I was stopped for Jay Walking today

One argument for the Brown case, which led to a lot of speculation about law enforcement, was why on Earth did Brown get stopped for Jay Walking? As the extremists say, it was because he's black.

I was stopped at 8:22AM today crossing out of a cross walk, trying to take a short cut to starbucks for some coffee. A cop in his vehicle flipped the lights and waived me to him. He got out and issued me a C.O.Virginia warning citation.

What did I do when this happened? I said, "yes sir, I completely understand that I violated the law by walking out of a cross walk. Thank you for not issuing me a ticket. I appreciate it and it will never happen again".

It will please you to know that this officer in particular did not pull out his gun and shoot me. This officer thanked me, and went about his business.

So in your opinions, was this officer letting me off because of my skin tone, or because I was respectful and courteous, and admitted my wrong?

You were robbed, had this happened a short time earlier you could have used the event to springboard a "Race Together" conversation with the Starbucks folks...

 

Definitely because you're white. Were you black, he wouldn't have even bothered getting out of his car -- he would have just picked you off in the crosswalk from the air conditioned comfort of his Police Special.

You know what is funny.......the ignorance of how black people are daily treated by police. Sad really.

 

My opinion is you got a good cop, as we do have them, even if they do keep quiet about the bad ones, as we have so few Serpicos these days. ( a cop from a film that tried to turn in criminal cops)

And of course, it did help a great deal that you were not black, with your drawers showing as the crotch of your pants dragged the ground.

But this is not in any way defending Brown, for he was a thug that had just robbed merchandise from a store, for he felt since he was young and strong, he could just take from others what he wanted. Brown physically attacked a cop, so the outcome of that incident is his own fault. He felt like he could do as he wanted with the cop, as he had done with the shopkeeper. And he died lying on the pavement for his behavior. But people like Brown have a habit of getting killed sooner or later, for they are criminal thugs, who do not deserve to live in a civilized society. The world at large does not mourn over criminal thugs, if they have a single living brain cell.

But here is the deal...we have far too many cops who should not have a job policing the public, and we have a militarized police force, that all too often act as if they are in afganistan, fighting the enemy. We have a problem with how our cops act, and the policy of shooting first and asking questions later is a tremendous problem. The over use of deadly force is also a problem, and a society should never tolerate it. And if you are black, in many parts of this nation of ours, you get treated worse by our cops, than if you were white. That is a hard fact. But I don't think racism is a big factor, perhaps a little factor, depending upon the cop. I think cops treat blacks differently because there is so much crime and violence that comes from these blacks, and not proportionate to their percentage of population. So, you find more criminals, more violence in our blacks, and the cops know this. And that affects the way they treat blacks.

Here is a thought experiment. What do you think would happen if a black walked through a poor neighborhood, that was white? Do ya think he would be robbed or attacked? Now, what would happen if you walked through a poor black neighborhood? Would your chances for being attacked or robbed, increase? Where I live that indeed would be the case. You would literally be risking your life to do so, in most poor black areas. But not in white ones. Unless of course you lived in Zimmerman's neighborhood, and he was watching for blacks breaking in houses to steal what folks worked hard to get. But of course, you would have to start beating the (*)(*)(*)(*) out of the guy first, before you would have to worry about being shot.

 

Who can say for sure? This is an anecdote.

I don't consider myself racist and I probably shouldn't notice, but it's uncanny how many blacks jaywalk in my city. Although blacks are somewhat rare here, black jaywalker numbers are all out of whack. They will jaywalk between cars stopped at red lights when they have only 30 more feet to make it to the crosswalk. Absolutely incredible I tell ya.

Yes, a white person got stopped for jay walking therefore all black complaints about police profiling are unsubstantiated.

In other news, I had a filling lunch today, therefore no one in America ever goes hungry.

Maybe the cop should have just summarily executed you. I mean, conservatives on this forum keep trying to tell me that the law should exist to prevent criminals from committing crimes again and to deter other criminals from committing them.

 

Was this before or after you robbed a convenient store and assaulted an innocent person?

Oh--------------------------------after pondering this post for quite some time, the reason you got off with a warning is you didnt try to beat the hell out of the cop and try to take his gun like Brown did.

BTW your color nor did Brown's color had any influence on the situation. You complied, Brown didnt. Race had nothing to do with it, even if racist like Sharpton, Holder, and Obama thinks it does.

 

Pics or it didn't happen. I want to see a scan of said citation, a live interview with the officer that gave you the citation with his original carbon copy of said warning. Until then I'm calling this one made up.

Not that you weren't polite to the cop. That's always the best way to handle police, be polite, straightforward, relaxed, and non argumentative.

I'm just doubting the existence of a jaywalking citation, and thanks to the birthers, we must investigate claims like this to the utmost ludicrous level possible.
