self-incrimination.
    Enjoy!

Fox News had one father on this morning. His daughter's lunch ticket was a whole $4.00 in the red. To say the least he was not pleased. He says he gets all sorts of e-mails all the time, but not one word that he needed to put more money on the lunch ticket.

BTW what is so incredably stupid here is the kids trays were already filled, and then that stupid b'crat grabbed the trays and threw them in the garbage. What a waste.

Continuing with the stupid theme. In a local (Idaho) forum, one of our own conservative posters made the comment that it was teaching them that there's no such thing as a free lunch. So much for compassionate conservatism, huh? If there ever was that notion.

But we are talking schools here, and they are full of liberals. So it seems that a compassionate liberal is no more.

There is something wrong when a wealthy country has to supply lunches for students.

Just to fill you in, there is a school feeding programme in rural areas and lunches are subsidised in the cities in Laos,, one of the poorest nations in Asia.

Has America really slipped that far under the carpet?

I think there is something wrong when a wealthy country can't feed its poorest children...
We have programs in our local schools breakfast and lunches are provided for those who cannot afford it...conservative political ideolgy is given no consideration in feeding children....

There's no reason why the schools should have to charge the kids to eat. All school food costs should be factored in as part of the operating budget and paid for by school taxes.

I remember the days when our parents packed our lunches. But then again that was before liberals turned this country into a pantywaste joke that it is today.

We seem to have adopted the English rules regarding school lunches. Kids can get a "felony rap" for bringing their own eats.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-four-days-packet-Mini-Cheddars-lunchbox.html

The Mail Online has countless stories about the goons running the school lunch programs.

I doubt if things with get better since the goons here and abroad seem intent on running things their way.

That's beyond pathetic. I send my son to school with a chocolate snack every day. I have yet to hear a problem nor do I expect to hear a problem.

I'm sure that you will have a problem very soon. You may want to start thinking about how you will handle it.

LOL! I sincerely doubt it. The school district knows I'm not afraid of going public with a problem since they've seen me in the newspaper already.

this story is about a debt account system used by the students to pay for their meals in the school. poor students have their's paid for by the government in the same lunchroom.

Still pretty bad in a country like the US when the 'government' feeds the kids.

i'm not getting what your beef is? is it that schools have food service programs?, is it that they don't charge the poor kids or that there are poor kids that need the help?

if it's the later, i'd like to know what culture in the history of man has had no poor people.

Every country will have its poor for various reasons that's unavoidable, whats important is how the country in question responds to it...

I agree...but for wealthy countries like the usa and others there shouldn't even be a discussion on the topic...why is this issue even in the news it should've been dealt with decades ago...feed those kids who can't feed themselves....

I don't have a kid in school, but I would campaign for mandatory psych tests for school staff, at the start and middle of a school year. If it keeps 1 pedophile or power tripper away from kids it would be worth it.( Anybody know if this is already being done somewhere?).
    Enjoy!

The majority of education majors are in the bottom 20% of their class. Many teachers are not, and they are great - but the bulk of our education work force come from the lowest performing college students, and that cannot change with the unions in place. They can only get paid more, unless we get a voucher system. Then we can have some schools following the Finnish model of attracting high performing teachers competing with those that still hire from the bottom of the class.

yeah, we do...and for the kids that are bordeline, they get a discount.

back on topic..the OP is about a lunchroom employee taking food from kids because their accounts were low or in debt AND THROWING THE FOOD AWAY.

not denying them lunch, taking it from them...and wasting food.
