Really? Sounds like your fantasy since sales records are being set for firearms just about every month now. BTW what was the compliance rate for the NY and CT gun registration laws?

The very fact you have used the term "gun grabber" indicates that any response will be rejected

Nope....but, I imagine they would be much the same as the ones that are used for other background checks. Can YOU tell us which of congress' enumerated powers allows for the prohibition of intoxicated driving...never mind the fact there were no cars back then, there were no AR-15s either.

    - - - Updated - - -

Can you also buy the 80mm cannon and mount it?

well since you clearly recognize me as "a caring and concerned individual", how do I fit in with your stereotype of the gun nuts... are all conservative evil rich white right-winger extremist fanatic gun advocate lovers, suddenly not me? I seem to get called that anytime I challenge someone who disagrees... but now since you've recognized one as caring and concerned, you'll need to stop using the stereotype hey... ironic you said I "bought it hook line and sinker", seems you have bought the opposite sides line and stereotype, hook line and sinker... wouldn't you say thats a fair statement... ;)

well since you suggest its not a "societal" issue... what legislative issue can we propose... get specific, thats what we want... we want specifics, why, because we want to see if it would have actually solved any of the daily problems we have... I mean look at the overwhelming results from NRA polls about things like background checks, we're all for it... not an issue... it might be an issue for politicians trying to pass sneaky laws with things written in that go WELL beyond this... and thats the huge issue we're going back on forth on actually... most people think the laws are straight forward and simple like that, but they have so much complex grenades written into them, some having nothing to go with gun laws at all... but they put'em in, to force the other side to say no, so they can grandstand in the media... why... to gain power in the next elections... same reason Obama was on his grandstand... it works... its sad america is caught in the middle...

since its not a societal issue, you should be able to clearly and straight forward give a direct example of "action reaction" law that would solve the issue, I await...

I don't disagree we have laws that limit our "freedom"... but they are founded on principles to how far that can go... and we're in a constant tug of war on both sides testing and retesting those limits every election cycle... its awful for us in the middle... I've always thought, I should have a right to pursue things that make me happy, as long as it doesn't infringe on your right to not participate or be affected by it... its kind of a pretty broad brush that has a lot of meaning behind it... I should be able to do things, until things I want, ruin your ability to pursue what you want... simple examples like my loud music at 4am really might anger you... and I should not be allowed to play loud music if I can't contain it and it disturbs your rights to not be apart of it... you can see how that easily applies to many things in life...

since you mentioned cars, since I mentioned them in response to a previous message... the point behind the story of backup cameras... we keep adding things to cars, that often substitute for being being responsible... backup cameras are a result because people never check their mirrors, are aware of whats around them, and accidents have occurred, fatalities in fact... and as a result the government has decided, we must prevent this in the name of safety, while adding a thousand dollars to the cost of the vehicle... I can no longer buy a vehicle without a camera or other options, because other people have chosen to lack responsibility for their own actions... and are bad drivers and, I guess, backer uppers? so my right to purchase a vehicle is becoming more restricted based upon if I can afford the lack of responsibility others in society have... thats not allowing me the freedom to pursue my happiness... its pricing things out of affordability to some people...

the more we mandate, the less responsibility people demonstrate, because they rely more and more on others to solve issues they are fully capable of solving... so why should I pay the price while pursuing my happiness, as a result of others choices not to be responsible and pursue happiness in a way that directly impacts me... much like drunk drivers, who were pursuing happiness at a bar, and decided to drive home, now affecting my rights to pursue happiness without their poor decisions affecting me... society places restrictions on impacting the rights of others to not be affected by your decisions... but we keep passing more and more laws doing just that, inflicting someone elses behavior upon me, restricting my right to pursue happiness...

now its not to say I should be allowed to do anything... I completely agree and understand there need to be boundaries... when I get angry I shouldn't be allowed to kill anyone, even if it makes me happy, clearly that would infringe on their rights to pursue happiness without me affecting them... see how I kinda brought to how I expect to live, and how I expect others to live, and that simple little belief... we should have the right to pursue happiness as long as it doesn't infringe on someone elses right to not be affected by my choices...

so lets get back to guns... I should have a right to have and use guns as I pursue happiness, as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others not to be affected by that... background checks, doesn't stop my pursuit of happiness... but many people do want to impose things that prevent my happiness and pursuit of... why, because they've said others can't be trusted, so we must restrict you, even though you haven't done anything wrong...

so we shift from a society of innocent until proven guilty, and laws that allow us to act this way... to a society of guilty until proven innocent, and laws that restrict how we act... thats not the principles I believe this country was founded on... there was a very good reason we all wanted a society of freedom and trust... because people were escaping what we're slowly becoming... now some of it is warranted, and some not... but at the end of the day, nobody is proposing a law, that solves the issue... thats the problem... I don't want another law that feels good to pass today, when I know tomorrow a hundred some people will be killed, even after its passed... although I am hoping you amaze me with your response, on what law would help us solve this issue...

so yeah I babbled on way more than I wanted... its hard not to run on sometimes with this issue, its a big issue... but please, share what laws you want passed to help solve this problem, you believe its a political issue, I still believe its a societal issue as you described my opinion... I see places with tons of guns, and no issues, then I drive across that state, to a city with tons of guns and huge issues... I can't help but think, there are no laws different on one side of this state from the other, so why such a great disparity between the two? why would sometimes crossing into a new zip code, dramatically change the outcome of society? a different law not present in the other zip code? but they are often the same... the only change... the society in that zip code... I think thats where we'll find things to work on, not on the guns they hold... but the problem they possess...

man I kept meaning to stop each runon sentence of mine... this is why teachers hated my papers...

Exactly. None of Congress' enumerated powers allow enactment of federal laws that restrict the acquisition, keeping, and bearing of arms by the people of the several states.

Does congress have the power to prohibit intoxicated driving? I was unaware of this. Can you cite the language in the constitution granting Congress such a power?

I don't know anybody who used an 80mm. But with the proper licenses you can. The latest Brad Pitt movie used fully functioning Sherman's.

You'd think that it would make parking easier? Can you see riding the south side of Chicago with a "new" paint job in a track?

Nope Again....it would seem you are either to frothing or something else to understand my point, so I will try to simplity:

Congress does not make our laws or have the power to do so.

Drunk driving IS illegal...look it up, or try it if you wish.

Congress cannot make gun shows do ANYTHING either. They can however put forth legislation and vote it into law.....they will not do so anyway, too costly for the next election.

    - - - Updated - - -

Oh...well obviously if it was in a movie...it must be truth.

if that doesn't get you pulled over in chicago, I don't know what will lol... that would tear up the horrible pavement and potholes there... my old tracked unit destroyed my driveway one fun summer day, that was an awful expensive lesson lol... but after I realized I was going to have to repave, it made for a heck of a weekend destroying the rest... lol

imagine pimps and drug dealers driving around chicago in old military equipment... you could put some 40" rims on some of those trucks...

so then you should also agree a car dealer should be allowed to be sued by drunk driver victims for selling the car to the drunk driver who had a previous DUI

Please, the Museum of the Pacfic uses fully functioning tracks including a pristine Sherman E8 that are all privately owned for the re-enactments.

I think you might be wrong about that. All federal laws are passed by congress and then signed by the president.

Congress may only pass legislation consistent with its enumerated powers. Can you tell us which of Congress' enumerated powers allows it to restrict the acquisition, keeping, and bearing of arms by the people of the several states

I am in favor of tighter gun control, but, since you thread is addressed to "gun grabbers", it is clear that the OP is only for trolling, so, I guess you are not really expecting any real responses anyway.

I bet you could pick up old 8 wheeled Russian BTR's along with a lifetime of spares for change and redo them for "inner city driving." I'm getting this huge visual and LMAO.

I don't consider you a gun fanatic, no, do you want me to think of you as one?

I readily admit I buy the opposite side's line, I think these slaughters are a very bad thing and should be stopped, and that should be done by just about whatever means are required. The Constitution is not a suicide pact and Freedom is of little use to the dead

My specific change to all the laws would be to hold gun owners legally responsible for the damages that others do with their guns so that victims could sue the gun owners the gun was stolen or borrowed from and so that merchants could be sued for the damages done by their customers. Gun owners are generally conservatives and conservatives make a big fetish of responsibility. Fine, if they're not the biggest hypocrites around then why should they object to being held responsible for their guns? Besides, this puts most of the onus for enforcement and prevention on the gun owners and merchants, where it belongs

I think this would be very effective in preventing gun violence. If you knew that the victim of a mugging might very well sue you into bankruptcy for wrongful death you'd be VERY careful that your gun wouldn't be stolen. If you knew that your friend just back from the local Insane Asylum might subject you to being poor forever you might respond with something other than "yeh, sure" when he asks you for the keys to your gun cabinet. If insurance companies know that a gun store selling to gangs could cost them millions they'd be VERY careful that the owners they insured were not the sort who would do that.

Your own last para is a the main reason I advocate my other change in gun laws. They should be FEDERAL or, they should at least be uniform from state to state. like we do with most Business Law. Right now one of the main organized crime professions is gun running from Arizona to New York.

A teacher of mine once told me you have to be ruthless with your run on sentences and cut them off at the knees. I can't though, they're my babies and they should be allowed to tell their stories, if you don't like their long windedness, don't read them.

They can just as easily run them from the Middle East to New York. Every time there are stupid laws like the outlawing of the Saturday night specials, the weapons get more deadly. With your suggestion there will be no limits.

I would keep this simple make owning more than ,say, 8 rounds of any firearm ammunition a Class E Federal Felony for each 12 rounds possessed over that unless your as an officer of the law or active duty soldier in performance of combat duty and training with permission of a suitably high superior for both. But this will allow other hunting weapons a slingshot, bow, crossbow and well spear if you want to hunt or one rifle with a small clip. Which you can buy a replacement for once you turn in the spent casings or some verification eight rounds were used (some device on the weapon). There you can own the gun that's protected that amendment leaves ammunition wide open to restrict but you need to be able to get some.

There's literally billions of rounds of ammo stored. I can see where putting a few spare rounds in the local lib's car and dropping a dime on him could be quite entertaining.

    Horrible as these events are
    They mostly seem idiosyncratic
I have not seen proposed legislation that would have much impact on them

So the BATFE and Obama should go to jail for Fast and Furious right?

Let's not stop there. Let's put the victims of home invasion in jail when a robber gets hurt, or stolen cigarettes cause cancer, or stolen cars hurt the thief.

Let's just put everyone in jail, great idea.

Uh...I think it's really a lot easier to get guns from State to State in the US rather than to go through Customs.

What limits are you talking of here?

    Yes.

There are dram shop liability laws. You can sue a bartender who allowed you to get drunk and drive

I think anyone with a DUI should be given a choice of having an interlock device required on any car he owns that would prevent anyone drunk from driving that car, forever, or a one year suspension of his license

Yeah because mass murderers who know they'll probably die anyway would really think twice because of that.

    - - - Updated - - -

No we should just be able to sue Johnny Walker directly.

    Genius idea.

Let's just let cops start shooting people that look like they might do something wrong.
