I blame all who are responsible.

That includes Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt.

No no no, UN gets the lion share of blame.

“The only real Palestinian naqba came not in 1948 at the hands of Zionists, but in 1949, at the hands of foreign aid bureaucrats in the form of United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). In an unprecedented decision, applied to no other refugees on the face of the Earth, the UN extended its smothering embrace not only to the allegedly innocent Arab “victims” of the chaos of the 1948 war but also in perpetuity to all their descendants.

Like most welfare states, the UNRWA was formed less to provide for the good of its beneficiaries than to assuage the guilt of its creators. In a desire to compensate the Palestinians for their alleged victimization by the creation of the State of Israel, the international bureaucracies perpetrated and created a genuine and permanent victimization. Masked by a roughly $4 billion annual flood of outside aid to the Palestinian Arabs, the UN work of worldly charity has wreaked six decades of moral havoc.

The UNRWA effectively granted its benefactions only on the condition that the Palestinians never relinquish their dream of the complete destruction of the state of Israel. Otherwise, these generations of putative Palestinians could hardly qualify as “refugees.” Sixty years later, the UNRWA continues to underwrite and encourage murder, irredentism, terrorism, fecklessness and futility among the 1.4 million hapless souls who live in its 59 camps.

Israel forced around half of them out.

Israel refuses to let them back in.

Nope. The Jews ethnic cleansed them.
I mentioned that such is the conclusion of the military intelligence SHAI of the Haganah.
The Jews than made laws to make it illegal for specifically Arabs to return to their houses
The Jews than made laws to confiscate the properties of people who were refused to return.
    It's all well known.

So it's you who is telling the lies to cover up the Jewish ethnic cleansing and thieving frenzy.

Since when should the victor pay reparation to a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing losers? Ah yes, if it's Jews the victor, they should pay anyway... Them Arabs should not have left their homes hoping to return victorious.

Who said anything about reparations? I only said Israeli Jews thieved and ethnic cleansed on a rather massive scale. And I am right and you were telling lies about it. About the entire Israeli Jewish population is still in on committing war crimes. Biggest political party got it on it's agenda, and they are eager to help out the military institution that does it. It's a total joke that when the rockets come flying in, that they whine that they are so innocent. Most of them are war criminals, others are just standing to close them.

But now you mention it. To reward a thieving racist that they can keep what is not theirs.
I doubt these caveman norms apply today.

Well, that isn't the whole history, of course.

And, what "rings true" is that the US has prevented the UN from having an effective role.

Fingers pointed at the UN end up pointing back at us on this issue.

As Obama "rethinks" our relationship with Israel, one of the key issues is how thoroughly we will continue to prevent international law from applying to Israel.

Then, I will ask again...if Israel wanted to "ethnic cleanse," why do they allow Arab-Israelis to vote and serve in the government? You'd think if they wanted to get rid of them - the last thing they'd let them do is vote. Weird, huh?

Some do complain in much the same manner African-Americans complain here in the US. I'm sure there's still some racism in Israel, and much of it is fed by fear that Arab citizens will side with the Pals who keep lobbing rockets into Israel.

We both know that's a blatant lie.

More lies. Food and medicine are not denied. Power has been disconnected (remember that Israel provides Gaza power) when rocket attacks were at their peak. The "slaughter of civilians" is on Gaza's shoulders as we already determined by the Geneva Conventions.

More lies - you are the perfect example of why folks need to question anti-Israeli types who are spewing verbal feces.

Read up on this and try not to tell the same lie again. Sheesh.

It's "no ma'am," not "no sir," and, no, it's not propaganda to say that Zionist forces were behind "part" of the Arab exodus of 48.

What is propaganda is to blame it on Israel as a nation because the events were not carried out under official business. They were small groups - and while some were antagonistic - others were reacting to the attacks on Jewish homes and the destruction of the roads by arabs.

The "Haganah" was a Jewish paramilitary that had existed long before 1948. It formed in the 20s to protect Jewish families from Arab attacks. The events surrounding the exodus of the Arabs didn't happen in a vacuum. There were Arab gangs attacking and killing Jews for three decades before that.

Later, the State of Israel, because it had to get the Haganah under control, brokered with the group to become a part of the IDF.

"the method for taking over an Arab village: Surround the village and search it (for weapons). In case of resistance — … expel the population beyond the border… If there is no resistance, a garrison should be stationed in the village. . . appoint local institutions for administering the village internal affairs. The text clarified unequivocally that expulsion concerned only those villages that would fight against the Hagana and resist occupation, and not all Arab hamlets."

The "Jewish state" bill Netanyahu backs does exactly what I said it does.

In the words of the Meretz political party leader:

"Meretz leader Zehava Gal-On said that Netanyahu's support for the bill, which she called "a crime against democracy" shows he thinks that a Jewish State is an extreme nationalist one in which racism is backed by the law."

"This bill subordinates the democratic regime and the judiciary to Jewish nationalism by Elkin, by declaring that Arabic is not an official language, that new laws must be in the spirit of 'Jewish law' and that the state will promote Jewish settlement but is not required to build for other nationalities that live here," she stated.

    http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Po...nnounces-support-for-Jewish-State-Bill-381926

The law gives their courts the "Jewish state" justification as a legal alternative to democracy.

Even without this law, Arabs are not treated equally. For example, they don't have equal access to permits for living space, as there is opposition to the notion of meaningful local non-Jewish political participation.

Perhaps they should think twice before firing rockets into Israel and starting a conflict.

All imports are restricted and, while the restrictions get tighter and less tight at Israel's whim there are constant shortages of food and medicine in Gaza.

Israel has in the past provided only some of the electrical power. Israel targeted Gaza's electricity production during the war. Still, private generators are an important source, but they require fuel - which is also limited by the blockade.

Another way food is blocked is that Israel confiscated taxes owed to Gaza, steals its gas reserves, denies Gazan's access to work outside Gaza, blocks exports and otherwise crushes the economy of Gaza. So, food imports (other than international relief) cost money Gaza doesn't have.

Israel has blocked investigators from entering Gaza and the UN legal arm only becomes available to Palestine beginning in a couple days - the beginning of April.

Palestine's application for access to UN courts is one of the reasons Netanyahu clamped down on the blockade - an act of war and a case of illegal collective punishment that inspired the rockets fired by terrorists in Gaza.

This round of the conflict started with Netanyahu clamping down on the blockade to extreme levels.

His justifications were that Palestine had applied for participation in several UN organizations as is its right as a UN member state. Netanyahu also pointed to the Israeli teens who were killed (as it turned out, by terrorists based in Turkey). And, Netanyahu didn't like the unity government of Palestine under Abbas - a government to which Gaza acceded even though Hamas got zero seats!

Each of these is a clear case of collective punishment - illegal under international law.

Also, blockades such as this are acts of war.

So, claiming Gaza started it is not justifiable.

It may also be pointed out that there is a ceasefire at this time, but Israel is refusing to carry out the promises it made in obtaining that ceasefire, and is continuing with the blockade - which is STILL an act of war.

Untrue. Zehava Gal-On is extremely liberal and she opposed Bibi on principal.

What the bill would do - is simply reaffirm the already-existing state of Israel nationality.

Is or isn't Israel considered by the rest of the world to be the "Jewish" state?

Bibi's bill would have protected Jews in other parts of the world if they were under attack. It would also have paid for Jews from other countries to immigrate to Israel.

Neither of those things takes away the rights of Arab-Israeli citizens. Bibi's bill, in fact, reiterated that all citizens must receive equal rights under the law.

    Nobody is disagreeing with this.

In fact, Hamas has been stepping up its security efforts to prevent rockets from being fired from Gaza. Remember that the government of Gaza doesn't fire rockets, and the militant branch of Hamas in Gaza doesn't particularly do the government of Gaza's bidding and they aren't the only ones firing at Israel with the nearly worthless rockets and mortars.

Israel, on the other hand, bombs civilian houses, infrastructure, schools, and hospitals from modern warplanes, slaughtering civilians by the hundreds, leaving the survivors without water, housing, and other such necessities.

Clamping down just like Egypt because that is how much of the ordinance gets into Gaza but I don't hear the same complaints about Egypt. Is it because they are not Jewish?

    - - - Updated - - -

Like the article says, the reason they get killed is because that is where the rockets are fired from.

They ethnic cleansed enough to have Arabs as an irrelevant minority. Do take note that Netanyahu himself that yelled that Jews must all vote because the Arabs are coming "in droves". It's also that guy who got ethnic cleansing the West Bank a bit more to make more room for Jews on it's political agenda. That is a war crime, and he and his political supporters are therefor valid targets to take out. That Israel and it's Jews have ethnic cleansed Arabs and thieved their properties is simply a historic fact.

Those teens, where as I recall one was an adult,... were war criminals living on stolen Arab land across the Israeli border.
It's morally just to shoot to kill war criminals.

Arabs don't have equal rights under the law today, and this new law would give further justification for viewing the objective of a Jewish state as a justification equal to that of equality. Legal support for ensuring that Jewish objectives take precedence can not possibly immply equality. And, it already takes the form of restrictions on living location, building/buiness permits, right of return, ability to have one's spouse naturalized, immigration of ones extended family, etc., etc.

America has never been happy with the idea of religious states - be they Jewish, Muslim or Christian. We're more interested in democracy and equality. We've always seen that coming from secular government, not religious government.

You can't write off what the party leader I quoted said. That person is by NO MEANS the only important Jewish Israeli who has opposed this movement for a long time - it is NOT just an election issue. And, it is certainly opposed by Israeli Christians and Muslims.

Not really. Food and medicine shipments are inspected and approved for transfer. If some gazans cannot afford food and medicine, like some people in the US, that's a different story.

Israel provides most of the power and, were they the demons you claim they are, they could easily just shut it off for good and let the gazans perish.

It's funny but Israel was in talks to help the Palestinian Authority develop those off-shore reserves - up until the stupid gazans voted Hamas, a terrorist faction dedicated to the annihilation of Israel as their leadership. That's when the talks ended. And, rightly so.

Rarely, but perhaps for the reasons John Kerry just stated - that the UN is on the verge of losing credibility because of its "obsession" with Israel. You forget that Israel control the Erez crossing but that Egypt (an Arab nation) shuts down the Rafah crossing.

That sounds lovely but it's wrong. The rockets were flying long before that.
